If you are looking for a basic, clean place to stay in Florence that doesn't cost a lot then Franco's place is for you. It is very close to the Duomo, in the heart of Florence....within easy walking distance to all of Florence. The bad part is the stairs--they are steep and its difficult to get your luggage up them....

We stayed at the B&B Novecento for two nights. Franco was extremely helpful, responding to our enquiry emails quickly ,and giving us lots of advice and help with choosing which places to visit. The room was large, clean and pleasant, the roof terrace gave a brilliant view over the rooftops to the duomo, and the location was excellent with all...

We stayed here in early September for two nights. The proprietors of the B&B, Franco and Sawako, are very friendly, cheerful, helpful, and enthusiastic. The location is ideal – just a block from the Duomo and near the middle of everything. The bedroom is very clean, comfortable, quaintly decorated. It’s air-conditioned, which is a blessing in summer. There’s a roof...

Hotel was in excellent location..behind Duomo. Marco is super friendly. And they give such a personal touch with everything. They were there to order our cab and really accomodate to us personally. The rooms are very nice, it's cozy and well decorated. They keep the place clean and comfortable for travelers like us and that's the reason for the rules....

The charming B&B Novecento is ideally located, only a block from the Duomo. It's on the 4th floor of a renovated 160-year-old building. This would not be suitable for anyone with lots of luggage since you must climb a rather steep 60-step staircase; however, if you ask, the friendly and energetic host, Franco, will help you with your suitcases. Fortunately...

This was one of the worst places we have stayed in! We nicknamed this B&B as "Bootcamp B&B" due to the number of rules we were presented with on arriving - including a laminated bill for toliet repairs if you break the toilet and instructions not to touch the mosquito net above the bed. The latter was ironic as we...

We really enjoyed Franco & Sawako. They try really hard to have quality accommodations, although the bathroom is difficult to deal with (as described by other travelers previously). And the stairs are daunting, but we found this to be the case throughout our 4-city stay in Italy (only one B&B had a lift). The breakfast was great by Italian standards,...

B & B Novecentro is in a great location, we walked over from the train station, and Franco greeted us and carried our bags up the stairs, sowed us around, gave us an overview of things to do and see and made appointments for us at the Acadamia and Uffuzi. We felt like family. The rooms are very well done...

Our family spent a delightful week in Florence just before Christmas. Our home away from home was the Novecento B & B. Hosts Franco Presta and Sawako Yamano were wonderful. They host breakfast in a cozy room. Franco makes the capuccino himself. The rooms are quiet and spotless. The B & B is in an excellent location about one block...

Novecento Bed & Breakfast was a great place for us to spend our honeymoon. Not only were our hosts kind, helpful, and with a great sense of humor, they also served up a great breakfast and were quick to help recommend restaurants or offer other travel info. Staying less than a block from the Duomo was a real treat. The...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
