It was a pleasure to stay at the Villa Tolomei Hotel & Resort. We stayed two nights. Everything was perfect. The reception was lovely, the room was big, clean and the beds like heaven. We had dinner both nights and it was very nice, service and food. Breakfast was great, everything you could wish for, service excellent. We sat by the pool and the service there was the best, I can’t remember his name but he was from Philippine, so professional. All in all, we had a great weekend.

My family and I did not have a good experience at this hotel. Where to begin… There is no childrens menu and the pool bar has a very limited menu. We ordered 1 pasta which took over 45 mins to arrive. Not great if you have hungry kids. They then added a cover charge for 3 people for 1 pasta. Pool bar opened at 11:30 each day (late some days) but we were told the kitchen doesn’t open until 1 for food orders. Why? Again not great for kids if they are hungry. Breakfast was meant to start at 8am but was late to open every day. It was also very basic and the eggs were almost inedible some days. It was clear that this hotel was massively understaffed. Staff couldn’t handle a full hotel and some were very rude. I spoke to the manager about our problems who didn’t seem to be sorry or care. I sent an email with our complaints on our final day and didn’t even get a response. Unfortunately I would not stay at this hotel again. It is certainly not 5 star as it claims to be and I think most would expect a higher level of service for the price.

We had booked a luxury room at this hotel and wanted to enjoy a week in Tuscany not exactly in the middle of the town. The hotel is actually nicely located but to find it was the first challenge, to get to it was the second. You have to pass two way streets where one car is almost too wide for them. After we put the official address, the navigation system took us through the worst of them. We got an email from the hotel with the description in longitude and latitude, but where it had been forgotten to write the letter (N or S, W or E). We were welcomed by a male receptionist quite full of himself, who told us we should have given the navigator Via Ugo Foscolo as the address to arrive in an easier fashion, but this is not at all the address of the hotel. I don’t understand why they don’t explain this to you in the confirmation email instead. After getting to our room, which really is big and spacious, we found that there is no single TV-channel in another language than Italian. When asked, the same receptionist told us we were in Italy! I have visited many hotels in this country, and not supposedly five-stars, which didn’t have any problems in supplying tourists, who do not always speak Italian fluently, with some entertainment in other languages. I always thought hotels were supposed, among others, to serve tourists and foreigners! The other days we had very nice ladies attending the reception. But the day before we left, the male receptionist was again there. I asked for the bill at the end of the afternoon and he looked very astonished saying this would not be possible before nine o’clock in the evening. (Five-star hotel!). This had never happened to me. The breakfast room is really beautifully located with a marvelous view, but the breakfast choice has the level of a good 2-star hotel not more. For the price of the room one could await more. The service is good, but that’s it! It is served from 8 to 10 o’clock in the morning, which is quite a narrow window for such a hotel. On our last day at 8 o’clock, together with other guests we found the doors closed and nothing prepared, it took quite a long time to get things running, so that other guests who had to take a train, couldn’t get their coffee, which is brought to your table. There is no machine where you could help yourself. Also you have to ask separately for cold milk if you wish to eat your cereals with it. In the spacious bathroom there is no magnifying mirror, also to be found in almost every 3-star-average hotel. You could say that what you pay for is the location but certainly not a good service or an offer corresponding to high category hotel. We decided to shorten our stay.

This hotel is fabulous - beautiful rooms, great staff, wonderful views and stunning setting. It would have five stars except - the food in the restaurant was almost inedible. It looked great but tasted awful and the breast of duck was so tough as to be inedible; the risotto had no flavour and I could only eat three fork fulls. For a really special 5 star hotel this is a shame. The pool and the view from it is incredible. As is the view from the restaurant. Look at the views; look at the food - just don't eat it.

We really enjoyed our stay in Villa Tolomei. It is just out of town but gives a very different feeling as you are surrounded by olive trees and chirping birds. I even spotted a roe in the morning! Breakfast is good but not exceptional. Cakes are a nice touch but their taste is mediocre. The room we stayed in was in the main villa. Very spacious and comfortable. Given the price paid we thought it exceeded expectations. Staff is courteous and helpful. Given the location we would highly recommend this hotel! The pool was cold but magnificent places.......

No welcome tour. Even after being their for three nights we probably didn’t see all the features. Room smaller and not to the expectations of five star Poorly placed outlets and inadequate for modern traveler. Each day maids would unplug our outlets Shower ridiculous (see picture below) Spigot in sink so poorly placed -(picture) One morning locked door forced us outside in rain and mud Not close to central Florence, 15 euros each way to town Front desk staff friendly No cooked to order option at breakfast Asked for a wine bottle opener and told there is only one for the entire hotel

When you drive up the alley that leads to the villa you already get the feeling that the holidays here will be quite special. Renaissance-style rooms with frescoes, a stunning view across Florence during breakfast, a pool and a very good gym make this hotel a great pick. Dinner at the restaurant is a highlight, we recommend the bolgheri from the wine list. The hotel is surrounded by a vineyard and olive trees (see photo attached) - we even saw a couple of deers on the estate.

This is not close to a five star hotel. First it is 15euro each way to heart of Florence. Started with no tour. Walls paper thin. Very small shower. Rooms not close to our expectations. Can’t find anything to recommend about hotel. Strange layout have go inside and outside to get to room.

This hotel was obtained through travel zoo. It is deceiving that it shows on pictures close to the area where all the Cathedrals and museums are located. It is up on a hill not close to anything. One morning we walked 50 minutes but typically we took a taxi. On the morning we walked, we were not told by the front desk that taxi's were on strike that particular day. ( Later she apologized) We spent 45 minutes in the evening trying to locate a taxi. We finally called the hotel and they found a private service that cost $50.00. We expressed our disappointment, but the hotel never offered to pay any of that bill. We actually drove there and could have easily driven that day had we been told the information. The breakfast, which was included was very good. The room fairly nice too but honestly, the place is a bit run down. If the location was closer it might get more attention. But, we were overall disappointed with our stay, especially for the $250.00 per night.
