We weren’t quite sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews but I’m happy to report we had a very pleasant stay just a few days ago. The location is primo, just down the street from the Duomo and everything we wanted to see is no more than a 15 minute walk away. The elevator is slow and small but does the job. The check-in is located on the 3rd floor and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. Based on other reviews we requested a quiet room and received room 118 which was very quiet, clean and comfy. The room had high ceilings and a large double window that opened onto the outdoor garden area which no one else seemed to use so we essentially had a room with a private garden! The shower was strong, bathroom was fully stocked with soap, shampoo, clean towels and hairdryer. Just know that this is a quirky, homey atmosphere hotel with unique decor and winding hallways but it’s nice to stay somewhere different rather than a cookie-cutter hotel chain. Overall it was a very pleasant stay based on our experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!

This was such a disappointing stay. The positives were that check in was straight forward..The hotel is in an excellent location for most of the main historic sites and for the shops. WiFi was good. The bed was really comfortable. The negatives! The noise from the street cancelled the comfortable bed out. We stayed on the first floor and there was no aircon so my partner and I found that we rotated between one of us waking up and opening the windows because the room was to warm and the other then waking to close the window because it sounded like there was a bin wagon parked outside the window all night. It was impossible to sleep. The noise from the street was unbearable. We travelled with friends who stayed in the first floor who also had no aircon but they had an inner garden room so we’re able to sleep better. The toilet flush broke on the second morning however it was repaired promptly. There were literally none of the basics you would expect find in a room. I would expect at a bare minimum some shower gel and some teas and coffees. There was nothing except a jar of water left in the room. There was an honesty pig in a fridge near reception where you could leave some money and get some cool drinks. We bought some beers which turned out to be alcohol free 😂. The breakfast was so disappointing and limited. I think breakfast is served 7-10. We arrived the first day at 9:15 and the second at 8:15 and there was barely any food there! The staff were so slow to replace even the basics such as toast for bread, scrambled eggs. It mainly consisted of cereals, cheese, croissants and boiled eggs. We even had to ask for cups and cutlery. We were so looking forward to staying here because of the previous positive reviews. We will revisit Florence and stay in this area however we won’t stay at this hotel again.

Room was nice but not impressed with the service. We turned up to check in and there was just an overall sense of disorganisation with everyone. They then told us there was a mix up with our booking (I was so panicked I was just relieved when they told us they had booked us into another hotel down the street. Hop onto Hotel Villani for a fantastic review of the views there. But back to Maxim Axial. They had sent us to a 2-star hotel when we had paid for a 3. They said they had upgraded us to a triple comfort room at Maxim for the next night. It was very inconvenient as we had to check out Villani and into Maxim the next day with our bags. The triple comfort room it’s much better and what you would expect for 3 stars. However be prepared for noise at this hotel there was club music till 1am, and then glass bins being emptied after that. Then the bin truck at 7am so it’s noisy but forgivable in an old building. No noise over at Hotel Villani though… In summary, upgrade to a third comfort room. Be prepared as well for the disorganisation at reception. If you are staring here though ask if you get access to the Hotel Villani rooftop terrace. It’s beautiful views and they are sister hotels but they don’t advertise it.

I would not stay here ever again. Only positive is the location. There are many other hotels in the same area and seem to be much nicer. Hotel is dirty, no water in coolers to purchase, fridge in room broken, bathroom smelled of sewage, didn’t replace toilet paper on daily cleaning (stayed 5 nights) so we had to go up two floors to reception to get toilet paper at 10pm after getting back from dinner. Air worked in our childrens room but not our room. Window to garden would not shut all the way so anyone could come in and the safe did not work in the room. Over all not a pleasant experience.

The best aspect of this hotel is its excellent location. This hotel is on the third floor of a building and has an elevator. The reception is ugly, with a lot of old-fashioned furniture. Rooms are very comfortable and a good size. There are some items that improve your comfort such as: chair, tables, cupboards, extra pillows... The staff is very kind and helpful and the breakfast is good. We will stay there again.

Great location! It was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning worked, bathroom was clean, although not modern we liked the style. Front desk are very helpful and friendly. Only downside is our room (301) backed onto an alleyway and there was a lot of noise each night. Definitely recommend earplugs.

As highlighted by most people the Hotel is in the perfect location - a couple of minutes walk from the Duomo right in the middle of the city, 15 to 20 min stroll from the railway station. The hotel is on the 3rd / 4th floor of a block and as such has an entry corridor and lift at ground level, the lift takes you to reception on the 3rd floor. The staff were lovley - very helful and friendly. Check in was efficient and quick. The room, for the money was ok. A bit dated I suppose - few minor niggles like the hot water tap didnt work and the bracket holding the shower head was bust - but these are minor niggles and the important things were fine - comfy bed - everything was clean - wifi worked brilliantly - nice TV - etc etc Breakfast was fine - fairly standard continental standard - no dramas at all. The thing we absolutley loved was the building.... solid old block in the middle of the city - the stairs wan walls had a feeling of permanence - the stairs felt like they could tell a million stories -

The hotel is incredible, very well located and optimal service, only critic might be the breakfast which was not very well suited, but this is a minor detail considering all the possibility to have it nearby.

What I loved most about the hotel was the location. It's close to the Duomo and an easy walk to so many parts of Florence. The day-time front desk staff was super friendly as well. The only thing I would caution for some people is that the walls are a little thin so you can hear crying babies. It's didn't other me because I sleep soundly but you will hear neighbors if they're loud. It's also set up like a maze but that just mean I got more steps in. Everything was very nice otherwise. It's up a few floors as well but it has an elevator for those who need to get their luggage up.

It is a nice hotel at the center of Florence. Strategically located near to tourist attractions. Staff is accommodating and helpful especially when I try to book for a taxi on a very early morning trip. Room is quite large, but you have to pay a bit extra if you want to use the newer rooms but it was worth it.
