We actually stayed in the Dependence B&B San Lorenzo, the hotel's additional location right around the corner in the piazza of the San Lorenzo Basilica. The manager, Lodovico, was so extremely helpful and friendly -- He was one of the best B&B managers we had on our 16-day Italy trip/honeymoon! The hotel is in the perfect location -- Florence in...

This place was great. We've been home a month and I keep thinking about Florence and I just wish we were back and could squeeze into that teeny elevator and head up to the hotel & check in for a long stay! Unbelievably close to the Duomo, as well as across the street from the greatest coffee shop ever...how cool...

I stayed alone in a small, yet completely sufficient two-person room in a section of the hotel which, I was told, once formed part of a medieval tower. The room itself had lots of character and charm. The ceiling was high, and contained part of the original fresco mural. The window was large and the view looked out onto the...

Location is right next to the Duomo and in fact my room window opened out to the view of the Duomo right smack in my face. More importantly, Ludovico (Ludo), the owner and also staff who mans the place most of the time, is extreme knowledgeable about Florence and had given me great recommendations on places the locals go to...

This place is so cute and charming, definitely not your average chain hotel. The location is the best - walkable to the train station and we could see the Duomo from our window. It is a little noisy outside, being in a touristy area, but we had a fan that kept us cool and drowned out the noise. The staff...

The biggest asset for this hotel are the owners, in my opinion. We arrived a bit late due to train delays and found them waiting for us when we did finally arrive. We had no problem finding the place, there is a sign outside the hotel entrance with the hotel name, and once we were inside, there is a sign...

We spent 5 Nights to this one star Hotel. Amazing location, the service was perfect, i felt like been to a 5 star Hotel. All the staff were very very nice, all kind and helpfull on anything. They Served for us the entrance to the Museums just with a phone call and we skept the entire line to enter. The...

The location of the hotel can only be described as excellent, - in relation to all the big tourist attractions, the longest we had to walk was 20 minutes and that was to the Uffizi Museum. However, its closeness to the Duomo square can also cause problems. Due to the temperature of the room (which was very warm and only...

My husband and I stayed at Hotel San Giovanni for 4 nights in March of 2010. The room was roomy and comfortable. The bathrooms and showers were right across the hall and we never had a situation where we had to wait to shower. There was a sink in our room, which was nice. The shower water was hot and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel San Giovanni is a characteristic old worldly Florentine pensione. It is located in the heart of Florence's historical center right on the corner of Piazza San Giovanni (the cathedral square). This superb location means all of city museums, galleries and other tourist attractions are within a short walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is located in two medieval tower buildings that in the 16th century became the bishops private residence. Today it is still possible to see in some of the rooms the original frescos.
