Had an amazing time in Florence and part of what enabled that was Hotel De Lanzi’s amazing location. It was very easy to shop or eat and duck back into the hotel for a pit stop. The hotel is old, but that is evident and part of its charm. I wasn’t happy with the service - I asked to shorten a 6 night stay to 5 (upon check-in) and was told it was hotel policy to not allow this. Also I found the service hit and miss - sometimes you got attitude, sometimes you got smiles - dependent on the staff. The room was clean and had a great view of the Duomo. Not sure if I would stay there again, but happy enough to have been there.
I do not really require much out of hotel accommodations aside from a decent bed and a decent shower. This place was unable to provide either. We arrived to a room with a decent view of the beautiful cathedral but the shower head was broken. After a long day of travel, we wanted nothing more than to wash the travel sweat off with a decent shower. Instead we were greater with a shower head that fell apart the moment we laid a finger on it. We alerted the staff. A staff member came and popped the broken showerhead back together and told us that this room typically comes at a 20€ a night premium rather than accommodating our request for a room with a properly functioning shower. We were left not choice but to take a shower with water spewing every which way. As for the bed, it was too firm for our liking and we were supplied with three pillows as flat as pancakes. The last little annoyance was an improperly positioned mirror placed behind a TV, so the item was rendered basically useless. Breakfast was ok, and a few of the breakfast staff were the farthest thing from hospitable. On the positives, the hotel is very conveniently located. The staff are mostly friendly. The housekeeping staff were total rockstars. If location is your priority you can stay here. But if you are looking for a decent place to rest your head, I suggest you look elsewhere.…
The hotel is on a street just beside the Piazza del Duomo, you can literally see the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore from the front door. Given how walkable Florence is in general, having such a central location means you can walk to every prime attraction as needed, including the train station. The room we had was of a reasonable size for two people, with a huge king sized bed of moderate comfort, modern bathroom (inc. bidet), and a closet with a safe inside. The furnishings are a bit old but it didn't bother us. Access is via an RFID tag key that you must return and request again whenever you leave the hotel proper during the day. There is a charging hub with three Italian power sockets, and two usb ports which were incredibly useful for charging our gadgets. The room also comes with a modern AC unit, perfect for keeping the room cool during the Florentine summer. The staff at the desk were very pleasant and helpful, we had no issues there at all. They were also accomodating whenever we had questions about the city or needed help in general. There is a small (narrow) lift that can be used for all floors. Breakfast is included and it's the usual continental style with coffee, croissants, cheese, ham, cereals, and eggs. The desk is also staffed 24/7 so you'll have no issues checking in late / early. There are any assortment of restaurants and stores surrounding the hotel, though many are the typical tourist traps so it's recommended to head a bit further out of the area to find authentic food. Overall a great little hotel for the price, it provided us with great value overall and we'd happily go back.…
Perfectly centered in Florence, where everything is a few minutes away walking. Breakfast was good but closed early 😬😬. Elevators were very small. Staff was friendly and room was OK for my holidays. Worst bit: Room needs to extra illumination and needs more modern furnishing. Other than that, hotel was very good!
This hotel is exceptionally located in the heart of Florence, a few steps away from the famous Duomo. Rooms are quite big, especially considering the fact that it is in the centre. Breakfast was good, but not great. Enough to start the day however. Few options available, but no less than what was advertised.
Stayed at this hotel with a tour group. Great location close to all the sights, shops and restaurants and that's about it. Our room was located in what seemed to be a broom cupboard. Tiny room but nice bathroom. Too many stairs for elderly folk but does have a small lift. Breakfast was adequate but very cramped inside. Breakfast was a shamozzle with our tour group. Hotel seemed hot and stuffy and smoking area seemed a bit hit and miss. Staff at reception need a bit of training on customer service. Overall an ok stay just for overnight.
Nice enough room and service was good. Small dining room and lift. Nice common lounge area that our group used in the evenings to sit down and chat about the day. Very central which as good 100m from the Duomo.
We were in Florence for a family wedding and staff couldn’t have done more for us. The rooms are spotless, breakfast great, staff friendly and helpful and location fantastic. The hotel is literally 100 meters from the Duomo.
We couldn’t have picked a better location near to the main square and cathedral and a 15 min easy walk to the train station. Staff were ok and the breakfast was plentiful which set you up for the day. If I was ever to return to Florence I would stay here again for the location alone!
A very nice hotel in the heart of Florence! You can’t ask for more about the location and it’s very nice hotel and staff. The breakfast that’s included is also what to expect when you travel around in Europe. It’s quite near to the railway station, roughly 10minutes walk. I would recommend this hotel and lovely town to anyone.
