We personally enjoy welcoming our guests, we wish to reinvent the concept of hospitality, and we have the inspiration to provide the warmth of home in every detail. This is how the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1, Florence came to be: a tower-house built in the mid-12th century by the Guelph family of Ruggerini. At the beginning of the 20th century, this palace became "Pensione Piccioli," and quickly turned into a privileged residence for aristocrats and English writers. Closed after the Great War, Pensione Piccioli reopened in 2001, as a Period Residence called "Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1." Thanks to attentive restoration to preserve all its original charm, the evocative ambiance of the Palace on Via Tornabuoni has regained life and warmth. This magnificent complex is considered one of the typical "tower-houses" of Mediaeval Florence, and, to this day, it still preserves all its characteristic architectural elements: it is an admirable example of the human ability to convert buildings built for war into oases of peace, culture and hospitality. In this ancient tower, we have created a world of harmony, privacy, and attentiveness to our guests' needs. Luxury, peace, and beauty are all in traditional Italian style, and give the concept of comfort new aesthetics. Almost all rooms enjoy an enchanting view of the city or the Arno River, and all are furnished with the highest in comfort: satellite plasma TVs, DVD players, wireless internet connection, direct line telephone, minibar, electronic safe, air conditioning and heating, private marble bath with tub and/or shower, hair dryer, slippers and shoehorns. Some of the Rooms and Suites are decorated with a Renaissance flair: with frescoes, drapes in coloured precious fabrics, bathrooms in red Alcantara or Gold Calacatta marble, and romantic four poster beds.

Nestled in a prime spot, Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1 is lauded for its exceptional location near key sights and convenient access from the train station. The rooftop terrace, offering panoramic views, adds a luxurious charm that guests adore. The Antica Torre in Via Tornabuoni is a pearl in the heart of Florence, perfect for those looking for a boutique hotel with excellent value for money. Located in one of the most elegant streets of the city, this historic residence combines charm, comfort and impeccable hospitality.
The rooms and bathrooms are incredibly spacious, a rare detail for the center of Florence, and offer a welcoming and refined atmosphere, with design details that respect the building’s history without sacrificing contemporary luxury. I stayed in room 403.
The real jewel of the hotel is the panoramic terrace on the seventh floor: the breathtaking view of the rooftops of Florence and the Duomo creates a magical atmosphere, especially in the morning. Breakfast here is an unmissable experience, with a great selection of fresh and quality products, served in a unique location.
If you are looking for a boutique hotel with charm, comfort and an exclusive touch, the Antica Torre in Via Tornabuoni is the perfect choice. A stay that leaves its mark, between history, elegance and an unforgettable view.

We were in Florence for only four nights and location and services were important for our short stay. After viewing many hotels and reading reviews we decided on Antica Torre. Discrete and private on the luxury shopping street in Florence our stay was everything we wanted. Our suite (the Romantic Suite) on the 5th floor with large windows overlooking the Arno provided us with daily views of the river and activity of Florence by day and night. The room was spacious with a separate shower (very important to us) and a small ante room with a spa bath. The king bed was extremely comfortable and electrical outlets on either side made charging our phones and ipads very easy. The room was extremely quiet and we never heard any noise. We felt the tower was our own little cocoon. On our first night we enjoyed a light dinner in the “breakfast” room as the roof top bar is undergoing renovation. We appreciated this as it was a rainy evening and our arrival had been delayed by a late flight. Our rate included breakfast which was wonderful. Each day there many of the same offerings but also something different and enjoyable. The hotel arranged for transportation when needed and was timely. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We have already begun to plan our return trip to Florence and when we are there we will definitely return to the Antica Torre and the Romantic Suite. Thank you everyone.

I can’t imagine choosing a better hotel in Florence, with its superb location right in the centre of this most beautiful of cities, a stone’s throw from the Ponte Vecchio and a 5-minute walk from the Duomo. We stayed in a Deluxe room, which although smaller than anticipated, was well-appointed with a supremely comfortable king bed and a very nice shower with good water pressure in the bathroom. The hotel boasts one of the best rooftop terraces in town, providing a fantastic view over the rooftops of Florence, the Duomo and Giotto’s bell tower. It’s a wonderful place to sip your evening drinks. Sometimes music wafts up from the streets below. The bar inside offers the same view through its large panoramic windows. Breakfast offered a nice hot and cold selection, as well as (limited) seating outside on the terrace overlooking the Arno river. The service throughout the hotel was impeccable. It was perfect in every respect, although not cheap!

