I recently stayed at the hotel with my teenage daughter and was very pleased with everything. The hotel is clean and the staff was very attentive and kind. We had a small plumbling issue in our first room and the staff was quick to find us another room with no problem. Both rooms were lovely. The location of the hotel... More

We have just stayed 6 nights at this hotel which proudly displays it's 4.5 stars from trip advisor. However if you want to sleep past 6 am beware of room 113 or nearby. The laundry is picked up at this time in the morning everyday except Sundays. The rooms are just above where it is noisily loaded. A complaint was... More

We had a group of 8 ranging from 13 to 70 yrs. old, and we had the privilege of staying here for a 2 night stay. Though we stayed in 8 cities in Italy on this trip, this hotel is the one that stands out among all of our wonderful stays. Clean, Roomy, Great View, Great Breakfast. What more can... More

Friendly welcoming staff, wonderful food, and you can take a quiet drink and break whilst admiring the florence skyline from the rooftop before going back out into the culture and buzz of Florence. We stayed in a standard room which had a lovely view past the Santa Maria church towards the hills behind the city. It is not usual that... More

Tired, says it all. Everything is old and weary including the carpets! Service is good except at the front desk. It is run by young people who seem so old and tired , they don't care. Breakfast is good and dinner is very good. Worth a try for the chef. While the location is good it needs a decrease in... More

We enjoyed a two night return visit to the Minerva, with its great location on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella – i.e. less than a kilometre from the train station and the Duomo and within walking distance of practically everything a visitor will want to see in Florence. Room sizes and views vary. Our fifth floor ‘superior’ room had a... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for returning to our hotel and for your extensive and detailed review. A special thanks for pointing out some possible improvements. Actually some of them have already been scheduled or even put into place. - New flat TV sets have been purchased and will be installed in the next future. At the same time a new... More

Have just returned from a three night stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and accomodating, even providing me with a plug adaptor when mine didn't fit, and the hotel is in a fanatastic location with plenty of restaurants and all of the tourist sites within easy walking distance. The hotel is very clean and the rooms spacious,... More

When I come home from Florence I always feel myself so full of lightness, cheerfulness and tender affection. And this has not only to do with “Bella Firenze” but just as much with my stay at Hotel Minerva. The heart-warming and so discrete kindness and attention of the entire staff are overwhelming. Regarding other reviews I’d like to say that... More

Great location, and easy access by car. Staff friendly and professional, Nice breakfast. Very nice view from the rooftop terrace, eventhough the pool was closed ( understandably so in March); however, the inside bar on the top floor could and should have been opened. There are a few things that do not match a 4 star rating; for one thing,... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
