Grand Hotel Minerva garners praise for its exceptional service, with staff members noted for their attentiveness and helpfulness. The hotel's amenities, especially the rooftop pool and bar offering breathtaking views, along with a comprehensive breakfast, are frequently lauded by guests. Its central location makes it a convenient hub for exploring Florence's attractions.
While the hotel's cleanliness receives accolades, particularly the spotless rooms and well-maintained pool area, some guests feel the additional costs for services and room upgrades detract from the overall value. The rooms are generally appreciated for their comfort and cleanliness, yet opinions vary regarding size, views, and value. The atmosphere of the hotel strikes a charming balance between classic and modern, creating a sophisticated and stylish environment that is especially enchanting on the rooftop.

What a wonderful hotel! From the moment we stepped in to the beautiful foyer we were blown away. No sooner had we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a suite! The room was amazing and the view over the Piazza was spectacular and we could see the Duomo from our window. The service was second to none and all staff were extremely attentive without being intrusive. The view from the roof top terrace, which has a pool open from March, was breathtaking! The breakfast was sumptuous and so much choice of hot and cold and also catered for those who are gluten intolerant. The house keeping could not be faulted, the staff worked tirelessly to keep our room spotless and even readied the room for our arrival after our evening out. The location was superb as all the main attractions were easily within walking distance as were the many restaurants. We cannot praise this hotel highly enough!

I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel in Florence. I don't know if you could pick a more picturesque locale. This is right on a piazza next to a beautiful church. There's a great gelato place on the corner and you are surrounded by restaurants and shops. You're not more than 15 minutes from most major attractions by foot. There's a laundromat nearby, pharmacies, and you're less than 5 minutes from the train station.
The hotel itself is very nice. Lobby is gorgeous, front desk was terrific, the free breakfast is fabulous and the waitstaff are incredible. Sefedine and Paolo felt like old friends by the end of our stay. By the second day they had remembered our drinks and other requests and always took the best care of us. They even gave my sister in law a gift for her birthday!
The rooms we were in were mid-tier among their offerings and they aren't as picturesque as the rest of the hotel, nor are they huge but the beds are comfortable, bathrooms were very nice, they were very clean etc. We did adjoining rooms since we were traveling with kids and we weren't planning on spending much time in the room so this was a good choice for us. If you are there for a romantic stay, perhaps upgrade to one of their fancier rooms.
The rooftop pool has the most insane views. It's a tiny pool but perfect for our needs for an hour here or there for the kids between activities. No lounge chairs, just a few couchlike things and then tables and chairs. At night I think it is an active bar and can be attended by non hotel guests and I bet the views at night are equally incredible.
I will be telling all my friends to stay at this hotel if they are coming to Florence, that's how much I liked it.

And I would choose it again. After researching many hotels in various neighborhoods of Florence, I found this one and was very glad I did. The Grand Hotel Minerva feels like an upscale boutique hotel, and was genuine and courteous in service and hospitality. It manages to be elevated, yet down to earth and unpretentious at the same time. Although it was likely full, it never felt crowded in any particular area. Just the opposite, staff were consistently friendly and delighted that you were there, often taking time to say hello, talk or offer suggestions. The breakfast was delicious, with fresh fruit, hot items, cakes and pastries, served in a beautiful room facing a courtyard garden. The rooftop and its panoramic views were definitely a noteworthy amenity for this hotel! A great spot for lunch or a beverage with views. And the location, could not have been better: an easy 5 minute walk to the main train station, located on a spacious piazza, not feeling the crowds of tourists nor a narrow alley street, and the church next door: Wow! The Santa Maria Novella Church was stunning, with the most gorgeous murals and frescoes imaginable! (probably my favorite church, not to be confused with the Santa Maria Fiore Cathedral, also beautiful). Thank you for a delightful stay!

