Me and my husband stayed in this hotel on our multi-city tour of Italy and by far this hotel was the worst we stayed in on our trip. The room was all drag with plain white walls and a bed which gave a hospital bed kinda look. In fact the whole room had a hospital look. There were no towels...

2 adults/2 teenagers stayed for two nights. We had no sleep during our stay! Large studio suite was on second floor on busy street side. Bus stop right under window. Very loud throughout the night and could hear all activity on the street. Cars, scooters, drunks. This took away from the entire experience as we were very tired after spending...

Management response:

Dear Tripadvispr User, I thank you for your comments. The problem you are pointing out is going to be solved soon. The new Apartments where you stayed are very well equipped (Lcd Tv, Internet in the room) and I am glad you did some pictures showing the size, colours and facilities. We have already ordered double size window for those...

The hotel itself is pleasant, reasonably priced and close to sights and attractions. We checked in and the staff was polite and efficient. The room was clean and well appointed. The trouble began when we found that the AC in our room was non fuctional. We complained at the desk and they assured that it would be repaired. We complained...

This hotel is in a convenient location, modern, clean, and very affordable. The SMN train station as well as a post office is directly across the street. The hotel has staff and internet access available 24 hours a day. Even though we reserved a room for 2 people, we had a suite with a king bed and a single bed...

We stayed at the Hotel Delle Nazione from 16th-20th May 2005, having booked through Expedia at a cost of around £65 per room per night. We had booked a double room for our stay, but were given a triple room on the first floor at the rear of the hotel. The room was very spacious - even for three people,...

Recently stayed 3 nights at the Delle Nazione. It was a really good deal - £155 total including breakfast. The location is very convenient for the main station although a little walk into town - gets a bit much 3 return trips in a day. The hotel rooms are modern if a little small but ones at the front are...

We stayed at Delle Nazioni for two nights in April. The hotel is right across the train station S.M.N. which is great. The rooms are big, comfortable and clean. The hotel is either new or lately renovated cause it looks very nice inside and the decoration is very pleasant, modern but warm. There is free internet access in the lounge(didnt use it,...

We arrived early (12:30 pm) and checkin time is not until 2:00 pm. We asked if we could leave our luggage here while we went sight seeing. We were told we could leave our luggage in the room over by the front door - there is no lock on the door and anyone has access to this room. There is...

We stayed at the Hotel Delle Nazioni for 4 nights in March 2005. We had a triple room on the 4th floor, at the back of the hotel. The room was clean with plenty of space for the three of us, and we had a balcony with a lovely view of rooftops of Florence. The staff were friendly and helpful,...

The front desk area was all new and clean, so was the bar. They even had free computer internet access and that area was nice. The breakfast in the morning was a normal euro affair. But the rooms were lacking luster. The whole hotel looked new and clean and the rooms were about 20 years behind. They were dark and...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
