this hotel was decent. It was an old bldg. the rooms were really old, but it did the job. The breakfast area in the basement was decent. A lot of things needed to be updated. Overall, not bad. aside from the hotel, Florence is such a beautiful city. Words cannot describe it. you have to go there to see all...

Stayed here may 2017 for a long weekend 4 day break. The hotel is clean and quite basic but has all you need for your stay. It's location is just perfect in a nice park like square where you can walk to the main attractions. Really close to the train station, walking again, if you fancy visiting Pisa. Breakfast is...

I am extremely disappointed by this hotel. The staff protect the interests of the owner ,doesn't matter what you want.Family with a small child seated in two single rooms, which is unacceptable because we have paid for double.

We visited in March and was placed in the smallest room '310'. When asked about changing rooms, we were just told that we could not. There is hardly space for 2 people to move around in the room. The shower door was loose and reported to the staff. 3 nights later, the door was still not fixed. The room was...

Quite disappointed with our stay. On arrival we were given a room overlooking the main road. Now I realise that city hotels are noisy but it meant that we could not have a window open at any time as it was really really noisy until very late at night. No aircon outside of summer months. In asking for a different...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With the same hospitality accorded Dante at the Castello di Fosdinovo in Lunigiana, the descendants of the Marquis Malaspina have opened their Florence residence on Piazza dell’Indipendenza to offer modern hospitality with that touch and culture that makes Hotel Malaspina a truly charming hotel. The lady of the house, Benedetta Torrigiani Malaspina, has created elegant rooms with period furniture with inviting halls and parlors, where the intimate atmosphere resembling a private home is enhanced by the excellent comforts, superior among those proposed by 3 star hotels in Florence. Starting with the garage just steps from the hotel (a valet takes your car and brings it back when you want it) and reception open 24h.The TV room and lobby are very pleasant, ideal situations for relaxing or socializing over a cup of coffee or glass of Tuscan wine served by the bar reserved for guests and open from 8 in the morning until midnight. Those staying at Hotel Malaspina for business can also use a conference room which can hold up to 20 people. The pretty breakfast room offers a plentiful buffet with sweet and savory foods, typical Florentine sweets, juices and hot beverages. Guests can obtain all the information they need at the reception for visiting the city and our concierge service makes reservations for tickets to the most important museums and sights, music and theater performances, recommends and makes reservations for restaurants, guided tours and tours to the surrounding areas and transfers to and from the airport (plane and train tickets can also be purchased). ... more   less
