This is the first time I have ever written an online hotel review, but I felt compelled to write a review for the Grand Hotel Minerva because we had such a wonderful stay and were so impressed especially with the service we received. The hotel was beautiful, and our Deluxe 2 bedroom duplex room was perfect for our family of 4 with 2 teenagers. We had lots of room to spread out, and we had a great view of the lively piazza. The hotel is centrally located, so we could easily walk everywhere. We were most impressed with the staff at the front desk. We asked a number of questions about restaurants and activities, and they were consistently very helpful and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to accommodate and even were able to get a last-minute reservation for a party of 8 on Easter Sunday. The included breakfast was lovely, and the rooftop deck had a wonderful view. I would absolutely love to stay there again and would highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel's Favourite
...as the title says, I'm not sure how this hotel is 4-star. I've stayed at 5-star hotels around the world, JW Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, in Europe, Asia, North America and I would say that the Grand Hotel Minerva standards and service levels are on the same levels as the luxury hotels mentioned above. The moment you walk in the lobby you get a whiff of this lovely scent. The lobby is grand, inviting, has lots of seating and welcoming. From there, Giacomo took care of our check-in and escorted us to our suite and provided a brief tour. After checking in we headed to the rooftop to see the pool -- and wow what an incredible view of Firenze including the Duomo. You won't regret taking a swim or dipping your toes in the pool while sipping a drink and admiring the sunset views. We finished every night there and had the bubbles and berries drink - the hotel's signature drink. We also had their hamburger which was exactly what we needed after 2 weeks of pasta and pizza. The rooftop staff were all top class and trained to very high standards -- i've worked in travel and hospitality before. Every detail is measured and calculated. Very attentive, professional, and warm hearted staff to make your stay incredible. Our rooms were kept very tidy and clean throughout the stay -- very modern and felt luxurious. We had a junior suite for 3 nights and the space was perfect for us to lounge around while getting a solid night's sleep (warning - bring earplugs if you don't want to be disturbed by the clock). Now, I have to say that our stay was special because I asked Giacomo to help me with my last minute proposal. Fortunately he accepted the request and this is where the bar/rooftop staff went above and beyond to help coordinate the plan and music request. They even took videos of the moment -- and apparently this was a first for them, so massive thanks to them for stepping up and making sure my proposal was PERFECT. We will never forget the staff and will return to Florence one day for our anniversary! To conclude, top staff, top service, comfy and classy rooms, everything about this hotel is 5-star. Nothing less.

The Grand Hotel Minerva is the perfect hotel for visiting Florence. It is located very close to the train station and within a 15 minute walk of the main attractions in Florence: the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, the Galleris d’Accademia and Ponte Vecchia. The service is excellent. The front desk clerks are extremely helpful. We rented a suite and it was a nice size for my family of two adults and a teenage son. There was a king size bed and two couches, one of which was made up for a bed for him. The bathroom is large. Given that we find European city hotels usually have smaller rooms than American ones, this was a pleasant surprise! The room is serviced twice a day, in the US, you are lucky to have your room cleaned once a day so another welcome surprise! The hotel is tastefully decorated with a mix of classic and modern pieces. Breakfast is included and features a wide variety of food, including pastries, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, cereal, yoghurt, and meats and cheeses. Coffee, tea and cappuccinos are served. Highly recommend the hotel!

No need for me to repeat everything in all the other glowing reviews. But have to say this place was fabulous. Great staff, great room, great breakfast, great location. Just to be picky - room aircon was ineffective, housekeeping failed to replace the coffee capsules in our room and they provided no milk. That’s it! We had 4 wonderful days there. Highly recommended.

We visited the rooftop bar as recommended by a friend, and it did not disappoint. This had one of the most beautiful views of Florence it was absolutely amazing with gorgeous cocktails. It was a core memory for our trip and we’d recommend anyone coming. We got really lucky and caught a sunset up there too,

This was our 5th visit to Florence, but first stay at this hotel. Our travel advisor recommended it; we’re glad she did! It has a great location on the piazza Santa Maria Novella, wonderful and welcoming staff ( especially those at reception who graciously let me practice my Italian!) stylish and sophisticated decor in all the public spaces, beautiful and well appointed rooms ( we stayed in 511). Food (we ate one dinner there and daily breakfast) was excellent. We have traveled extensively and have high standard. The Grand Minerva met them all. We can’t wait to stay there again.

Beautiful rooms. Meticulous housekeeping. Very helpful concierge. Great bar. There is also a rooftop bar with the most outstanding views but it was not open for business while we were there, not sure why the weather was good. Great convenient location. We only ate in the restaurant for breakfast and it was OK.

Another fantastic visit to my favorite city and another great stay at this hotel! First visit with grandchildren and this visit was with friends and again this hotel did not disappoint. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. Very close to train station- you can walk without any trouble and I was using a mobility walker with my carry on bag. Close to the Duomo area and lots of restaurants, this location was really not too far from all the sights and we did use taxis due to mobility issues. Wonderful visit again! Splurge on Fresco rooms 103 and 104 stunning! Pricey but stunning.....

Weary from 24 hours of travel, we were thrilled to discover our hotel was a mere block from the airport tram stop. When we stepped into the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, it was magical - learning that we had a room overlooking the square made us feel like stars in some fantastic Italian film - the light caressing the walls of the buildings at dusk, the fresh air, the cheerful chatter below... This is a five-star hotel and the comfort, kindness of the staff, and elegance of the property puts it up as one of our favorite hotels we've stayed in. The staff at the hotel was phenomenal. Thoughtful, outgoing, helpful -- eager to assist with restaurant recommendations, reservations, or even just a cheery greeting and well-wishes. We were gifted bottles of water on our way to the airport and always felt like we had a "home" in the Grand Hotel Minerva. Kudos to the restaurant staff that helped my husband recover a lost item. (His hat isn't great at following us when we leave places). The breakfast every morning was so elegant - the starched white table cloths, fine china, and free flowing coffee were much appreciated. Everything was kept so clean and attended to immediately. Our room had a wonderful tub, plenty of space and a lovely window that opened onto the Piazza. The bed was dreamy - we had our best sleep in Italy there with sumptuous linens and perfect pillows. Truly a hotel that is a cut above. We adored our stay!
