This is gonna to be my first review for hotel of life. Too good that I can't stop myself from sharing to the world. We booked a 4 star hotel with priority to be closed to train station. So it scored 10/10 on it location because it is only 5 mins walk from station & 5 mins walk to Duomo... More

Dear Esther L, thank you for having chosen us and for your words! You’re just being too good to us and well… I am almost afraid that we may not meet your expectations whenever you will decide to go back to Florence and try our property again. Sure enough we’ll do our best not to disappoint you! Looking forward to... More

The property looks gorgeous on the outside and the beautiful lobby is warm and inviting. They evidently spent quite a bit of money on recent renovations. The super friendly staff welcomed us and immediately offered us an 'upgrade'. Don't take it! We walked through the pretty hallways only to get to the un-renovated section of the hotel - our first... Dear CAN_in_AUS, thank you for having chosen our property. I am sorry that we fell short of your expectations. This needs actually some explanation. Reading your report I assume you booked a Classic Standard room and that you were upgraded to one of our Superior Rooms. In both cases it WAS (more about that in the following) non renovated rooms,... More

This hotel was great!! We were upgraded to a superior room that was newly renovated and very modern. It was a 5 minute walk from the train station and another 5 minutes or less to the Duomo. The bed was very comfortable and our view of the Piazza was unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Florence.... More

This hotel was phenomenal! The rooms were newly renovated, spacious, and bright. The location could not be beat, it was so nice to hang out in the square in the evenings before retiring to our room. The breakfast was very good, staff were wonderful. I felt so lucky to have found this hotel and we will be back!

Dear Eddie S, although we bear a similar name, we are located in Florence and are not even connected to the Grand Hotel De La Minerve in Rome. We are nevertheless very happy that you had a nice stay in Italy and we look forward to your visit to Florence! By the way, we are 4 stars, but freshly renovated... More

I looked at a lot of hotels in Florence. There are very few 5 Star Hotels that don't break the bank and some of the 4 star offerings look very chintzy and dated. The Grand Hotel Minerva wowed me from word go. First of all, it's just 5 minutes walk from the station in a beautiful picturesque square. The decor... More

Dear showbizsimon, Thank you for having stayed with us and for your kind words. I am really glad that even staying in a non-renovated room has been a pleasant experience, which is actually now unrepeatable! We have just emptied out our older rooms and in a few days we will start renovation of the last wing of the hotel containing... More

This lovely hotel is within just a few minutes walk of all the main tourist attractions. The rooms we had were lovely, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly. I wouldn't stay in any other hotel in Florence now - our stay was so totally enjoyable.

We had a large room with balcony on the Piazza which was lovely. The Piazza is large but one of the quieter ones in Florence so if you like a little more peace then this is great. The hotel had all the facilities but the english cooked breakfast could have been much better - good choice though. The hotel seemed... More

Please note only 75% of the rooms have been refurbished and those that have not been are particular of a lower quality in comparison to the rest of hotel, perhaps a lower quality to many in fact. Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
