We stayed at Palazzo Alfani for two nights in November. It was perfect for us! We got a great deal since we were visiting off season. The location was superb being just across the street from Accademia and a short walk to the Duomo. The apartments had a true Italian feel to them complete with high ceilings and some antiques....

This truly was a wonderful place to stay. The king bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in. Apparently, it was custom made! We rented the apartment facing the courtyard and it was very quiet. The location across the Academia was so convenient to everything. Last but not least, the hostess Francesca was very helpful and charming....

Rather than staying in a hotel, we wanted a place where 5 of us could stay together. After reading the reviews, we chose Palazzo Alfani. The location was perfect. Within minutes of walking, we could visit most of historic Florence. Although this was a private building versus a hotel, it was easy to make a reservation and ask any questions...

We have just returned from the best vacation we have ever experienced in Italy and I believe a lot of our enjoyment derived from our staying in this lovely Palazzo. Our apartment, and Francesca, were the best apartment stay we have ever had and if I could say every other apartment experience was as good as this, we would never...

We went to Florence on our honeymoon and stayed three nights. We could not have asked for a better experience. The room was huge in comparison to others and the service was second to none. It is location is very central and we were within an easy walking distance to everywhere. Francesca, the attedant, was very nice and did everything...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. There are so many bonuses this place has to offer... First the owner is extremely polite and helpful! Her recommended dining places were right on. I will say one of the places, La Accademia, which is just around the corner served up the best pasta I had in all of Italy....

We stayed here back in August, and I thought I'd posted a review, but it does not appear, which is why this is first appearing now. We spent three fabulous nights at the Palazzo Alfani, and would be hard-pressed to recommend it more highly. The location is excellent - literally opposite the Accadmia, around the corner from Piazza San Marco...

Location, cleanliness, beautiful, friendly. This may be the best value I've ever experienced in a hotel. Basically, you are renting a luxury, fully appointed flat in a 16th century Italian residence, with a delightful and knowledgeable concierge, directly (and I mean directly) across the street from the Academia museum. The flat was large and airy w full kitchen, marble bath...

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole.
