I stayed at this hotel for three nights. Let me go over the CONS first: Steep set of stairs to bring you from Street to Front Desk First Level. No apparent option to have hotel help with luggage. An elevator from First level on is small, but functional. The Wi-Fi is very erratic, is does not works well in the...

Location was the best , very near Florence central station (SM Novella) About 300 mtrs and 50 mtrs to Piazza SM Novela. Located in city centre where sightseing location (all) was within walk distance. Very small hotel, also the room. But the staff was very helpful and kind. The room are minimalis,, without kettle and refrigerator. Air conditioning also not...

Stayed here for 3 nights in August 2015. Great location and really friendly staff. Staff were always ready to help whether it be recommending restaurants (we are vegetarian) or checking our rental car booking was all ok. all in all great experience

Great location that is only 5 minutes from the train station, which works great for those who are backpacking. The price was reasonable, and room comfortable. We were in Florence during July and it was very hot, but their AC worked great. The breakfast was quite nice. Only complaint, and it was echoed by other guests, was the internet was...

Good things first: great location. Walking distance to duomo, train station, lorenzo or the leather goods market. Staff good in english. That is worth a 4 star. Breakfast is average, but ok. Others are just annoyingly run down. Lift is extremely slow and hot. Aircon makes more noise than cooling the place. We had to ask for a spare fan...

Hotel Nizza has a great staff who are very helpful. It's located between the train station and the Doumo--or center of historic area. Rooms are clean, air conditioning works well, and bathrooms are quite adequate. There is an elevator but I'd recommend it for luggage only as it is SLOW and very warm when we were there. Breakfast was very...

I visited in September 2013 (not 2014) when the UCI World Road Cycle Championships were held in Florence so we got less rooms than initially booked for our travel party so a tight squeeze but fantastically Italian, that classic style. The location was fantastic we were within walking distance of everything that we needed. Again a budget hotel but nice...

Excellent location 2minutes from both the train station and Il Duomo, wonderful friendly and helpful staff, decent breakfast to set you up for the day, comfortable, quiet rooms and all in a nice old, but well kept building.

very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly. rooms were good. We stayed there with a group of American students, and I heard no complaints. As usual, in Italy they don't believe in air-conditioning like we do in America. We are convinced that the ac's are just "dummy-boxes" that make the sound of an ac and do no real work...

My friend and I spent 3 nights in this hotel, the room was small but clean and there was hardly any noise although there was a very busy street just a stone throw away. The Air Con was working, the staff was very friendly and helpful apart from a tired looking lady receptionist who warmed up to us a bit...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
