Staff was helpful and kind and the room was clean. However, the space has terrible sound proofing - the trains nearby are really loud and you can hear everyone in the building. Bed was not very comfortable and the shower was super small, though it did have a good supply of hot water. Definitely not worth the cost and the...

The hotel is quite close to the city center. You can reach the city center in 20 minutes by foot or 10 minutes by bus. We stayed in room number 3. It was always smelling like cigarettes although it was a non-smoking room. It is not a quiet place because the trains pass nearby and you can always hear them....

We stayed a night in the Abatjour by friend's recommendation and absolutely loved it. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated, clean, stylish and comfortable. Paulo is a fab host, very helpful, top class plus a great smile and style. We will be staying there again for sure. Thanks a lot Paulo! Thanks a lot Abatjour! See you soon :) Sasha...

What can I say - Paolo the owner is a very generous and informative man who will do his very best to make your staff in Florence welcome. My family and I stayed at the hotel for four days in total and even went to lengths to accommodate our changes in holiday itinerary with extreme ease. The service was above...

The owner Paolo is very kind and helpful while the check-in. The location is very close to the city center but you hear continiously trains up your head. There are no restaurants in the neighborhood, only one chinese. I didn't appreciate the deco, it's very old! The coffee machine works only after 8am, if you have to go out before...

The person who checked us in (who I think was the owner) was superb, especially with giving local information and directions. The room was very spacious but was a little bit rough round the edges, particularly the shower cubicle/tray. The breakfast was basic but good. The location is okay, just within walking distance to the centre and the main train...

Great B&B in Florence. We appreciated the kindness of the staff. They helped us to find good restaurants and to reserve our visit to museum. Our triple bedroom was very big and comfortable and we liked the decoration (walls with trompe l’oeil). Breakfast in the room was useful. We moved to the main attractions by bus (10 minutes) or by...

I choosed this b&B in Florence because the B&B where I usually stay when I’m there was fully booked. Great solution! The staff and the owner Paolo were very kind and the room was nice, well decorated and comfortable. I appreciated the service of bike renting. I used one bicycle for two days to enjoy the city. Also the breakfast...

This is based purely on the room we were allocated at the B&B, because we did not see any of the other rooms. We had originally booked to stay at a different B&B, however we were placed here several weeks before our arrival. No explanation given as to why. We arrived after catching a very early train from Rome. The...

We had a horrible, HORRIBLE stay here!!! First, we paid £97 for a triple room, but they gave us a double and wouldn't change the price or our room. Furthermore, the receptionist said we hadn't paid one of the nights and owed her money and was going to force us to pay another £97. We talked to the owner who...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
