The hotel apartments were very spacious and well appointed. The location, although close (a few blocks) to the main area by the Duomo, is more of a residential feel. I wasn't sure how that would compare to staying at a hotel near the river. I found I would have preferred being in a traditional hotel for the vibe and amenities.... More

Dear Guest, I thank you for your kind review. I can confirm that we're not on the river, but we never advertised to be on the river.... The feel you had is exactly what we would like our Guests to feel: we offer fully equipped Suites with a hotel service so that our Guests can feel at home, but with... More

Residence Hilda provided us with a large apartment, very well appointed and very convenient for the main sights of Florence, a beautiful city. The kitchenette was very useful and the staff were helpful and informative. I'd have liked the air con to be a bit more effective, but maybe it is in summer. I wouldn't advise taking up RH's linked... More

My brother and sister-in-law are frequent visitors to Florence and they recommended we stay at Residence Hilda. We absolutely loved staying at RH. The staff is so warm and friendly and the room is more like a small apartment than a typical hotel room. The location is great and withing close walking distance to all the main sites. We can't... Hotel Hilde is a delightful find. It is just a few blocks from the Duomo and central to everything visitors want to see in Florence . The owners are very kind and helpful. We enjoyed our suite with kitchen and view of the plaza. Everything is pleasant, calm and immaculately maintained. Thank you for a lovely visit everything was just... More

All accommodaion in Florence is expensive, and this is no exception. But it's a great location, central yet quiet, it's really good quality accommodation, and nicely furnished in a contemporary style. Only disappointment for us was no coffee maker - other than one of those grotty ones you boild on the hob, or some sachets of Nescafe.

Dear Guest, I thank you for your nice review and hope to have you back with us. You came during the peak season and rates were (and still are) high due to the high demand. We are usually considered not so expensive for what we offer (Suites from 50 sq.m. large with all the services of a 4 stars hotel... More

We walked from the station to RH. Arrived and life just got better. A introduction to Florence with notes on a map. Then onto a delightful suite with a great shower. After Rome an absolute delight. TV with English channels. WOW. Pillow to hard and I went to reception and got a feather down one and life got even better.... More

It's a perfect place for Florence that gives you more independence. It's a beautifully contemporary, generous space and really friendly people. Lots of great restaurants nearby, and of course the duomo. Would def go back.

This is a converted apartment as opposed to a full-service hotel. Nevertheless, the staff catered to our every request and gave accurate information to all our inquiries. The comfort and convenience are unsurpassed. Laundromat and groceries are but steps from the door. You can't go wrong here.

Really nice apartment in the perfect location. You are just minutes away from the duomo. Easy access to the key sites, yet a quiet street. The apartment itself was top quality with great furnishings. Everything was in great condition.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
