We stayed in room 112, right next to the very noisy lift which you could hear every time it was used from the toom. The building and room is very dated and the air conditioning was very weak. Our so called double bed was just two beds pushed together, the TV was tiny and very old. Our window view was...

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Argentina. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was very good for the price. Close to Santa Maria Novella Station. Breakfast was great and it was very convenient to have internet access available (computer supplied by the hotel). Our room was a good size by Italian standards and everything was very clean...

We dropped our bags in the room then spent a wonderful evening sighseeing and drinking in the atmosphere. of Florence. We then returned to the hotel later in the evening after a superlative meal to a very dingy and loud room permeated by vespa's shooting off from the crossing below. The sound proof doors didn't close, the walls were marked...

The hotel itself is lovely, but we did have a few problems. There were four of us traveling so we booked 2 rooms. Both were supposed to have 2 twin beds but when we arrived we were told that they had us down for one room with 2 twin beds and one room with a king size bed. As a...

Excellent location for train and access to sites. Really odd shower, with shower head reluctant to cooperate, and funny little seat in the bottom. Very small bathroom. Really great breakfast. Free internet in lounge. Close to supermarket and laundromat.

Pleasant hotel, located 5 mins walk from the SM Firenze station. Large double room with patio doors opening onto a small terrace. Terrace was overlooking a busy street which was great for people watching, but the shutters and double glazed doors kept out the noise when required. Mini-bar and roomy clean bathroom. Small breakfast area which could be a bit...

The Hotel Argentina bought the Hotel Curtatone next door and opened a door in the wall. It has all deteriorated to the Argentina's low-level standards. When we got there we were confused because there was a paper arrow taped to the door of the Curtatone pointing to the Argentina entry. The lobby is a miserable hodge podge of furniture with...

This is the worst hotel I hav ever stayed in, It was old and tatty-despite what the pictures look like. The lift was really small and really old. The room itself was fine but no extras at all. Bed and wardrobe, no safe box, no hairdrier etc. The ensuite was tiny and the shower was really old. The manager was...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
