Elegant hotel, perfect location on the Plaza Santa Maria Novella! Helpful & friendly staff, especially Lila. Enjoyed our complementary breakfast each morning in the charming dining area. Will stay here again on our next visit. Thanks for making our stay as comfortable as possible! Nan Huyser
On our round trip through northern Italy, we stopped in Florence from 19.7-20.7.22. We had booked a basic double room at the Domus Florentiae Hotel via an online platform. The hotel is very centrally located in the restricted car zone. About 10 minutes walk from the cathedral. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary to reserve a parking space in advance. Cost 28 euros per night. The car is driven to the garage via a valet service and brought to the front of the hotel on departure. The hotel is old and you can see that in the rooms. You are in a museum. Old furniture, thick velvet curtains and bed covers. We got our room directly opposite the breakfast area. We didn't like the room or the bathroom very much. However, this is not due to the cleanliness or functionality. It is not our style, old-fashioned. The breakfast is not really good. It doesn't offer much. Too poor for a 4 star hotel. The staff is very friendly, helpful and also local. They do their best. We would not book the Domus Florentiae Hotel again.…
We had a great stay here. It is easy to walk here from the Santa Maria Novella train station, and it is within walking distance to a delicious restaurant, La Spada, and a local grocery store. The staff at the reception desk were friendly and helpful, as well. They gave us recommendations for how to get tickets for the Uffizi Gallery, and for the restaurant I mentioned. The breakfast was also simple, but charming, and was held on a small outdoor terrace.
The entire staff made our one week stay very pleasant! Smooth check-in and check-out transaction with good wifi connection. The price is very reasonable considering its perfect location, very close to the SMN train/bus station which helped our day trips to Milan and Siena. The hotel concierge has shown us excellent service with a very friendly attitude, respect and professionalism. They will greet you at every instance they see you and are always ready to assist. On our last night, we forgot to make reservations in a restaurant and Aruredi (sorry if I butchered the spelling) picked- up the phone and made one for us! He also helped us find a pet sitter for my Mom's pup when she visited us so she can join us to the museums. The breakfast was very affordable, with a nice morning view as the city and people starts to bustle the surroundings. A hotel with its own charm, its from the 16th century residence not The Ritz so please don't expect all the bells and whistles but your sheets and pillowcases are always changed fresh and very clean with the nicest staff! We will definitely come back to this hotel.…
My fiancé and I were supposed to stay at this hotel for a portion of our honeymoon but had to cancel due to COVID-19. We reached out to cancel and get a refund and were told by Enzo “The reservation is valid and there are no problems now to come in Florence. We are not able to cancell and refund money.” So per Enzo, it is apparently okay for travelers from the United States to stay at his hotel despite Italy not allowing Americans in and all of our flights and other hotels being cancelled? It’s ridiculous and this place is a scam. 10/10 do NOT recommend booking this hotel due to their inflexibility and unkindness!
We stayed at this hotel at the end of September for 6 nights. It is very close to all museums and the main train station. However, it is facing one of the main squares in Florence and it is very very noisy and very hard to sleep. Drunk people in the area are fighting and screaming in the middle of the night making it impossible to sleep. This is NOT a four start hotel. The room they gave us was so small, it was almost impossible to move around the room. The beds are very small and uncomfortable. Housekeeping was very poor. Do not believe the pictures on their website!!! The room and the bathroom are dated. The staff is very nice and helpful. I would not recommend this hotel.
The hotel is located only 5 mins walk from Santa Maria Novella train station, next to Basilica di SM Novella, and only a few yards to the start of the T2 Gest tram line to Florence's Peretola airport, which leaves every 10 mins from 5.00am and takes about 20 mins to the airport (only 1.50 euro each). Unfortunately we made a mistake and booked the smallest room in the hotel which was terrible, so I will provide general observations about the hotel and can still only give it a 3 rating at most. It is a very old building and in need of refreshing. It can be very noisy outside most of the night and early morning as it is located at one of the entrances to the Piazza. The breakfast is average and the seating area inside only has four tables, although there is a larger some seating outside if it is warm enough. The hotel is only 10-15 mins stroll to the main tourist areas of the city: duomo and cathedral, Piazza della Repubblica (for restaurants and street performers), Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio bridge, Mercarto Centrale. Also, don't miss the views from high up at Piazzele Michaelangelo (park) across the river. You can also visit Pisa, which has a much larger airport and takes about an hour by train.…
Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is small but lots of pro’s and would recommend. Very close to SM Novella train station. Essentially across the street. We walked with 2 large suitcases and found it easy enough to get here. The location is good, essentially about a 5 minute walk to the Duomo and the main sights of Florence are all within easy walking distance. Staff were all friendly and pleasant. Our room was nice and spacious (loved the high ceilings!). The decor is classic (maybe a little dated) but added to the charm of the hotel. The breakfast is lovely purely for the setting. There is a few tables out on the terrace which was nice to sit out on each morning. There is a plenty of the usual Italian offerings. The A/C in the room was good and easy to operate. We found this very quiet at nights and couldn’t hear any noise. Would definitely recommend people to stay here! …
This central Florence Hotel is ideally situated close to the railway station and tram to the airport. It has an old fashioned charm and a level of service which was invaluable when we were victims of pickpockets and had a passport stolen. Every member of staff went out of their way to help us, and they managed to provide us with last minute accommodation. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!
I was very pleased with my experience, although I was only able to stay for one night. The room was gorgeous and had a very nice bathroom. Decor is very classic and classy. The staff were very kind and hospitable. I did not have breakfast, only coffee, but there were many options and the best part was sitting in the beautiful terrace. Location was perfect- 5 minute walk from the train station and located right on the plaza of Santa Maria Novella. If you have good taste, but can't spend a fortune, this is the perfect hotel.
