Stayed at this hotel while in Florence to run the marathon on 27 November. The location was very convenient - close to the T2 tram terminus. A very warm and friendly welcome. The accommodation was simple, clean and comfortable. Just what you need for a brief city stay. Personally, I believe a hotel room is somewhere you go to sleep at the end of the day - and that is what you get at Hotel Angelica. No frills - but what do you need those for? If you want multi-language TV, bathrobes, a full American buffet breakfast and a business centre, book in at the Westin instead! I was very comfortable, and the Hotel Angelica provided everything I needed. Thanks to all the staff.
AVOID THIS DUMP LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!! After a horrible experience with this hovel that's supposed to be a hotel, I ran out like a banshee (and losing some hard-earned cash in the process) from this Bates Motel of Florence [Norman would have been a better host] to quality hotel accommodations. Owner was firm of non-negotiable refund - my loss, but lesson learnt. So, lesson taken from this HUGE MISTAKE: 1. NEVER book through known online third-party booking sites, especially booking dot com 2. NEVER book on the cheap 3. Book familiar chain hotels (eg Hilton, Marriot, etc.) or reputable "boutique" hotels - even if they're a bit more expensive 4. Book DIRECTLY with the hotel 5. Select "refundable" rates (even if it's a few quid/bucks more) 6. Remember always: You get what you pay for. I had to swallow a bitter pill with a loss of money, but there was no way in h*ll I would stay in this filthy, hot, no-window (ok a ceiling window - but if it rains?), reeking of cheap cleaning products, uncomfortable with a sleazy bs owner, no support from bs booking dot com, hostel-like dump posing as a "hotel". No communication at all between me via booking dot com nor hotel management. And don't believe what the cheap website states.…
I wasn't feeling to well, and the owner Angelica made me tea with fresh lemons from her tree, she cared for me like her own child, I felt like a part of her family. The hotel was nice, comfortable, clean and the location was A+. I plan on visiting Italy next year and we will definitely stop in to greet Angelica. My travel date was a few years ago, but the date option wasn't a choice.. (Sandra)
Words cannot describe the experience we had here. We had gotten here pretty late and just made it in time for dinner after checking in. Everything was fine at this point. We got back to the room and we rinsed off some clothes in the sink (Socks, underwear, etc) as we are backpacking and have limited clothing. Then we went to shower and within seconds the floor filled up with dirt, brown water, and hair. After jumping out we called the emergency line to have it fixed, no answer. I searched around for the front desk receptionist and eventually the front desk receptionist came down from his room as he saw me on the camera. He tried plunging it for 15 or so minutes and couldn’t get it fixed. He said we wouldn’t be able to shower tonight and would have to wait for the morning so I immediately asked for some sort of compensation back as we had no shower or bathroom at this point because the floor of the bathroom was covered in this dirty water. He said I would have to speak to the manager in the morning. We planned on using wash cloths to at least clean our bodies to the best we can in the lobby bathroom sink as we were sweaty and dirty from the flight in. We called the number again for more wash cloths, no answer. So I went to closet where I saw he had them and got some more but he must have saw me again on the cameras and ripped the towels out of my hand and started yelling at me in Italian. The only words I got were “are you f****** stupid” after consistently trying to explain what we were trying to do I took him down to the bathroom and showed him and gestured at what we were trying to do. He then continued again to insult me and yell. Eventually he calmed down and grabbed me some towels and said “you will pay for this”. We cleaned off and went to bed for maybe 2-3 hours. Then came banging on the door. We came out and they told us we need to leave and that we had to pay $300 to fix the shower and then we would get a refund (we only paid $150 for the room). The only thing we had touched was the sink which still worked perfectly fine and the plumber that had come even insisted that we did not cause the damage. After arguing back and forth with the “manager” we left as they were calling the cops. If you are planning a stay here and read this review please reconsider and DO NOT STAY HERE.…
I was in Florence for work and booked in Hotel Angelica being a last moment booking I didn't know what to find but all I can say is Fantastic very clean only 1 minute walk from the station room and bed very comfortable and the breakfast was great full of variety. The owner Mrs Angelica is an adorable women helped so much in finding a car hire and she also let me leave my heavy luggage until evening. Everything was perfect much berrer than the 4 star hotels I normally stayed in.
Staff great, location excellent and really close to the train station. My only criticism was that the room and the bed were tiny. We are not big people but you would struggle to comfortably fit two big people in the ‘double’ bed. I would stay again but I would choose a bigger room.
I can highly recommend this hotel. It is near to the train and tram stations. The owners are kind and helpful. The rooms are spotless. Everything is well maintained. The breakfast is a bargain at 6 Euros. All the sights are within walking distance. Despite being so central it is very quiet. You will enjoy your stay here.
Hotel Angelica is a wonderful stay. When me and my partner booked it we didn't expect much from a budget hotel, However, Angelica and her husband are lovely and welcoming to all guests. We had the terrace room (so named because of the amazing views you get from the roof top terrace) it was like having our own little appartment. The location was perfect as we were traveling by train and it's very close to both the trains and the Duomo (cathedral). Overall it's a very impressive stay.
Hotel Angelica in Florence was just ok. It’s fine for someone who is hardly going to be in his/her room. It’s a small hotel. The staff was nice. The plumbing in my bathroom needed some unclogging. The bed in my room was kind of hard and lumpy. I slept fine though. It’s walking distance from the Duomo and Uffici Degli Gallerie and the Marchetti Centrali (for inexpensive souvenirs).
I have booked a cancellable and not prepayed room in Angelica on Hotels. Com. Subsequently I have cancelled the booking during the same day and well within the free cancellation period. After the cancellation the hotel charged my credit card with the entire amount of money. I have written to the hotel customer service and explained the situation. Their responce was that indeed they charged me for absolutely no reason but they are unable to refund me and suggested that I addressed my credit card company instead (which I did). Horrible customer service indeed.
