We stayed there for three nights in March. We had an upgraded room which was right next to the lift which was a disappointment as the hotel wasn't full. There was a view of the main road and no terrace as we had expected the upgrade to have. Breakfast was okay but the same every day, three days was enough....

We have just come back from a weekend in Florence staying at the Hotel Embassy and i have to say the Hotel was great, its location was good as its just by the main bus and train station so yuo don't have to take a taxi or drag your luggage too far. It was a little noisy in the rooms...

My wife and I stayed three nights (7-10 March 2013) at a cost of just over £81 per night for a double room and breakfast as part of a Groupon deal. The hotel is conveniently close to Santa Maria Novella station, which is where the bus from Pisa airport deposited us. We were in room 104, which is on the...

3 nights at The Embassy Hotel in Florence greatly added to our holiday experience. The most helpful reception staff (2 great restaurant recommendations), 2 large, extremely clean rooms with one of the best showers I've ever used. Yes, there was a quite busy road outside but the double glazing was excellent and it certainly didn't effect my sleep. Certainly we...

Just returned from a long weekend in Florence staying at the Hotel Embassy and am absolutely amazed at some of the favourable reviews on here. First, it is a three star hotel at best by UK standards. Whilst the location close to the station is useful for arrival and departure, it is in an ugly wind blown street with tram...

The hotel is just a stone throw away from the railway station which makes it quite convenient. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights... The front desk was not too friendly missing a welcome smile.....The room that we stayed was too small even for European standards.. The beds were fine but nothing exciting about the decor or the other...

I highly recommend this hotel for value, location, cleanliness, comfort & the friendliness of the staff. The rooms are large & nicely decorated, the bed is huge & very comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast which has plenty of choice & the dining room is pleasantly decorated & very comfortable. Now for the practical bit, the Hotel is a 5...

I can honestly say that this hotel is a gem within the city of Florence. We stayed here between 29th Jan and 2nd Feb and the hotel was quite empty due to the low season. However the staff were very nice and helpful especially the waitress at Breakfast who was very nice to us and very friendly. A gem within...

We stayed here in April 2012. The transfer from the airport dropped us off at the main station in Florence. This hotel is literally less than a 5 min walk away and is really easy to find once you gather your bearings. We requested a modern minimalistic room (part of a new renovation) so were glad that our request was...

We stayed for 3 nights in December following one night in Pisa. It's so easy to find even with a suitcase in tow. We just followed the tram lines out of the train station and found it within 5 minutes which made it pretty stress free and a cheap transfer! Trains are so cheap in Italy, it cost us 11...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
