Since opening in 1989, Il Guelfo Bianco Hotel has been constantly evolving but it is only now, after several improvements made in the last 10 years, that we can say that it has a brand new face. After the last renovation rooms are all with parquet. The bedrooms, large and luminous, have all been decorated with antique furniture, artisan draperies and important pieces of contemporary art. Many of these are also present in the common areas. Attention to detail is given to each bedroom whether a single or a De Luxe - the differentiation in category (Executive, Superior, De Luxe or Junior Suite) is based purely on size. The range of accommodation types available allows us to satisfy the multiple needs of our guests, many of whom have contributed with their suggestions over the years, to the final décor of the bedrooms. Our motto is and has always been to improve in such a way to often pleasantly surprise our regular guests; we dont expect to be ‘the first nor ‘the best but we certainly consider our hotel easily distinguishable. All of the improvements have been made with the intent to maintain the original welcoming atmosphere intact; the evolutions have allowed us to upgrade from a friendly nest to a comfortable and warm cradle. a lovely bistro restaurant "IL DESCO" is available from 1200 til 3pm and again from 6,30 to 10,30 pm with seasonal menu with many organic products. Sundays close for dinner. (the restaurant at the moment is closed)

Detailed Reviews
I stayed at Il Guelfo Bianco for 18 days from January 25th to February 12th. It was the best hotel experience that I’ve ever had. I was upgraded to a beautiful room with a high wooden ceiling, beautiful antiques, and artwork. The bed was extremely comfortable with fresh white sheets and duvet, and perfect pillows. My room looked out onto a courtyard so it was very quiet even though it was in the middle of Florence. The bathroom was very large with a huge bathtub with lots of hot water.
The hotel is in an old palazzo but has been completely renovated while retaining the feel of a palazzo with the antiques, artwork, the high ceilings, and the concrete stairs.
Breakfast in their beautiful breakfast room was delicious with hot selections (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, vegetables, etc.) and cold selections (prosciutto, mozzarella, breads, croissants, bruschetta, variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, nuts, etc.) plus cappuccino, caffe latte, Americano, juices, etc.
In the late afternoon and evening they had complimentary Prosecco at the small bar in the lobby and you could help yourself to a glass. The bar also always had a water station and a selection of candy for guests.
The staff were extremely helpful with suggestions for where to eat and what to see. I even met the owners — Manuel and his wife, Karin, who were very kind and very interested in why I had come to Florence for a longer stay than most of their guests. The staff even gave me a small gift when I left so I would remember my time if Florence.
My room and the hotel itself were impeccably clean. The location was perfect — a ten minute easy walk from the train station, a two minute walk to San Marco Square and to the Accademia where Michelangelo’s David is, a five minute walk to the Duomo, and a ten minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio.
I lived in Florence from 1969 to 1972 in my 20s and was returning in my 70s to enjoy Florence as I remembered it 55 years ago in the low season. It was so much less crowded than it is in the spring, summer, or fall and I was able to walk into all the museums and churches with no line-ups and in most places enjoy the artwork with no one there. Il Guelfo Bianco made my return even better. It felt like a home away from home. I felt very safe there on my own.
When I return again to Florence (hopefully this time with my husband in tow) we will definitely return to Il Guelfo Bianco. I will be recommending it to all my family and friends. Thank you, Il Guelfo Bianco, for a very special and memorable time in Florence.

I stayed at this hotel in early November. I was looking for a wheelchair-accessible room and was given an extremely cosy room with a bathroom equipped with a raised toilet, handles, a higher sink and a flush-to-floor shower. The room was also located on the ground floor , on the same level as the breakfast room , which was fully accessible. All rooms are extremely clean and the staff really nice and helpful. Special mention for its strategic location, which allows you to reach in no time Santa Maria del Fiore , as well as Galleria dell’Accademia. I will definitely return! Fantastic continental breakfast.

The staff at Il Guelfo Bianco is excellent - this includes front desk, kitchen, dining room, and maid service. Everyone is cheerful, courteous and kind. The front desk will offer you a free map. Take it. Even in the digital age, tt’s nice to have that piece of paper for reference. Something that I really appreciate is the proximity of all the local sites and activities. I walked everywhere locally and only took public transportation to visit Pisa.
I don't know what year the building was built but it is aesthetic and well cared for. It's stucco over brick construction and use of heavy timbers is what I consider classic Tuscan Style. The windows are beautifully wood framed and left in natural colors. This hotel boasts a wonderful collection of art and paintings, probably done by local artists and featured throughout.
My room was spacious, light and clean. I had a large armoire in my room instead of a closet. In it they provide extra pillows and blankets. My bed and pillows were the most comfortable I've ever experienced in a hotel. There is a fridge and complimentary water in the room. An owl lives in the courtyard outside my room. I enjoyed hearing him in the evening.
The complimentary breakfast or colazione is hearty and filling. They also provide bread, yogurt and fruit for the lighter eater. The dining room is kept open for use as a rally point or a place to enjoy a complimentary glas sparkling wine or coffee in the afternoon. They also feature a candy selection for your sampling pleasure.
Overall, I feel very fortunate to have stayed here. Consider this review a recommendation. There is no need to stay anywhere else in Florence.

