Originally a 15th century “Palazzo”, the Hotel Bernini is built according to the Classic Florentine architectural style, with string-course cornices along the walls and wooden shutters giving it a charming antique flavor. The Bernini Palace is located in Florence’s historic center, right behind Piazza della Signoria - just a stone’s throw from the Uffizi and Florence’s main historical attractions. The rooms are 74, Classic, Superior, Deluxe, Junior Suite and Suite, all are fitted out with the best, most up-to-date mod-cons and still preserve the charm of the past. The Tuscan Floor is reminiscent of old world Tuscan colours and themes, very warm and inviting. The new restaurant La Chiostrina is located in a historical courtyard of the hotel, it is the ideal place for delicious gastronimic specialities in Florence, its versatility makes it an excellent restaurant offering an innovative menu. A full breakfast is served in the magnificent Sala Parlamento (complete with a splendid frescoed ceiling) formerly a meeting place for members of Parliament and Senators of the Kingdom of Italy

Nestled in the heart of Florence, the Bernini Palace Hotel captivates guests with its historical charm and luxurious atmosphere. The central location is consistently lauded, making it a convenient base for exploring the city's treasures.
While many guests appreciate the decorous rooms and commend the hotel's amenities for their comfort and variety, some have expressed concerns over room size and the need for updates. The service at Bernini Palace is often highlighted as attentive and professional, although opinions on value and cleanliness show some divergence among travelers.

Located right next to Signoria Square, this top rated Hotel is most conveniently located, while offering high level of comfort and service in a historical and decorative 16c palace. A valet car service allows for hassle-free parking in the restricted central ZTL, allowing visitors to walk freely (all of Florence is accessible on foot from the central Hotel location) without concerns of their auto. We even had our car washed under valet care to resume our journey sparkling-fresh, after cleansing all the Tuscan dust of the Orcia Valley drive, which is a must-travel venue of scenic beauty spotted with numerous charming medieval towns and WH site Pienza. The Hotel is highly recommended for comfort, dedicated service and travel convenience, if the fairly high rates is withing budget range. We are sure the Hotel has become our favorite repeat base of residence for future visits to Florence.

This hotel is very central to a lot of the tourist areas. It’s behind the palace and Uffizi but out of the main tourist square, which was perfect for what we needed.
Staff were attentive and helpful. The lobby of the hotel was comfortable with a bar to the end.
We had a ‘Classic’ room on the third floor. Some of the reviews have said the rooms are small with no air con. I was pleasantly surprised by the size and adequate for the price we paid - although very dark where we had to have the light on all the time.
We had a comfortable king sized bed and the bathroom was a reasonable size with toiletries, bath robes and slippers. Mini bar (for a price), tea and coffee making facilitates were available in the room and replenished daily. Coffee machine would have been nice considering it’s supposed to be a 5star.
There was a turn down service in the evening. The aircon worked well and welcomed after a day in the sunshine.
Breakfast was included which was the usual Buffett style - nothing outstanding. At a cost other breakfast items could be ordered (poached eggs for example). Table service for drinks etc and some hot options. Staff attentive and hard working.
We were pleased with the hotel but I would not consider to be a 5star. Our window faced out into a dirty courtyard with no view at all. There were signs of wear and tear in the hotel and areas that needed rejuvenating (carpets etc) however don’t let that put your off as this is a good hotel in a convenient great location.
City tax is an additional £8 per person, per night payable on checkout.
Top tip - we contacted the concierge about a taxi to and from the hotel. We were quoted at €260 for the return trip. The tram from the airport to the centre is €1.70 and a 10 min walk, or there is a taxi rank where there is always someone available outside at the end of the road for €40. Not a complaint, but just to make others aware of the price difference.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Perfectly located, immediately behind Palazzo Vechio and Piazza de Signoria, we could not have wished for a better location. Origins of the building are from 1360's? and the character of a Palazzo has been retained throughout. We loved the feel of the place and the maintenance of fixtures that have been carefully looked after for a long time.....no flashy bling here, just immaculate rooms and bedding that is wonderful to come back to after walking miles in this beautiful city. The floors in all areas, including our room, are gleaming and not a speck of dust is allowed to settle here. The breakfast room, an historical important room where delegates met in 19C as a Parlamente, serve a nice breakfast with very warm, welcoming ladies who make sure your coffee cup is never empty. The staff were all pleasant and accommodating. one evening, on returning late to the hotel after an opera concert, we were served a jug of the most delicious hot chocolate from the bar. This is an hotel I will return to on my next visit to Firenze.

