When I return to Florence, for a few years Accommodation at Casa Del Ghiberti. It is a stone's throw from the Duomo, renovated a couple of years ago, on the first floor of a building with elevator. The rooms are all 4/5, large and quiet, with king-size bed, extra pillows available, fridge to cool drinks, large and new bathrooms and everything is spotless. The breakfast is fantastic, with homemade products and, when the season allows, is prepared in the small outdoor porch. Andrea is a very helpful host, who among other things can give advice to find great restaurants almost unknown to tourists. I will always return in my stays in Florence.

It isn’t until tomorrow that I must leave this fabulous B&B right around the corner from the duomo, but I have an overwhelming desire to share my comments now. Easy to find - a 15 minute walk from the tram station. Just wow! The rooms are beautifully decorated, sparkling clean and unimaginably comfortable. This particular room has a huge tub and separate shower - both placed before a window that opens up to a beautiful section of the building across the street. The setting could easily be a magazine photo! More than ample storage in an antique armoire, a writing desk and an oh-so-comfortable king size bed. Espresso or tea in the room, television (but you’ll never want to turn it on), mini fridge, hair dryer, and the best thing: luscious, fluffy towels!!! In the sunny breakfast room, right off of a small terrace, there is a lovely assortment of sweets, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs, cold cuts, cereal, bread, and the option of several types of coffee. You can enjoy the end of you day on the terrace with a selection of beverages offered in a mini bar fridge - and if you’re lucky, Lola the resident pup will come out to spend time with you. The B&B host, Andrea, is energized with a dedication to his profession and a meticulous standard of maintaining his superb establishment - all driven by his incomparable sense of humor! If I were fortunate enough to return to Florence on a regular basis, La Casa Del Ghiberti would always be my home as I will leave a bit of my heart here.

This was my third time staying at Casa Del Ghiberti and I’m about to book a fourth visit! Andrea, the host is very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I treated myself to the ‘Suite’ room this time which is beautiful with its ornate wood ceiling and a glimpse of the fascinating history of this building. Andrea has created a very comfortable, stylish and spotlessly clean b&b and you would struggle to find a better location in central Florence. Thank you for another lovely stay.

5 stars! + a million stars! The bed is large and comfortable, firm but also soft?! It was the first time in a long time that our joints didn't hurt when we woke up. The breakfast is an outstanding continental breakfast with many lovely touches, including the pot of coffee, made well and strong, for the Americans. :) The bathroom is spacious, with a great-water pressure open shower on a stone floor on one side where the water is contained, drains off, and the floor does not become slippery.
The owner, Andrea, made us feel right at home. He recommended a fantastic legit local restaurant, and helped to make our reservation, for the best ever Florentine steak, actually thick and pink and delicious. That meal, as well as our stay here, are big highlights of our time in Florence.
This B&B is homey, comfortable, and incredibly located, it's just around the corner from the Duomo. And very reasonably priced, which is a true find in Florence. You go up two half-flights of stairs to reach the B&B, not enough steps to think about counting them, maybe 28.
We have found our spot in Florence, this is where we will always stay when we are lucky enough to visit this fabulous city. We are thankful for Andrea, and also for other Trip Advisor reviewers who led us to this spot. Highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of staying at La Casa del Ghiberti Florence in early July 2024. I was traveling with my parents who are in their late 70s. The B&B is just blocks from the main Florence sites making it easy to access the city on foot. The rooms are beautifully appointed, accessible and comfortable. In the heat of the summer, the AC was a lifesaver. The daily breakfast was wonderful. A daily variety of fresh fruit, pastries, breads, meats and cheeses. As a single woman traveling in a large city, I felt incredibly safe at this inn. In order to access, you had to pass through three secure locked doors/gates. Above all the physical comforts, it is the warm atmosphere that would bring me back again and again. I felt like I was staying in a friend’s house. Andrea made you feel welcome the moment you arrived. He had great local restaurant recommendations and always responded promptly to questions or requests.