We booked a Romantic Junior Suite which was huge and very luxurious. The bedroom has two huge windows that opened up right onto the river with amazing views. The bathroom was a shower and toilet, with a separate spa bath at the end of the suite. Another highlight was the rooftop bar and breakfast areas. Both offer incredible views over the city of Florence. This hotel was one of the most amazing places we've stayed.

We stayed here for the first three nights of our honeymoon in Tuscany and we absolutely loved everything about it. The room was beautiful and spacious with stunning views of the Arno. The breakfast was delicious. Staff were kind and attentive. The location couldn’t be better— a 10-15 minute walk (or less) to almost everywhere we went, including in the Oltrarno. We highly recommend checking out the rooftop bar, which has a great view of the Duomo.
The Antica Torre is a hotel that feels unique. They’ve restored and maintained this building so beautifully and have really thought of every detail. We absolutely hope to stay here again!

When I book a hotel, my main concerns are location, hospitality, and views—and Antica Torre Tornabuoni more than lived up to my expectations. The staff was accommodating and always willing to heed your wishes. I asked for a room with lovely views, and they made sure to assign me a pretty room that exuded Victorian vibes and had the most spectacular views of the Arno River.
Speaking of views, the hotel's terrace offers a 360-degree view of Florence. I made a point of going to the terrace both in the morning and evening—seeing the beautiful Renaissance city laid out in front of you is a surreal experience. It almost feels like you can touch those buildings and towers of Florence! They call the path to the terrace "gateway to heaven," and when you get there, you know exactly why.
It's also conveniently located within a 10-20-minute stroll of all the city's major tourist attractions.
If you're on the fence about this hotel, don't be! With its prime location, attentive and kind staff, majestic views, and proximity to vibrant shopping, Antica Torre Tornabuoni is truly one of Florence’s gems.

We had a fantastic stay in the beautifully decorated romantic suite which had magnificent views of the Arno River. Breakfast was delicious and the view from the many terraces was breathtaking. The location couldn't be more perfect, being 10 minutes from the train station and within walking distance of all major Florence attractions.

We had a really wonderful stay at the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni:) the hotel is not very big, with the reception on the ground floor and then the rooms on floors five and six. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a fabulous view over the river. The breakfast is wonderful, and there is a super rooftop terrace overlooking Florence on the seventh floor which is really something special. I wouldn't hesitate in returning back.

Hotel within walking distance to Ponte Vecchio, Uffizzi and Duomo and other landmarks. Hotel was unique, clean and staff were friendly. There is a beautiful roof terrace which had fabulous views and was very relaxing and quiet. A lovely way to spend an afternoon/evening. Our room had a lovely view of the River Arno and was a good size. Our room was very hot, so we slept with window open, but the weather was particularly mild for the time of year. We didn't mention anything to the hotel staff. We didn’t realise beforehand, but the room did not have tea/coffee making facilities, which we did miss. It did have a small fridge which was replenished with water each day. Breakfast overlooking Florence was a treat. Great selection of food each day and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The only real disappointment was that on Christmas Day the breakfast hot food was cold. Someone had not warmed the serving dish so our meals had to be microwaved. It’s disappointing that the hotel does not serve dinner (it does offer a small selection of meals on the terrace), but we were aware of this prior to booking. However, there are plenty of restaurants all within walking distance of the hotel though. We would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Antica Torre. Our room was very large with a balcony facing the river. The room was very clean and refreshed daily. The decor is well done, more like a friend's apartment than a hotel. We only went to the front desk to check in/out. After that the elevator to the rooms is in a different area. The building is a mix of hotel rooms and other businesses. It didn't bother us, but it is unique. Breakfast on the top terrace was wonderful since you had a great view and could sit outside. If you prefer anonymity while traveling this is the perfect hotel in a truly great location.

It's basically the view, one side is facing the main monuments in Oltrarno and the other is facing on Via Tornabuoni and the main monuments in the main center.

Hi:
I am not sure about that. I recall except for the restaurant, the outdoor terraces are really for the guests but you should call and ask the hotel. I would think if you go there for lunch or dinner that would be no problem. I would also think that if you went while the bartender was on duty that work be ok. Best to ask the hotel as it is worth a look and would be a nice place to have a drink overlooking the city.
There are more places to choose from in the Florence area.
