We have a tradition of traveling over the Christmas holidays and decided to visit Florence in 2022. We chose a charming B&B, La Casa del Ghiberti, to stay at based upon other great reviews. While Florence has many options, this B&B was a rare gem, and did not disappoint. It’s in the middle of the city center and a short walk to the Duomo, restaurants and shopping. We stayed in The Suite and were so impressed. It was spacious and very modern. The room had a large stand alone tub, in addition to a beautiful open shower and the most comfortable bed. The room was so comfortable we slept in a few of the days! However, the ceiling was the best surprise of all. It was like looking at a work of art right out of the Uffizzi Gallery. Andrea was a fantastic, very personable host and made us feel like family during our stay. The breakfast was great with plenty of options. Andrea was very helpful and provided lots of recommendations for restaurants and shopping. He helped us to really experience Florence like a local, stay off the beaten path, and stay away from all the tourist traps. An added bonus was his little dog Lola, who was a quiet little bundle of love ensuring we felt right at home. We will definitely be back and will recommend this wonderful location our friends and family!…
I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was wonderful. It was close enough to the tram from the airport to drag your luggage there but yet so quiet at night for being in such a central location. The rooms were very clean and had everything one would need. I appreciated that they had installed a couple USB plugs as well which meant I did not have to rely on the converter to charge my phone. Andrea made sure I had all my questions answered, packed me a departing breakfast as my flight was super early, arranged for a taxi but what meant the most to me was this. I was traveling solo and it was my birthday so when I came to eat in the morning he gave me a hug wishing me happy birthday and then had a cake with a hooray sign in it waiting on the table in the breakfast room. Stay here, you will not regret your decision! I hope to return in the near future and would certainly stay here again!…
We stayed at Casa Del Ghiberti in October. Andrea is a wonderful host and did everything to ensure our stay was comfortable. He went out of his way to provide gluten free breakfast and give restaurant recommendations. The bed was very comfortable, room was quiet and the bathroom was modern. Netflix on the TV was a bonus surprise! Would definitely book again. Grazie mille Andrea and Lola! Leonie & Matilda (Australia)
I had a wonderful stay here. The location is perfect - round the corner from the Duomo with all the main sights, station and airport close by. The rooms were spacious, tastefully decorated and quiet. I felt really at home and safe - which was especially important as a solo female traveller. Andrea, the host, was so lovely, friendly, welcoming and caring and really going above and beyond - even checking I’d got back to London safely after I left and always helpful with recommendations. I also loved the friendly house dog Lola!
My husband and I were traveling to Florence for the first time and we couldn’t have been more spot on with our accommodation! 1) the location is just pristine! All the top historical sites are a short walk away. Not to mention you’re situated right behind the Duomo. What’s better is, even though you’re on the heart of the city, you’re not bothered by the hustle bustle which is a great bonus! 2) Andrea the owner is absolutely amazing! It’s rare to find hosts who are that kind, welcoming and share great local recommendations! Laula, the in house dog was also probably my favorite part. 3) The rooms are super clean, large, and have a very cozy feel to them. The building might look old, but the owner has done a great job in renovating important bits like the bathroom. There’s a safe and mini fridge tucked away in the cupboard, tv shows tons of channels, and everything has wireless key access (the one key allows you to enter the building, apartment and room!) I’d highly recommend this place to all future visitors - it’s got the best of all worlds. We’ll definitely be back again ❤️…
When someone like Andrea is managing a property like this not only will you get a wonderful B and B experience but you’ll also have entertainment. I still think Lola though is still prettier than Andrea (right Andrea??) Rooms were renovated with great taste indeed and loved the spacious bathroom. The location of this place is definitely a 10 if you want to go around Florence. This could be my new choice if I decide to explore Tuscany in the future
It’s not often that you stay two nights in a B&B in a foreign city and feel that you’ve found “a home,” as well as a friend. But that’s exactly how we came away feeling after our stay at La Casa dei Ghiberti. The reason is owing to the amicable host/owner, Andrea, who immediately knew how to welcome two jet-lagged Americans and make our short stay in Florence a memorable one. The accommodations were super-clean, comfortable and modern, despite the age of the building. Of special note is the size and utility of the bathroom, which featured a full tub and shower in a land where guesthouse tubs are hard to find and showers often are tiny. Breakfast was ample and varied, with homemade baked goods courtesy of Andrea’s Mom. And the location was absolutely superb, a stone’s throw from Il Duomo and an easy walk to all sites within the city’s historic center. Andrea offered wonderful restaurant and touring suggestions, called cabs when we needed them, and even followed up with us after we’d left to make sure we reached our next destination safely. Who does that but a newfound friend? A newfound friend who, I must add, has the cutest dog ever (Lola), eager to offer high-fives to guests. Highly recommend this place, if glitz isn’t your thing, and you are looking for a warm and authentic place to stay in Florence.…
We stayed at the B&B for three nights. The location is very central, only a few blocks from the Duomo. The rooms are airy and comfortable. Andreas, the owner, is funny, welcoming, and gives excellent restaurant recommendations. I’m so glad we stayed here!
This is my very first time to visit Florence Italy and super host Andrea make our trip so memorable. I booked this B&B through website and I had no idea ahead of time of what to expect, other than it was a “B&B”( Bed & Breakfast). What a totally wonderful experience, super host Andrea, his auntie & Lola ( a little super cute dog) provided! You felt as if you were welcome into a home of a friend. There are five units in this building and delicious breakfast provided every day in a charming dining room and patio. The location of the B&B is perfect. Only 2 short blocks from the Duomo and on the quieter side. The large room we had were warm, clean and quiet. We stayed for 8 nights and I considered our stay at La Casa Del Ghiberti B&B to be one of the highlights about Florence. Along with the Duomo, Uffizi, Academia, Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio and so on, we felt so sad to leave and hope to return one day! Highly recommend this charming B&B to everyone who visiting Florence! Mille Grazie Andrea 😊 From J&J…
We can’t say enough good things about Andrea and La Casa del Ghiberti B&B. The location is centrally located close to the best shopping, restaurants and tourist attractions. The B&B is literally around the corner from the Duomo. My husband and me visited 3 countries and stayed in 7 different hotels which were “four & five star” hotels and 2 B&B’s during our vacation and La Casa del Ghiberti B&B was the best. I’m very picky about where I stay and I was impressed by how charming and very clean the rooms were. They were decorated very nicely, the beds were the most comfortable beds during our whole trip. They were so comfortable we overslept. The breakfast was so delicious, there was a good variety to choose from and also included homemade Italian pastries. I couldn’t get enough of them. Andrea, the owner of the B&B was so kind and helpful. He provided lots of great recommendations for dinner & tourist attractions (what to see and not see). He also had a great sense of humor, my husband and I left feeling like we had made new friends and became part of his Italian family. I also can’t forget about Lola. She is an 8 pound rescue well behaved, so sweet, loving and loves to give kisses. She even sits like a proper little queen. We loved it so much we made reservations to go back in a few months.…
