The location of the hotel is excellent. A VERY short walk to the train station in a neighborhood with restaurants, a pharmacy, ATM, etc. Easy to find. Price is good and it includes breakfast. One gentleman at the front desk was extremely helpful, but the other two were not. The room had an odd odor, but was clean. Some rooms...

Very near train station and a supermarket, close to attractions. Front desk staff is helpful and friendly. Rooms and are old and basic but acceptable. Bathrooms are ok. No kettle, tea or coffee. Weak wifi signal, no socket (although one in bathroom), I unplugged the fragrance but the socket was facing closely to the desk, I wouldn't be able to...

I stayed here for one night, as I was coming from outside Florence and needed a place to lay my head before a very early - morning flight. I got an online deal for about $75 and, judging by how close this place is to the bus station, I expected it to be pretty "basic." (In all fairness, I have...

The hotel is clean. I traveled with group of 30 people. We made hotel staff very busy. They are very organized. Staff make sure to fulfill our requests. Free healthy breakfast. Great location! It is walking distance to Cathedrals, leather market, shopping area, train station and bus station. Highly recommended.

The hotel is close to the station and quite cheap for the city standards. The room was clean. Breakfast offer a choice (not wide, but fair considering the price) of salty and sweet food. We booked a room with a tub through booking.com and were given one with a simple shower and it was not possible to change the room....

My daughter and I stayed here in August for a few days. We had been travelling around Italy and this was the hotel booked by the travel operator I used. The hotel is nice enough... staff are okay and the breakfast was just alright. Nothing spectacular. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind coming back here but something happened that I feel other...

I choose this Hotel for my Fiancé & I as it was close to the train station. It is only about a 5 minute walk to the heart of Florence from the Hotel. There have been comments on the rooms being a bit dated, but I believe this gave it more character than the standard modern hotel look. The rooms...

This hotel looks a little drab upon first entering. Actually it's fine. Good enough room with all bathroom luxuries, shower, bidet. We had shutters on outside and blackout curtains at the window of the room as its a busy road outside. Breakfast is good, not vast, but good. Toast, ham, cheese, pastries, etc. coffee, tea, which is served to you...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
