We selected Hotel Santa Maria Novella based on reviews, pricing, and the photos on their website. This hotel was just as beautiful in real life as it was presented on line. The staff was cheerfully helpful. We were travelling with our adult son and daughter so booked two rooms. It is worth booking a superior room for a little more...

We had a wonderful 6-night stay at the Santa Maria Novella Hotel in Florence. This hotel was a less than 5 minute walk from the train station. The rooms are beautifully decorated in old European style and comfortable and we had a view of the Santa Maria Novella church and piazza. The included breakfast was very good and included some hot...

As It was our first visit to Italy, I was apprehensive about booking a hotel, sight unseen and unknown to us. But I can assure you that we chose wisely. Hotel Santa Maria Novella is a beauty...professional friendly staff, immaculate spacious accommodations and located on a lovely piazza and near to all major sites. The rooftop deck was an oasis...

We stayed at the Santa Maria Novella for 6 nights in a junior suite. It was the best experience of our trip. The room was large and beautifully decorated in an old european style. The bathroom was renovated with marble. If you opened the windows you could hear church bells and children playing in the very quiet piazza. The breakfast...

The hotel gives onto Piazza Santa maria Novella. We had a very nice room on the second floor, one with a very nice and practical balcony, where u could relax after a long day of visits... The girls at the desk were very nice and helpful but there was as well a man there that wasn't as nice. The wi-fii...

We stayed three nights at this hotel and loved it. The rooms were beautifully appointed with large windows with great air flow. It is a five minute walk from the train station and a ten minute walk to the Duomo and the shopping areas. The air conditioning was so appreciated as it was hot when we were there. Our room...

I visited Florence recently with my husband who is handicapped and uses a rollator and mobility scooter. We stayed at the Hotel Santa Maria Novella and were very pleased with the facilities and service. Italy is far behind the US when it comes to facilities for the handicapped, but this hotel was largely accessible overall. Elevators and bathrooms worked well...

We stayed here with two other couples for two nights. The hotel staff was very accomodating and helpful. The location is within an easy ten minute walk from the train station and is in a beautiful piazza with restaurants close by. We planned ahead for a walking tour called "Taste of Florence" and I can't say enough about how much...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
