Stayed at the Hotel Alessandra for 5 nights, starting May 29. The hotel is in a great location, less than 5 mins walk to the Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi, 10mins or less to the Duomo, very centrally located. The hotel feels more like a home than a hotel, it is warmly decorated and the hospitality and attentiveness of its owners...

We love this hotel and its owners and staff and recommend it highly. It is located within walking distance of many tourist sites and shopping areas. We had no problem with the stairs and elevator to the second floor (ages 63 and 67). But people who don't like stairs or have a medical problem might want to get further information.

My lifepartner and I stayed three nights here and had an excellent room, very good breakfast, and the service was wonderful. Monti was so friendly and informative when we checked in. The breakfast room was tasteful and the food quality very good. They make an excellent cappucino as well. The owner even allowed us to store a couple of bags...

This Hotel is in a great location. Andrea, Anna, night staff and kitchen staff were what make this Hotel so pleasant to stay in. They are very hands on natural, pleasant and helpfull. This hotel is charming but the staff even more so! Andrea and his mother Anna were most welcoming and helpful as were the night staff and Tatiana in the kitchen who made the best cappucinos in all of Italy. The location is so convenient; a few blocks from the Ufizzi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio and our room had a view...

Florence was the starting and ending point for my mom and my trip to Tuscany. Hotel Allesandra was terrific in accommodating our split stay -- even offering to store our bags as we toured the Tuscan countryside for 6 days. I cannot say enough good things about the service at Hotel Alessandra. It is EXCEPTIONAL. I frequently stay at 5-...

We stayed in a variety of hotels ranging from 2-to-4 star in France and Italy. By far, the staff at Hotel Alessandra outshone every hotel. From the minute we checked in, Andrea and his staff did everything they could to make us feel welcome, comfortable, assist us with reservations and provide their expertise regarding sites, restaurants, etc. My Italian is...

A delightful place. You'd think a hotel right off the Via Tournabuoni would be hoity-toity and expensive. Neither is true of the Alessandra. The location is great - a block from the Arno, between the Ponte Vecchio and the Ponte Santa Trinita. There is an art gallery across the street with a beautiful sculpture garden. The staff was very friendly...

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. We took a room with a shared bathroom and were worried about how that would work out, but it was never a problem. Bathrooms immaculate, almost always vacant, never had to wait, close to our room, convenient. I don't think we walked more than a few steps more than if it had...

The Hotel Alessandra was a fantastic place to stay - 20 years ago and today. The staff is warm, generous and always helpful. (Monti is by far the friendliest, happiest and most enthusiastic host I have ever encountered.) The rooms have been updated nicely and the breakfast was great. My double room was charming and the view from my window...

Staying in Uffizi

Neighbourhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) But please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
