It's a 4 minute walk to the train station. We felt completely safe walking around at any time of day or night. Santa Maria Novella is a 3 min walk, lots of places nearby to eat and plenty of nearby places to shop. The hotel itself it's an older building I mean it's Italy that should be expected. Finding our... More

Friendly staff, comfortable clean room and shower room, great location just round the corner from train station and 5 minutes walk to all Florence attractions. Good price too. Enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.

Simple+ good hotel. The rooms are slightly smaller than other hotels. I believe I paid only 55-60 euros/night for this hotel in september. The restaurant next door is fantastic! Also the location of this hotel is great nearby the main train station.

I found this hotel through Trip Advisor recommendations but I was not impressed. Hotel is old, stained carpets, smells and please take note not real beds! They are literally army cots!! Like sleeping on a bed of nails. However on a good note, staff is very helpful, reception great and location is in the Santa Maria Novella so close to... More

Due to a health emergency, we had to leave earlier from Florence. The hotel refunded us the money from the rest of the reservation in spite of having reserved a room with no reimbursement at all! They did not even accept looking for the medical proves (as I wanted them to see we were telling the truth!). They believed the... More

Stayed at the Montreal for one night before catching train to Sorrento the next day. The hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from the SMN station which is ideal. The hotel itself was very clean, the staff very helpful. Our room was a decent size with a small balcony - absolutely perfect. The shower room was spotless. I... More

Receptionists were super friendly and willing to help us in all questions we had. Corridors were really narrow and whole hotel were little bit like a labyrinth. Room with a balcony was clean and quite ok. Nothing special in this small hotel.

We've been to Florence few times and we always try different hotels based the nearest to S.M.N because is easier to travel with the train. The location of this hotel is less then 3mins walking. Lots of restaurant around and easy access to every where in Florence. Ponte Vecchio is less then 15mins walking and St.Lorenzo market is just around... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
