The hotel is in a fabulous location and the staff were always so friendly and helpful! The rooms are very spacious, however the bathroom is on the smaller side but still nice fittings etc. Breakfast was great, huge selection that was constantly replenished. We would love to return when it's warmer weather to take advantage of the magnificent rooftop terrace!! Lastly,...

We loved our stay. The hotel is right on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, a five minute walk from the train station and close to all of the major sites in Florence. The breakfast was lovely, the rooftop gardens and pool are amazing, the perfect place to have a glass of wine before dinner. The Piazza Santa Maria Novella has...

I am used to pretty nice hotels. We travelled with the kids and needed 3 rooms for 8 nights total, 4 of them in Florence. My tavel agent suggested this hotel because it was not too pricey but clean and decent. We were please with our choice to stay here, rooms are sparse as are many in Europe but it...

When we checked in at Grand Hotel Minerva we were given a room that's split into two levels. With four luggages, the layout of the room was not ideal for us. I phoned reception and asked for room change to a single-level room. The reception was very understanding & helpful and told me that they would have a room ready...

The hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy and well-organised. We stayed in a superior double room and it was well worth it for the view and the jacuzzi! The cocktail snacks laid out in the bar each night were a nice touch. We will definitely stay there when we return to Florence and hope to make more use of their...

Very helpful and friendly staff. We were upgraded without even requesting it to a superb family room/suite. Wonderful breakfast with great choice, including cooked breakfast (important for the British!). Great location within walking distance of most major sights and great views on to the lively Piazza S.Maria Novella. Amazing views from the roof terraces. We would definitely stay here again....

I recently stayed at the hotel with my teenage daughter and was very pleased with everything. The hotel is clean and the staff was very attentive and kind. We had a small plumbling issue in our first room and the staff was quick to find us another room with no problem. Both rooms were lovely. The location of the hotel...

We have just stayed 6 nights at this hotel which proudly displays it's 4.5 stars from trip advisor. However if you want to sleep past 6 am beware of room 113 or nearby. The laundry is picked up at this time in the morning everyday except Sundays. The rooms are just above where it is noisily loaded. A complaint was...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
