A family of 3 persons participated in WUKF Europe championship down the road and it was perfect location. Hotel is good, staff pleasant and helpful. Only item is that elevators are old and quite slow.
Okay, so first, this is NOT in the central part of Florence. If you want to be in the midst of that, this hotel may not be for you. Also, this has the feel of an American hotel - so if that is not what you want, again, you might want to look elsewhere. Note: I am Diamond Hilton and have been critical of properties when warranted. But, this property has some great things going for it. First, we found the staff FANTASTIC in every way. This hotel is a bit older - but appears to be in great repair and is VERY Clean. You know how in some older hotels they just look a bit shabby - this is NOT the case in the property. It is aging, but aging pretty well I think. Transportation. A cab from the train station is about 20 minutes and about 22 Euros. But they have a great shuttle running pretty continuously from 10 am every day that drops and picks up right across the street from the train station (so very much central Florence). Breakfast. The breakfast is a buffet that would be better than average for American Standards. Rooms (we had 2 - one for my wife and I and one for our teenagers): Rooms were clean and quiet.…
You ever had one of those days when you can't wait to just kick back, relax and lay your head on a pillow. Sometimes it ALL starts with a smile and a great check-in. Sylvia at check-in did just that. She made us feel welcomed and at home. Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference. Great job Sylvia and thank you for your professionalism and kindness!!! -AM
We chose this hotel because it was marginally closer to Florence airport, and our flight left the next day at 6:00am. While it has all the conveniences of a Hilton property, which is usually a big plus for us, this hotel has absolutely no appeal for the casual tourist. It is far from the city center, and its ambiance is utterly removed from the magic that is Florence. It is a business hotel, pure and simple. While it offers a shuttle to the city "center," that turned out to be a parking lot far behind the railway station, about a 15-minute walk from the main station square, through a very loud traffic tunnel and through an area behind the station that made us feel unsafe. Unless you have business here attending a conference, this is not recommended for a tourist visit.
I used to work for Hilton, so I have also stayed in a few. This is probably the worst Hilton I have ever been, but it is not a bad hotel. The rooms could use an update, especially our tubs (had 2 rooms) were not the nicest. More of a personal preference: as Germans, we did not like the american taps, where you always have to turn both knobs. But on the positive side: very kind staff! Also, because the hotel is not very central, there is a shuttle bus, going to the main train station, which is 1,50€ per person/trip.
The Hilton Metropole is a decent hotel, with nice rooms and a nice breakfast. Staff were very helpful and profeesional. The main problem we had with this hotel was its location as we came from overseas, did not have a car and wanted to visit the city centre a lot. Just be warned that it is a fair way from the city centre and there is no servicable public transport close by. You need to either catch a taxi which is about 20 euro each way, or use the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus departure times in either direction are limited however and sometimes can be booked out. The earliest time is 10am and there is a big gap of time in the middle of the day where there is no shuttle bus. The driver is lovely though and helps where he can. I just thought i'd let people know this information as it is a little hard to tell from the website. If I get to go back I would book earlier and find accomodation in the old town.…
We were flying out early from FLR and stayed the last night of our trip. Very close to the airport. The hotel ordered our taxi the night before. There was a nice bar/restaurant, although service was slow. The room was nicely appointed, clean and quiet. Highly recommend this hotel.
Wonderful hotel … lovely breakfast and dinner. Amazing staff who helped us with our df and gf food allergies. We had lovely views from our hotel room … lots of support from the receptionist for getting our taxis etc!
Really lovely hotel with clean, spacious rooms with available parking on site. Simple but complete Workout Gym. A good breakfast selection & restaurant on site. Close enough to the city with a Shuttle Bus Service that’s well worth it to save on city parking.
First of all I was disappointed that hey would brand this hotel as a Hilton. My expectations for Hilton branded properties is based on what I've seen in the US and being a Diamond member I've stayed at a large number of them over the years. I would compare this hotel to a maybe 3 star hotel in the US. Lobby and common areas look great. Rooms are okay, however, fairly dated, temp control is an issue but front desk has the ability to adjust by +/- 3 degrees. We had 2 rooms and both came only with 1 towel for 4 people. This was annoying and we had to ask multiple times. Front desk staff was much nicer than the rest. Bar staff especially lived up to the rude Italian theme we experienced during our trip. Be ware, this hotel is located quite far from all the action. I'd recommend spending a few extra bucks and finding a place closer in if you're a tourist. The costs / time spent commuting isn't worth it.…
