Staying at Franz House with Giovanni was a great break from hostels for my boyfriend and I. The location was great, being it was close to everything we wanted to see and explore around. It was close to the Termini (about 5-10 minute walk) and there was a bus stop right outside our door.Upon our arrival Giovanni sat with us...

We stayed here from May 14-17 and found our stay quite enjoyable. The rooms were large, clean had a table and were located near all the main attractions. The host was kind enough to print some tickets for us. Only thing is that it can get loud at night if you leave the window open from all the cars and...

The most important thing to note about this hotel is that you absolutely must check in either during the listed times or at the time you list on your booking. We got it for a steal because of the off-season, and the room was very nice and we could see the Arno from our window. It's not especially close to...

Perfect location for those wanting to tour the city by foot, within walking distance from train station and a lot of good sightseeing spots. Saff was very accommodating and helpful, gave us a map and outlined what good places there were to see. I would recommend to anyone who is planing on going to Florence.

My partner and I stayed here for 10 days in June, we had originally booked for 7 however decided to extend our stay, this wasn't a problem an staff were very helpful and accomadating in sorting this for us, they kept us in the same room and added no extra service charge. I recommend this for couples in their 20s...

This little hotel was nothing amazing in terms of decor, but everything else was fantastic. The people were kind, holding my luggage before check-in so I could explore and providing me with a multicourse breakfast. The room spartan but the window overlooking the street was FABULOUS! If you are a light sleeper I don't recommend it, but as a solo...

My boyfriend and I booked this for a couple nights, and during the booking process we said we'd arrive at 11:59pm (it's on the receipt, we knew we had a late flight in). However, when we arrived around 11:45pm, we rang the doorbell, and no one responded. We rang the doorbell and called the phones for 30 min before leaving...

I spent two nights in the Franz and wish I could've stayed longer. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the place is well-located near the river in Florence, not far from the train station. The staff are really friendly (we arrived after the limit for check-in, and the guy, whose name I can't remember, came from where he lives...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
