Quite enjoyable place for reasonable price with very friendly owners. As other travelers noted the place is situated in short walking distance from main station and main Florence historical sites. Only disadvantage of the room is one wall socket, so if you have more than one gadget, you’ll need adapter or hub with several nests.

Whilst holidaying in Tuscany we needed an overnight stay in Florence to give us time to really enjoy the city. We chose the Balcony Hotel for its ideal location within walking distance of the railway and the centre of Florence. Theoretically the hotel had everything we needed and the room was clean and the bed and linen were fresh and...

This is a small family-run hotel, run by a friendly couple (the wife is more fluent in English) and located about 5 minutes away from the Duomo. Candidly, this wasn’t our first choice – a neighbouring hotel where the rest of our family was boarded ran out of rooms, so we settled for this given its proximity and favourable reviews...

The hotel Balcony is unfortunately quite overrated on the internet, especially the breakfast :/ . The rooms are very small and just medium clean, so the price is not reasonable - maybe 60% of it makes the location. It was already quite cold in Italy and we just got a very old and not nice spread - the heater didn't...

Happy with correct selection. Staying here made our first visit to Florence a most memorable. Everything is over our expectation. You can not be wrong with it. Excellent location. Value for money. Quiet street. Spacious room.

Perfect location, 5 min walking from both train station and the Duomo and other major attractions. Very easy to spot it. Big and clean room but small bathroom. The owner's son is very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.

Short walk from SantaMariaNovella station and to Duomo. Small hotel. Helpful receptionist. No elevator. We had booked a budget room with small double french bed. Room was practical but a little dark and confined. Bed comfy, we asked for a larger bed-sheet and slept great. Ensuite suited us fine: good shower. Small vanity with good illumination. Con; small water sprinkle...

Very nice hotel for the price. Situated right downtown Florence which make it very convenient to travel within the city. Very close to train station. Room is quite small, like everywhere else in Italy!...not a big deal. Very nice terrace on the roof. AC worked well but the fact that we have to leave the card in the room to...

The location of this hotel is brilliant. The room was basic, but clean and everything we needed. The breakfast had a reasonable amount of choice and was a typical standard for a low-cost hotel. Machine coffee...in Italy? Maybe up the game there. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Pros: Location is awesome Close to the main railway station yet in a quaint street. Basically best of both worlds. The staff is really sweet and friendly :) Cons: Not a big deal but the room was quite small, as mentioned on booking.com Definitely recommended

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
