We stayed here for 3 nights and would recommend the hotel wholeheartedly. Our bedroom was beautiful with a great view over the Piazza and the rooftops of Florence. A huge big bed, dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries all amazing. Breakfast was wonderful with a huge choice of food. Very hard working and efficient staff and lots of tea and coffee... More

My room was clean and spacious, and the food was good at every meal. Snacks at the breaks in meetings were a little uninspired, but they were more than welcome. No problems with wi-fi at all. The location is great and the views form the roof are stunning.

Dear Guest, thank you for your visit and your very detailed comments: that is what we really need to improve and update our services. Your review has given us the hint to reconsider the offer of our standard coffee break. I just would like to add that coffee breaks are normally agreed with the meeting organization and that the “basic”... More

This hotel exceeded my expectations in every sense. The room was spacious with a good sized queen for my partner and I and an alcove with a pull out sofa for our son. The view of Santa Maria Novella out the window was inspiring, and the views from the pool deck at the top of the hotel were just stupendous... More

Grand hotel Minerva is an idyllic place to spend a short or a long time because it combines high professionalism with friendliness in an exquisite environment. All members of the staff, without exception, were outstandig in their manner and assisting one with any requests. In fact, we felt that there was real empathy between them and us. The restaurant serves... More

Location was great with it being so close to the train station and walking distance to everything. Our room was spacious and we had a nice view of the church from our window. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and had an extensive selection, even gluten free food. The staff was very professional and all spoke english. We arrived before check... More

Dear Guests, thank you very much for your kind and detailed review. Among all things, it is a great pleasure to read that you also appreciated small attentions, like bringing luggage to the rooms, which for us are standard routine. One small thing about pillows: this issue has been already brought up out by other guests and tripadvisor reviewers and... More

I've been visiting Florence for 15 years and have stayed in many hotels there. I have stayed here several times in the last six or seven years and will not stay anywhere else in Florence now!. The staff are excellent and very attentive to detail. Breakfast is a great selection. In the summer the rooftop terrace with pool is a... More

We originally booked our hotel after having won an auction on SkyAuction and were able to get a decent rate for the hotel. The location is great....just a block or so from the train station and located on a beautiful square with a grassy park. The hotel itself is very nice. The problem that we had was with the smell... We were a little disappointed with this hotel as it is not comparable to other 4 star hotels we have stayed in in Italy or other parts of the world. The decor is in huge need of upgrading, but it is spotlessly clean and the staff make up the rooms diligently each morning. It was not contemporary and was probably... More

This was a once in a lifetime first time family trip to Italy, and I was particularly concerned about choosing a nice hotel with enough space for a family of 5. I relied heavily on TripAdvisor ratings. We had traveled from Rome, having stayed in a very clean and well maintained small hotel. This hotel is located within walking distance... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