Florence is a beautiful city with just so much to see, so much history, art and culture.
However my wife and I did not enjoy our stay at "La Casa Del Gilberti" The welcome was not very nice at all.The owner is racist calling us "Terroni"(as we are from southern Italy originally) I think that was the spark that caused the fire.
Breakfast was abysmal with a selection of old, expired cakes. No cooked selection. not even scrambled eggs. One choice of juice.A few scraps of salami and cheese(This is Northern Italy, birth place of salamis and cheeses).Awful coffee machine, the cappuccino is made with powdered milk so tastes horrible. The entrance to the building is ghastly and has an incredible smell of sewer. Rooms are clean and decent and beds comfortable, however the room was either hot or cold with the noisiest heating system I have ever heard, we had a limited selection of tea and coffee with one sugar sachet to last us three days. The water smells and tastes of bleach.
Sorry, not going back anytime soon.

This is our favourite place to stay in Florence! First, the location is perfect. It is in the city centre and close to the Duomo, but on a quiet residential street. You can easily walk to all the tourist attractions, the central market, shopping, and many great restaurants. Next, the b&b is on the second floor and there is an elevator if you need one. The room and ensuite bathroom are modern, spacious, and kept very clean. Even though we faced the street, we found it quiet and the bed and pillows were so comfortable! We also appreciated that sound did not travel from other rooms. The breakfast is served from 7:00-10:00 and there was a great variety of items to choose from, like cookies, pastries, cakes, toast, hard-boiled eggs, ham and salami, cheeses, cereal, and yogurt. We loved the coffee machine, where you can get cappuccino, americano, espresso, mocha, or hot chocolate! Last but certainly not least is our host Andrea. He is friendly, outgoing, and helpful. When we asked for his recommendation for bistecca fiorentina, he suggested a cozy restaurant called Zio Gigi just around the corner. He took us there to introduce us to Gigi and we had an awesome dinner with delicious steak and roast potatoes! Amazing! When we mentioned that the macarons at breakfast were so good, he made a point to save some for us every day! Our experience in beautiful Florence was made even better by Andrea and our stay at La Casa. Thank you Andrea!

This was our first visit under the new ownership of Andrea who has spent endless time, energy and creativeness during Covid updating and remodeling Casa Del Ghiberti. All the rooms have been modernized to the highest standards and care. The beds are the most comfortable and it was difficult to want to think of getting up the next morning….but Firenze and all of her treasures to see are only steps away. The rooms are so sound proof we never heard any outside noise. Breakfast choices include sweet and salty selections…all the sweet ones are homemade by his Mother. I must finally say Andrea goes out of his way to be the HOST with the mostest….his enthusiasm and need to make your visit A Plus without any hitches makes Casa del Ghiberti the best place to call home during your stay in Firenze.

I have always thought that the attitude of a place or person when issues crop is the most telling. Contrary to all these positive reviews of this place, we had a terrible experience with Casa del Ghiberti. The owner was rude, aggressive and he was downright horrific to deal with. He told us point blank that he didn’t want us there and we should leave soon after we arrived. He kept very aggressively stating that we didn’t pay him. We tried to explain we booked this through Agoda and we were charged a few weeks ago but he would not listen, said he had never heard of Agoda and kept loudly insisting that we didn’t pay him, even when we explained the situation.
First time in the this city with large luggages with us and he threw us out of the accommodation without having even the consideration or decency to discuss things calmly or allowing us to sort things out with Agoda while in the accommodation. Mixups can sometimes occur during travel but these usually can be resolved with the patience and cooperation. There was none of that in this place
He was so aggressive, the likes of which I’ve never encountered anywhere else in Italy or anywhere else in the world especially from an accommodation.
I’m glad my husband was with me. Felt very unsafe in this place with that owner and I shudder to think how it would be if I were on my own. We had to duck in a cafe nearby to quickly find another place to stay last minute which is not great in peak tourist season. Please stay anywhere else in this Florence but this place. What a horrible man