We spent 4 nights in a double room sup 225 with a view of the inner courtyard. The room is large and tastefully furnished. After we turned off the air conditioning, it was very quiet at night. Only the beeping elevator takes some getting used to ☺ The bathroom is functional, has a rain shower and lots of hygiene products. The room cleaning was good. The staff is reserved, very friendly and helpful. There is something for every taste at breakfast. On the last day there was even delicious raw ham. Thanks to the nice weather, we were able to eat in the inner courtyard garden. We really appreciated the welcome champagne and water in the room as well as the free access to drinking water and local organic apples all day. The location of Il Guelfo Bianco is excellent.
We felt very comfortable and can highly recommend the hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for one night with my daughter, I asked for a disabled room suitable for a guest in a wheelchair, I was given a beautiful room on the ground floor without any kind of barriers, large, very clean with a bathroom equipped with all accessories for a disabled guest.
The staff is very kind and helpful, the structure is located in a very central area a few hundred meters from the cathedral. Excellent and extremely varied breakfast.

My husband and I stayed at the Il Guelfo Bianco Hotel for three nights while in Florence and it was a terrific experience. All the staff were very courteous, accommodating and helpful, the room was spacious and very clean, and the included breakfasts were delicious and served in a very comfortable space, either outdoors in a courtyard setting or indoors. Best of all was the perfect location for walking to many sights and neighborhoods. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Staying at this hotel was a truly pleasant experience! Located in a quiet area, but still close to the city's main attractions, it allowed me to easily explore everything I had planned without having to worry about travel. The rooms are spacious, clean, tastefully furnished and offer a comfortable environment ideal for relaxing after a busy day. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - from local restaurant recommendations to activity suggestions, they were really helpful and professional. The included breakfast was delicious, with a wide choice of sweet and savory dishes, fresh and tasty. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an enjoyable stay in this wonderful city!

We stayed 4 nights in August and the experience very good. The location is unbeatable, 3 min from the cathedral (actually everything is very close). The room was very comfortable and nice, (the bathroom a little small but with everything you need) and the breakfast very complete with a very attentive service that replenishes instantly. I would definitely come back!!

We stayed for 6 nights at this lovely hotel. We loved everything about it. Our spacious bedroom had a huge comfortable bed and a seating area with couch. The fridge was ideal for chilling our bottle of Rose. Bathroom was spacious and everything spotlessly clean. The staff are lovely - Margarita and Francesco at the front desk were friendly and helpful at all times. Breakfast was delicious - we loved the varied choices. And of course the location is the best of all - just 6 mins walk from Piazza Duomo and central to just about everything. If you're planning a trip to Florence, we highly recommend Il Guelfo Bianco. We found a hidden gem in the intimate opera performances at St Mark's Anglican Church (about 15 mins walk from the hotel). Don't miss it! They're on throughout the year, but not featured on the church website. Feel free to send me a private message if you'd like contact details where to buy tickets (at a fraction of the price of the more crowded venues offered by tour companies).

I choose this hotel due to forum reviews and a review from a guidebook. It was an excellent choice. The staff were friendly snd helpful, the room was a good size and nicely furnished, and there was a good breakfast with a few hot options and contenental fare. There was a coffee machine and although no kettle in the room, coffee and tea were available any time self service in the breakfast area. There was also prosecco in the lobby, a nice treat after a day of sightseeing.
Location-wise you could not do better. The Accademia, home of David, was 2 blocks away, and the Duomo a short walk as well. Upon leaving the building, you can see the corner of the Baptisery ahead. I don’t think it took more than a few minutes to get there, but admittedly I’m a fast walker. Florence itself is not a big city and nothing is further than a 20 minute walk.
I would absolutely stay here again. The only thing I’d point out that might be an issue is I stayed on a floor that the elevator only partially went to and had to carry my suitcase up a short flight of stairs. Not a problem for me (and not uncommon to Italian hotels) but if it is a problem it might be a good idea to ask when reserving if your floor is accessible totally by the elevator.
I’d rate this hotel a 10!
