Last night tonight, so thought I'd write the review whilst I have time. Out of all of the hotels we've stayed in around the world, J K Place far exceeded our expectations, and only two hours flying time from home. From the minute we arrived, the staff (everyone of them), were so friendly and welcoming. The service was impeccable and...

This small boutique hotel is located centrally on the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. Not surprisingly it is also close to the Santa Maria Novella rail station which allows for easy travel elsewhere in Italy. On arrival we were looked after in the small outdoor area on the Piazza while our room was prepared. Interestingly, although we sat at watched...

The hotel is beautiful, breakfast was delicious and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. 2 min walk from the train station and handy for all attractions. I would definitely stay here again and recommend. The roof terrace was amazing although a little cold for us to enjoy !

So many hotels seek to fulfil that strapline of 'home from home.' This is the closest I've ever experienced. JK Place is a small, beautiful jewel. The 20 rooms give an intimacy that adds to the charm, whilst there is none of the awkwardness that can come with too much intimacy. The decor in the public areas is both stylish,...

Now that the works in Piazza Santa Maria Novella are finished, we returned again to JK Place. This is a truly world class establishment, and I struggle to think of anywhere I have been with better service. The staff are, without exception, charming and super efficient. The suites with a view over the square are delightful, being very well equipped...

Weekend break in Florence. Had booked a classic room. Advertised as 25 sqm (250sqf) on hotel's own website and various online travel sites. Shocked how small room was in reality - just not enough space to spend any time in, immediately felt claustrophobic. Curious, used tape measure. Room (#203) was 359cm across and 344cm long. For a total area of...

This is one of my top three hotel experiences. Everything about this hotel is fantastic.....the staff is friendly and overly accommodating...the food is outstanding....and the rooms are beautifully appointed. I stayed in a suite with two full baths and a large living room. Spotless, spacious and cozy. The location was perfect as well, two min walk to train station, short...

This hotel is one of my favorites ever!! We stayed in 2014 and I never wrote a review till now. Gorgeous, huge suites, amazing staff, the best general manager, and the coolest bar. I always recommend this hotel to all my friends and can't wait to stay here again. Also, the best location centrally located in Rome!!!

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Comfort, sophistication, style and value right in the heart of Florence. J.K Place has carved out an exceptionally pleasant niche for itself, a niche that’s just seconds from the door of the stunning church of Santa Maria Novella. All the major sites are within easy walking distance. The rooms: Just twenty of them, snazzy, characterful, no two are alike, and all with signature soft furnishings in creams, granges and neutrals offset with contrasting piping in an effortlessly chic Anouska meets Ralph love-in. The glass covered courtyard and roof terrace beckon on warmer days whilst winter afternoons are best spent huddled by the fireplace in the J.K Lounge with a thick slice of cake and a steaming hot cioccolata con panna. Add very friendly, discreet service plus probably the city’s best Concierge and you are just asking for a good time! ... more   less
