Me and my friend (both women) stayed in a mixed 9-bed-dorm for 3 nights. Unfortunately, we are unable to agree with all these positive reviews and here’s why: 1. The bathroom was covered in black mold. There was black mold everywhere on the walls and in the shower. After telling the receptionist, they sent someone to “get rid of it”. Eventually, someone had poured bleach over it and scrubbed it until it was superficially gone. However, not even a day later you could literally see the spots growing back because this cleaning method is obviously not how you get rid of mold which has probably been there for a really long time. This was honestly very shocking because this isn’t only a sanitary problem, this is legit a health hazard which should be taken seriously! 2. The breakfast. The breakfast is by far not worth what they charge you for. If you wake up even a little after 9:30, half of the buffet is empty and is not being refilled. At 10:45, the buffet was entirely cleaned up by the staff although it is supposed to last until 11:00. Furthermore, it isn’t tasty. You get dry toast with some store-bought jam and cheap spreads. 3. the Service. In comparison to other Ostello Bellos in differnt cities most of the staff wasn't really friendly in Florence. When asking for help, like getting new toilet paper when it was empty in our room, no one felt responsible to do their job. There were only one or two volunteers that were nice and helpful. Furthermore, the people at the reception could not help us when asking about basic information about Florence like directions or prices for taxis etc as they did not know the city either, which we feel should be a basic requirement for people working at a hostel. 4. Bathrooms. When booking a room please be aware, that there is only one bathroom in the dorm room, which is a joint shower, toilet and sink. There are two more toilets in the common area, but no other showers. So when someone is occupying the bathroom in the dorm, you have to wait until they are finished which could take a long time. Overall, there certainly are better hostels in the city. However the location is a huge plus, because everything is in walking distance from the hostel. Florence as a city is amazing, Ostello Bello Florence however has room for improvent.…
My best friend and I traveled through Europe and stayed here for 5 days while in Florence. Amazing vibe and excellent service. They have a great community and staff was friendly and willing to help in any way. Safe, clean, and great location!
The time I was there it was amazing. All the employees are gentle and always ready to help you. The nights there are super fun, because there are thematic nights such as karaoke and assemble your own pizza. And is the perfect place to meet nice people from different nationalities.
Kindest receptionist, clean and nice room. Overall great stay. Beds were comfy and the free drink was nice. Also having towels included was cool, usually you have to pay extra but not here! Also got a free room upgrade which was such an awesome surprise.
I stayed there for three nights as part of a work visit. It’s an odd place that I don’t quite understand. It’s a combination of hostel and hotel. I’m guessing I was about 30 years older than everyone else. That said, I loved it. The room was fine, breakfast fine too and I enjoyed the bar at the end of the day. Staff are friendly.i felt very comfortable there and the location is great.
I stayed at Ostebllo Bello Firenze September 16-19th, room 110. On the night of the 16th, the AC in my shared hostel room didn't work. They fixed it the next day after we complained and gave us a $5 free drink for our poor nights sleep due to the room being sweltering hot. THEN the next night on the 17th…. my hostel room flooded due to the toilet in the adjacent room running and overflooding all night. It soaked my backpacking backpack and a lot of my belongings with TOILET WATER. Disgusting. I spoke to the lady at the front desk and she said maintenance would clean it up. I said i demand some form of a refund due to the unlivable conditions soaking my belongings with toilet water that i then had to spend the day washing and drying, taking up precious time on my holiday. The lady at reception said she would reach out to her manager but he was out of town. I sent a follow up email after i left Florence and have yet to hear back from Ostello Bello Firenze. For being one of the most expensive hostels i have stayed at ($65ish a night), this is the worst and most disgusting hostel experience i have ever had. I have followed up with them via email and with no response. Ridiculous.…
This hostel was the best hostel experience I could have asked for. Truly. I booked for a few nights and ended up last minute extending for 3 more nights… I was incredibly grateful at how accommodating they were. It’s clean, hip, great location, and they are very intentional at creating a space conducive to meeting people. The space is always buzzing, youthful, and I would say set the bar incredibly high for any hostel. The staff was also super SUPER exceptional. They obviously know how to pick a solid staff that (and this is coming from someone that [probably] has too high of standards ;) ) . Otis, notably, went above and beyond. He totally set the atmosphere upon greeting. Not only was he super welcoming, he was also friendly, super accommodating, and was so personable that he made me feel like I was home away from home (also, low-key became my style inspo during my short stay, that seems irrelevant but it’s not). Genuinely really really sad to have left. But may cut my trip to France short and be back in the next few weeks.…
I have only good things to say about this home away from home. OB firenze welcomed me as a volunteer for a month. The hostel itself is colourful and beautiful. The events are super fun, diverse, and memorable. The trek from the train station with all your heavy bags is a grand total of 4 minutes long. But more than any of those things, I think the people are what make this place a gem. The people who work here are genuinely wonderful, each with character and each with something unique to add. Thank you for hosting me, I will always have a smile on my face when thinking back to my time spent under your roof. Bianca
Hostel was very good - had everything you needed and the atmosphere was great. At times the people at reception weren’t particularly friendly and there were a few issues with the room (leaking air-con, glass on the floor and broken USB port) but apart from that the room was good and beds comfy with plenty of storage. There was a bar downstairs and a terrace to meet others in the hostel
I've been in many hostels and this one is for sure in the top 3, if not the best. Everything was perfect, the room was clean, there was a lot of nice people and we just had a great time. The best part is the staff for sure, always smiling and ready to help you with whatever you need! I will definitely come back!