Looks grand enough from the outside and has a grand location. But the grand stuff stops when you enter your room. The most barebone hotel room I have ever stayed in. No coffee maker, no kettle, no iron or iron board. We're here to attend a wedding and requested housekeeping to send us a clothes iron - which request was flatly refused. As a policy they don't supply guests with such amenities. For about Euro 600 per night, I would think this hotel could do better to make it's guests comfortable. Stay here only if you intend to spend close to zero time in the room.

I really can’t help but say this hotel is amazing. The attention to detail starts with the frontdesk people, to room cleanings, breakfast buffet, and the hotel restaurant. Stay long enough and you’ll see the little touches that make this place special. This hotel will be my base in Florence from now on.
As far as location this hotel is next to the train station making it a first time visitor friendly hotel. My room was perfect. Also, I have to rave about the shower because once you get in you don’t want to get out. Shower heaven for tall people. I had lunch/dinner at the restaurant and you’ll be missing out if you skip it. Worth trying at least once. You can easily spend the same amount or more for crappy food at nearby restaurants. I’ve done it. Here everything I had there was a winner. Slow paced enjoyable meal
If there is one thing that needs improvement is that they need a better tea selection for breakfast or in room. I’m a tea drinker and felt like I was drinking lower end supermarket tea.

What an excellent hotel! Upon arrival we were personally shown to our suite and was amazed to find that we had gotten a room on the front of the hotel with a balcony and a round bed! It had a beautiful large bathroom and walk in closet. Lighting controls easily reached from the bed. We used our balcony every day just to people watch and relax. The breakfast (included) room was so beautiful and the breakfast spread was wonderful and even included vegetarian options. The wait staff was very good. Front desk staff handled everything and all needs and questions without fail. Friendly getting every time we went by. The gym was small and had to make a reservation. The rooftop pool and bar and restaurant was to die for! The view was amazing. We went in the pool one day as it was warm out and it was so nice to have that amenity. We ate the the restaurant on the first floor and my pasta was excellent and the fresh bread was the best we had in two weeks. The cleaning staff was very good and even remembered my request for extra towels after the first request. We loved our stay and would recommend it to all our friends. Easily walkable to the Duomo and other sites. We really enjoyed the ease of walking off the train and not having to walk too far rolling our luggage around uneven streets. Beautiful view and sometimes even singers/guitar playing In The plaza.

This hotel is so beautiful, with stunning art work on display everywhere. Lots of places to sit and relax. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfy! No tea/coffee making facilities and room service very expensive (€20 for a coffe and hot chocolate!) as was the minibar. That said our include breakfast was fantastic! A huge choice and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The roof terrace is the crowning glory and affords an amazing view of the Florence rooftops and Duomo. The location is very central and near all the museums and shops. The tram line and station are 2 minutes walk away. The T2 tram will take you to the airport for €1.50. Highly recommend this hotel!!!

We stayed here for a special birthday and it did not disappoint. From the welcome by Serena at check in who sorted uffizi gallery tickets and have us great restaurant recommendations to the bar staff who make the best cocktails to the friendly maids who serviced our room, everything was perfect. The rooftop pool is an added bonus to cool off after pounding the Firenze streets. Breakfast is a delight, amazing choice of fruit, fresh croissants, bread, ham and cheeses plus scrambled egg, bacon and sausage. The rooms are a good size with a modem bathroom and air conditioning that works a treat without being noisy. All this does come at a price, drinks and food aren’t cheap (cocktails 18-20 euros) but it is all delicious and worth every penny. Located on the piazza Santa Maria it is in a lovely location close to the major sights. When we return to Florence we will be staying here again

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Minerva to attend a wedding in Tuscany. The rooms were impeccably cleaned daily, the roof top pool had a beautiful view, and the concierge was extremely helpful. Most of all I want to comment on the restaurants. We ate at the hotel more often than planned because the food was truly delicious and the service, exceptional. The manager of the restaurant, Paolo, made us feel like family he was truly the magic that changed our time there from a nice hotel stay to the endearing experience that we will always remember.