The front end staff were unhelpful and lied to our Travel Agent about us complaining about an issue that they simply did not choose to resolve then offered two single beds type room for $1000 additional euro for 4 nights so we went to Goway Travel who although we paid and told to book all our hotel rooms two single beds dropped the ball and keep us in queens. It was a battle for 21 days throughout Italy. Started in the basement in Dungeon room for two nights stuffy dark extremely cramped space creepy sewer smell then moved for two nights to bright gorgeous room 2 floors up with windows and gorgeous bathroom at no additional charge. We found a rooftop patio to enjoy at night with a drink from the hotel bar. The Staff and Service in the Hotel Breakfast Area were such hard working efficient women. The food was plentiful and delicious as was the setting. The hotel is in the heart of the city had some of the best meals at surrounding restaurants in the vicinity. Not sure if I would stay again though sorry but you need to fix the septic smell in the hallways and teach the front end staff to communicate with more respect and to not gouge your patrons to go from a queen to two single beds that’s all we wanted and then when we say no you put us in the old horses stable on bottom floor and call it the Tuscany Rooms say give us $1000 euro more and you can have the bed type you want! So yah for what we paid per night should of taken better care of us.

Dear Guest,We are truly surprised to read your comment, especially the part where you mention that the staff, who were all very polite and hardworking—particularly our Front Office Manager—was anything but attentive toward you. Perhaps you forgot to mention that your agency forgot to inform us at the time of booking about your preference for either a king-sized bed or two large separate beds. Upon your arrival, we had reserved a room exactly matching your request: a Classic room with a queen-sized bed, as clearly indicated in the room description. The hotel was fully booked on that day; therefore, prior to other guests’ arrivals, we only had one room available with a larger bed in a similar room category, which we promptly offered. Later, however, you expressed not satisfaction with that room’s style, and after consulting with the agency, we again clarified that the error had been made by your agency, not the hotel. You were also offered an upgrade to a Grand Deluxe room with a king-sized bed for an additional charge, which you did not accept. We managed to move you the following day to a room that was two full categories above the originally booked room, exceptionally with no additional charge. Please pardon us, but we feel we went above and beyond to accommodate you, even forgoing what would have rightly been due. In the future, we suggest verifying your requests more carefully with your agency to avoid assigning blame where it is not due. Best regards

We travelled to Florence from Milan during our 3 stage Italian trip and I have to say from minute one, our stay at the Bernini Palace Hotel was simply superb!
Welcomed and invited into the hotel by extremely friendly staff, we just knew that our stay was going to be memorable!
When we arrived in our room, we were greeted by a personal handwritten message from the hotel and beautiful chocolate truffles.
Attention to detail was fantastic, on the first evening on returning to our room the bed was turned down, a rug placed at either side of our bed, fresh slippers and a little satin bag of local sweets places on our pillows was just such a nice touch.
Breakfast was lovely with great choice.
When we chose this hotel, location was also extremely important and we could not have been more central.
As said the staff were superb and if we return to Florence and we will, The Bernini Palace will be our destination for sure!

Location is fantastic - all major sites, restaurants, shops within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful.
However, this is NOT a 5 star hotel. Bathroom was dirty - pubic hairs on the floor, discarded toenail on edge of bath. All the room surfaces were really dusty. We had to ask for conditioner and shower gel to be replenished and had to help ourselves to loo paper from a storage cupboard. A 5 star hotel would have had a Nespresso machine or similar, not a kettle and Maxwell House sachets. Air conditioning seemed to be a law unto itself. Even at 20°, the room was freezing, and the lights randomly switched themselves off.
The only meal we had in the hotel was breakfast which was perfectly adequate, but again no ‘wow’.
Lack of cleanliness was unforgivable, but otherwise the mistake this hotel makes is to call itself 5 star because everything then is ‘overpromise and underdeliver’. As a City centre 3 star hotel it would be fine.

Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your recent stay with us. We appreciate your kind words about our fantastic location and friendly, helpful staff. We strive to provide the highest level of service and comfort, and we regret that we fell short of your expectations in certain areas. We are very sorry because the cleanliness in our rooms is a priority, so if once the service was not adequate, we can only apologize. However, it seems excessive to us to consider the hotel not a 5-star when your stay lasted 4 days and even if, as I repeat, the incomplete cleaning is a serious lack, this occurred one day and we immediately sent a maid to clean the room. As for the kettle, this is a courtesy service and is equipped with various types of tea and instant coffee but in any case, our Bar with Room Service is always available for different needs.Best regards

This is most certainly not a five star hotel by any stretch of the imagination - it’s a thoroughly mediocre establishment with small, awfully dated rooms and fairly churlish, unfriendly staff. We usually stay at the St Regis which, while admittedly pricier, is infinitely superior in every sense - from service to overall grandeur (and in some senses, even the location, as this hotel has a terribly placed small entrance thronging with tourists). The grand deluxe room that we were in was no bigger than 180 square feet at best (even though it is advertised as otherwise) and filled with furniture and accessories dating back to the 1980s. The cups were filthy (and chipped) and I cried on the inside as I tried to pour myself a packette of Nescafé from their meager accoutrements and pour some hot water in a dreadfully old and inconveniently placed kettle. The hotel staff cannot be trusted to call you a taxi in a timely fashion and we almost missed our flight back to the States on account of their incompetence and general lack of care. Fortunately we were there only about 12 hours! Please avoid - there are several better establishments for 500 euros a night!

Dear Shrank, I’m sorry to receive your review that leaves me surprised. I’m pleased to inform you that the measurements of our rooms are clearly indicated in our website and those of the Grand Deluxe rooms start from a minimum of 22 m2 to a maximum of 28 m2, therefore from 236 to 301 feet and if you have informed our team, they could have shown you other alternatives. Regarding the location, our hotel is located in the heart of the city, just 100 meters from Piazza della Signoria, considered the heart of Florence. For the taxi, our team called as soon as you requested it and they usually arrive in a few minutes, but if in your case, the taxi was delayed, I don't see how the hotel can be responsible for the delay of a public service. You could also have asked our concierges to book it in advance. As mentioned, your negative review does not reflect the reality, considering that you only spent 12 hours in the hotel and especially regarding to our team that are our flagship as it can be seen from the numerous reviews. Best Regards

We stayed for two nights and wish we had booked for another. The staff were so good, every single person made our stay so welcoming. The location is perfect, right in the middle but limited noise from the streets nearby. We had a standard room which was small but for two nights, not a problem. Bed was really comfy and they supplied robes, slippers etc. We were given a free bottle of Chianti in a voucher on arrival so enjoyed that on our last night. Such a nice touch. We had breakfast included but only had it the once. It was fine but a bit limited so if you prefer some freshly made croissants and a big decent coffee, would suggest not including it and eating in one of the many places nearby. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful historic hotel in the ZLT historic area of Florence a couple of blocks from Point di Vecchio. My spouse and I stayed in a Supreme double room on the 5th floor which was very well appointed with luxury amenities but rather tight on space. The room had a lovely marble bathroom and a nice individually decorated decor. It was comfortable and quiet for our short stay before we moved on in our trip to a Villa just outside of Florence. The complimentary breakfast was buffet style and very nice in a very lovely breakfast room on the second floor. The limited elevators were very slow so we climbed a lot of stairs during our stay which was no issue for us but would be for less mobile travelers or those with small children. The location of the hotel was excellent for sightseeing on foot. The hotel staff was marvelous and went out of their way to help us. They provided excellent recommendations for dinner, stored our bags after check out and got taxis for us. There is a nice small lobby bar also where we enjoyed hot tea and snacks for a reasonable cost. Would stay here again but I’m a larger room preferably due to the beautiful decor, location and wonderful staff.

My husband and I recently stayed 4 nights in this lovely hotel, which has the most amazing staff. The hotel is in the centre with easy walking to the sights and local restaurants, and about a €35 taxi trip from the airport. We were in room 518 ,which despite some renovations going on , was lovely and quiet , with views over the roof tops of Florence. The ambiance of the hotel is just lovely. Everything you could want was in the bedroom and it was so clean. Wonderful soft fluffy towels and immaculate linens. With a lovely evening turn down with chocolates. We had breakfast included and we could not fault it, plenty of tasty options, we loved the staff in the breakfast room, they were so happy to help and constantly refilling. We had a couple of drinks in the bar in the evenings before going out, and must say for a 5 * hotel the drinks were very reasonable priced. The only thing I think we could fault is there wasn’t a price list in the room for the mini bar! On arrival our lady concierge who showed us to our room opened the door to where the mini bar and safe was and said this is complimentary, however on our check out she must have just meant the safe was complementary as we were presented with the mini bar bill! We however just paid it as we had had such a lovely time we didn’t want to spoil it. We would certainly come back should we revisit Florence and would fully recommend this beautiful hotel.
