I suggest that what makes for a great stay in a hotel is hard to find on line. It is the warmth and attention of the proprietor. When a family can make you feel that you are truly welcome in their home, that’s the above...More

Very enjoyable few days in one of our favourite cities, Florence. very warm welcome, comfortable room and bed, delicious breakfast. Some excellent restaurants in the area and 1865 Residenza is highly recommended for your stay.
Stop and stare at the beauty and symmetry of the Basilica of Santa Croce any time day or night. Unraveling around it are a number of architectural and artistic masterpieces, from the Synagogue to the Central National Library. As a hub for young people, the area gets busy with people who want to have fun: a continuous flow of tourists and locals become animated by songs and dances.

Apologies for the delay in replying. It takes about 20-25 mins from the airport in a taxi. We arrived by train from Venice and it was only a 10 minute ride from the train station. When flying home, it couldn't have been easier - there is a button you press in the hotel and a taxi turned up 10 minutes later. I think it was about €25 with a tip.
I would thoroughly recommend this place.
