We loved this little hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and concerned about all our comments. Modest but excellent appointments throughout. A balky drain was tended to immediately. Big plus: blankets rather than comforters (personal bete noir in upscale hotels). Delightful cocktail party each evening. Great breakfast. Best of all, the location is wonderful.

Upon my arrival I was initially surprised to see the entrance was an austere stairway up one flight with the name of the hotel posted on the archway above. I had a heavy bag to carry up and rang the bell at the bottom of the stairs for help. Fabrizio happened to be downstairs and across the street. He came...

Trip Advisor did not fail us. We stayed here based on all the positive reviews, and they were right - this place is great! The owners of this hotel make you feel so welcome from the moment you check in. The hotel is in a great location - near everything - restaurants, shops and sights! It is about a 10...

Hotel Davanzati did not disappoint us one bit! It deserves its #1 spot on TripAdvisor. This hotel rates Excellent for me, a frequent traveler, because its all-around comfort, convenience, and the sincere hospitality of its owners, make it feel like home away from home. I have read the other reviews that voice complaints, but disagree. If one wants 5 star...

We stayed at the Hotel Davanzati for four nights in early September 2007, largely due to the reviews on Trip Advisor. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time. The hotel is lovely and in a fabulous location, in the pedestrian area. There is a laptop with free Internet access and a DVD player in each room. The breakfasts were...

I spent 4 nights at the Hotel Davanzati in September and enjoyed my stay tremendously. Fabrizio and Tomasso were extremely helpful both before and during my stay, booking museum, tour and great restaurant reservations and providing directions to sites. It's clear that they love their city and want to make sure that their guests have wonderful experiences in the city...

I stayed at the Hotel Davanzati for a three-day stay in Florence based in LARGE measure on the rave reviews on this website, and after my stay I have to admit that I feel like I have missed something -- the staff truly is accomodating, but the accomodations themselves are mediocre at best, very uncomfortable beds, thin interior and exterior...

We are 2 40 something female friends. We booked the Davanzati because (1) we wanted to visit Italy again after a fab trip to Venice (2) because the hotel was no 1 hotel in Italy in Tripadvisor. Due to our timings we had to book a superior room rather than a standard. We got the train from Pisa airport rather...

I booked this small hotel in the heart of Florence based on the reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor. This hotel exceeded my expectations. I am reluctant to let others know about this gem of a hotel, a secret to keep for myself, but this family-run hotel deserves a great review. I traveled in Italy for two weeks staying a several...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
