Luciano, the owner/operator of this small hotel in the heart of old town Florence, was extremely helpful, both prior to our arrival (emailing me directions for taking the train from the Pisa airport) and during our stay (giving us tips on which museums to visit: Bargello, Da Vinci, ...). Luciano speaks fluent English and French, and his love for his...

My wife and I recently booked our stay in Florence at the Hotel Locanda Orchieda. We stayed for 4 nights in early May, and our experience was above and beyond all expectations! We met with Luciano late on the night of our arrival. He arranged to come after check-in hours since our flight arrived in the evening. He was courteous...

We had such a memorable stay here in this family owned hotel in Florence. During our 4 night stay, Luciano and his wife were the most helpful people we have met in Italy. From the information sent to us before arriving at the hotel to the tip and advice they gave us whist there. They went out of their way...

Fantastic place...We spent only two nights in this small hotel and it was really worth staying there. Welcoming stuff, perfectly clean room and bathroom... Although the bathroom was shared, it didn't embarace us, as we had expected. We had a room, which overlooked at the courtyard, so we had a wonderful view and what was really important - it wasn't...

We had a very nice stay in Locanda Orchidea. The location is great, right next to the Duomo of Firenze, inside one of the oldest buildings in town. The rooms are very nice and the staff (family owned) is some of the kindest and helpful you'll ever meet in a trip. At that price, it's pretty much unbeatable.

Quaint, traditional and cosy, this hotel was such a find! The rooms are large and spacious with fantastic large window and shutters - we felt like it was a very authentic, Italian experience. Bed was super comfortable and the food had everything in it we needed. Communal area to borrow things like hair dryer and tea and coffee. Bathrooms are...

I really enjoyed my stay . This homie hotel is perfect for trip of two or solo. I was on my own .It was hard to get to the 3rd floor and no signs in the door however the stuff turned up to give me a hand in luggage .I was travelling with two suitcases not usual! The day before...

The staff at Orchidea were the kindest we'd come across, so helpful with info about the city and in email about arrival beforehand. The rooms were clean and overlooked the street which was amazing. It was noisy at night but we expected that being central Florence (4 mins away from Duomo) and the hotel provides earplugs! The location and staff...

A beautiful, perfectly located, cozy and romantic hotel I regret I only spent 1 night in... I definitely recommend this hotel, with its welcoming staff, clean and gracefully decorated rooms, the shared bathrooms I first thought would bother me but it was always perfectly clean and available. Bref ... great experience!

Stayed here for two nights in January. Te room was small but cozy and warm with a view over a courtyard. The location made site seeing around Florence very easy. The staff was very nice and non intrusive. Shared bathrooms were fine and I don't recall having to wait for them once. Would stay here again.

Thank Elliott B

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
