Spent a week at the hotel. Great ambience and very tastefully done common areas. Excellent service by staff at the front desk, the bar and the dining areas. Everyone was friendly and spoke English. Loved the food. Lots of veg options too. Wonderful room with a view of the piazza and duomo cupola. Our room had a beautiful four poster bed. The best part was the terrace and patio on the top floor. The only negative - we had a car as we were driving around Tuscany and parking was expensive (not included in the room). Also needed to give them half an hour notice to bring the car from the garage.

Hotel's Favourite
...as the title says, I'm not sure how this hotel is 4-star. I've stayed at 5-star hotels around the world, JW Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, in Europe, Asia, North America and I would say that the Grand Hotel Minerva standards and service levels are on the same levels as the luxury hotels mentioned above. The moment you walk in the lobby you get a whiff of this lovely scent. The lobby is grand, inviting, has lots of seating and welcoming. From there, Giacomo took care of our check-in and escorted us to our suite and provided a brief tour. After checking in we headed to the rooftop to see the pool -- and wow what an incredible view of Firenze including the Duomo. You won't regret taking a swim or dipping your toes in the pool while sipping a drink and admiring the sunset views. We finished every night there and had the bubbles and berries drink - the hotel's signature drink. We also had their hamburger which was exactly what we needed after 2 weeks of pasta and pizza. The rooftop staff were all top class and trained to very high standards -- i've worked in travel and hospitality before. Every detail is measured and calculated. Very attentive, professional, and warm hearted staff to make your stay incredible. Our rooms were kept very tidy and clean throughout the stay -- very modern and felt luxurious. We had a junior suite for 3 nights and the space was perfect for us to lounge around while getting a solid night's sleep (warning - bring earplugs if you don't want to be disturbed by the clock). Now, I have to say that our stay was special because I asked Giacomo to help me with my last minute proposal. Fortunately he accepted the request and this is where the bar/rooftop staff went above and beyond to help coordinate the plan and music request. They even took videos of the moment -- and apparently this was a first for them, so massive thanks to them for stepping up and making sure my proposal was PERFECT. We will never forget the staff and will return to Florence one day for our anniversary! To conclude, top staff, top service, comfy and classy rooms, everything about this hotel is 5-star. Nothing less.

What a fantastic hotel. From the welcome we received at check in to the time we checked out, we couldn't have asked for more. The breakfasts were always good, our room was comfortable and spacious. In short everything we expected and more for our stay in Florence. The hotel is well located and within walking distance of the majority of the main sites (Duomo 5 mins, Galleria Academia 10 mins). It is also near some very good restaurants which although not cheap, weren't OTT expensive either. Would definitely stay here again

The hotel and staff were simply the best. Thank you to Giacomo and Alessia who helped me with my initial reservation and Margherita who was amazing when our flight was canceled and we had to alter the dates of our stay. Because of the problem with our flight we stayed in two different rooms and the staff could not have been more helpful especially when it was time to switch rooms. It was seamless. Our first room was the Duplex Family Suite. It was lovely and it had a great balcony overlooking Santa Maria Novella Square. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms well appointed. I can't say anything negative. The second room was a suite on the same floor with a beautiful fresco ceiling. We were pleasantly surprised to have a balcony on the square. My family actually liked this room better. I liked them both. The hotel itself is in a great location, close to the train station, close to shopping and a number of restaurants. It was a short walk to the Duomo and other attractions. They serve a pretty substantial breakfast. There is a rooftop pool and bar with a beautiful view, though we didn't really spend much time there. We didn't have an opportunity to eat at the hotel restaurant though we did order room service a couple of times. I would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation. I can't thank the staff enough for making our vacation one of the best in years.

Great choice. The hotel is perfectly located on the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. A quiet and spacious plaza that’s a short walk from everything that matters. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast was just right. Bonus - the rooftop pool has extraordinary views of the city.

It’s not inexpensive, but it’s worth every dime! The public areas, restaurants, guest rooms and staff make this hotel a lovely reprieve from the hustle and bustle of this beautiful city. The location is perfect: walking distance from the train station, beautiful plaza and church, and ten minutes to almost all sights and attractions. The front desk staff were exceptional and the restaurant t manager, Paolo, seemed to be in every restaurant and bar all day and night. Lots of public areas to relax and all nicely appointed.

We spent 3 nights here last week. The location is perfect and is within easy walking distance of most sights in Florence. Our room (#513) was beautiful and immaculate. We had two large windows directly facing the Duomo's cupola, the Medici Chapel's dome, and Santa Maria Novella was to our left. The bed was very comfortable with high quality linens. The breakfast area was very pretty and the buffet there was wonderful. We enjoyed appetizers and drinks on the patio on the plaza but the rooftop pool and bar was our favorite spot for winding down after a busy day. What an incredible view from up there! And the pool was amazing. The staff was perfect: helpful, cheerful, and made us feel like they cared about us. This hotel is worthy of more than 5 stars! I will add that there is a great gelateria just out the front door and to the right!

The first thing you encounter at the Minerva Hotel is the hotel staff which is very friendly and attentive. The hotel has a wonderful rooftop bar and pool. The roof top has two sides to it. One facing the beautiful square and the other facing opposite. Both have beautiful views. The breakfast room has been the nicest we have seen in our hotels since Venice. The lobby is fantastic and inviting. The lobby bar is also very nice. I would consider this a more upscale hotel and worth it. By the way, the hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Sorrento train station.

Comfortable stay, staff are polite and very helpful. They honour our Expedia gold membership so we had a room upgrade. Room is big and looks newly renovated. Partner garage is charged us 90 euro for Audi A3 car. For two nights. Breakfast is ok. One thing we noticed is that they seem to be under staffed. But our overall experience is still very good and we will stay here again.

We checked in for a long weekend and we had two rooms. As Invited for a wedding . The rooms were facing a wall and even though complaining the hotel preferred to leave their premium rooms empty instead of finding a way to please us. It was claustrophobic!!!! The staff did nothing to accommodate as it was non refundable rate. Worst stay ever!
