We stayed 2 nights at this lovely old hotel, a few hundred yards from the Duomo. The ladies at the desk when we checked in could not have been nicer. Very proud of the centuries old building and it's history. The rooms are smaller, with very modern granite bathrooms. A small lift, which is very convenient. We had a room...

The room I rented was fairly small, but sufficient and inexpensive. It's 1 block from the Cathedral and about 4 blocks from the Uffizi, so its location is perfect. The hotel common areas and room were aesthetically pleasing and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The room I rented did not have a microwave or refrigerator, which would...

This is a spare, no-frills hotel, but you truly get the feel of living like a local might live in town. We had a large window overlooking the inner patio of the hotel, and we loved hearing the bells of the duomo! Just a few blocks away from the noise, but literally a 3 minute walk to the main piazza...

I've stayed here twice now, and I recommend it to everyone I know going to Florence. The location couldn't be better, you're right in the heart of Florence and near everything you'd want to be close to. I adore the staff, On my second trip just a couple weeks ago, it was the same staff that had been there over...

The best way I would describe this hotel is simple-elegance while having homey feel to it. It was clean, well-kept, well decorated, and the staff made you feel right at home. The location is superb, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Tip: If you stay here, make sure you ask the owner about the history of the building. It's...

Clean well maintained and a real value hotel. Classic compact European hotel room. The bathroom is modern, and the room was very clean and straightforward. Small TV and simple furniture. Beds were firm. We had a view overlooking an alley, and we could hear the start of the day. This hotel is a great hotel to use as a base...

This is a lovely, historic hotel which I believe was a family villa built in the 16th Century with large airy rooms, high ceilings, large windows, white and tan marble. Comfortable bed, nice little breakfast and helpful service. Perfectly located, a 5 minute walk from El Duomo. Everything we wanted to see was within an half hour walk in Florence...

Nice little family run hotel in Florence. Rooms spacious and clean. Staff were helpful and quick to respond to any problems we had. Very central, with most sights in Florence easily accessible from here. Good location in a quieter side street close to the Duomo. Recommend.

Walking into the hotel, I greeted the older gentleman working behind the desk and told him I had a reservation, and he tersely responded, "telling me you have a reservation doesn't mean anything unless you give me your last name!" I then endured fifteen demeaning minutes completing the check-in with him. The next morning, I responded to Expedia's questionnaire about...

Dear Guest, you asked Expedia to cancel your reservation before the arrival. As your rate was not refundable you couldn't cancel the reservation. Maybe this is the reason why you have been very upset since the first moment you stepped in the hotel. We are very sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us but I think we coudn't...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
