Last week we returned from Florence after spending 6 nights in the Hotel Orto de Medici. We chose the Hotel De Medici based upon the many excellent Trip Advisor reviews and their positive feedback and we can honestly say that this hotel exceeded our expectations. I emailed the hotel a few weeks in advance of our stay and advised them...

Thanks for your long review! I can just confirm what you wrote, highlighting how you were accurate and how you developed a high knowledge of the area during your stay! I am sure next clients will find your tips very useful. Glad to read also how you enjoyed room #80, a deluxe room in the renovated part around the garden....

This Hotel was perfect for the visitor to Florence, Walking distance to everything, Cheap enough but not too cheap. We had the upgrade to garden room which gave us a large quiet room with a fantastic bathroom.

I am very glad to read how you enjoyed the Deluxe Room with view on the garden. Those rooms are new and equipped with all the most modern facilities, plus a very large bathroom with shower/tub. The bed is king size and all the rooms have free wi-fi line.

My husband and I stayed at the Orto De Medici in March 2012. We could not have been more pleased. Our room had a garden balcony and a view of the Duomo and the Bell Tower. We walked to every single site you can imagine and it was very, very convenient. The staff is excellent: cordial, knowledgeable, courteous. The breakfasts...

We stayed here for 3 nights from 01-04 March 2012 based on Tripadvisor reviews. I found it to be of decent price and value. The breakfast, which had a great selection and was included is the main reason why I am giving the hotel a higher rating. The hotel decor is beautiful - giving it a very boutique hotel type...

Dear Mademoiselle, thanks for leaving your impression about how you enjoyed the selection of the breakfast, the room and the free wi-fi. I am sorry for the special maintenance inconvenience during your stay. It is something exceptional that happens once every 5 years or something. I really appreciate your suggestion of leaving a small gesture for such issues, I will...

Walking distance to leather market, Uffici, Accademia,Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, etc. A bit pricier than others, but well worth the little extra cost. Helpful staff, lovely outdoor garden terrace, comfortable rooms, nice bathrooms, free wi-fi in lobby plus two computers for guest use. Only small negative-breakfast room small, however manageable. Many restaurants nearby. Try Ristorante Trattoria da Tito. Exit hotel, walk...

My wife and I stayed here in February 2012 and very much enjoyed it. We had a garden view room. It was very roomy and the bathroom had a huge tub and seperate shower. The tv got a ton of stations (but only 1 English speaking one). They even left me a note on my birthday. The people at the...

my first time in this hotel and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Room was large and airy with a nice, clean bathroom, although the hotel is on a main road and our room overlooked the road, there was no disturbance from traffic or passers by. Hotel staff were polite and courteous and the breakfast was varied, plentiful and very continental. Hotel...

Dear Guest, if you are especially sensitive to noise you can make a special request for a room on the backside, or book a room with garden view. Nevertheless our street is pretty quiet, due to the Limited Traffic Zone where it is located in. I am glad that you were very satisfied with your hotel experience in Florence and...

Good: Friendly hotel staff, clean rooms. The hotel "breaths out" history and its location makes it ideal to visit all the nice and interesting places of Firenze. Two iMacs are available for everyone to use at the reception hall. Wi-Fi is free and available on every floor. On the first floor there is a great, quiet reading room / library....

Thanks for the nice feedback, I am very proud to read all the list of things you liked (Hotel history, computers, wi-fi, reading room, etc.) and that the only thing you disliked was leaving too early! There's always a good reason to come back to Florence, you can also check the events in town through our Facebbok fan page.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
