We returned to Alla Dimora Altea after staying here 3 years ago. It's only a 10 minute walk from the train station. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. The weather did not allow us to relax on the large terrace but we still had a wonderful 4 night stay.

Didn't really know what to expect never staying in florence before. The owner was very kind and helpful who ordered us a taxi when needed and handed fresh towel and small breakfast. I.e crossiant and herbal teas. Location is literally behind the train station so 1 view from the admirable terrace is this which isn't great but the other way...

This B&B is a little gem of a place located about ten mins from the main train station in Florence. It's on the 6th floor with a gorgeous terrace to enjoy your breakfast in the morning or a late night glass of prossecco while over looking the city. The two gents running it are truly gentleman. Matteo and Alessio. Friendly,...

We arrived to Florence after a busy week in Rome and had a long journey in incredible heat to the B&B. Matteo instantly made us feel very welcome and was not only friendly but also extremely helpful with activities and events in Florence that would be worth doing as well as bus routes, walking routes, timings etc. If I return...

Room was clean and the hosts friendly with good communication. The hotel was an easy fifteen/ twenty minute walk from the station. The terrace was a nice place to sit outdoors but overlooked the railway and a busy road. Breakfast was basic but adequate and there was an option for an additional coffee each day. You need to walk or...

Matteo is a very endearing personality and very hospitable. The place is about a kilometer's walk from the train station. There is a doner place and couple of pizza joints on the way. There is an old man's shop nearby for 'birra' and water. The b&b had a great rooftop terrace as mentioned in the other reviews. Breakfast was OK....

When we arrived, Matteo was there to greet us after a bit of a snafu with our rental car. Our room was beautiful, with a private balcony and a view of the Duomo. In addition to the private balcony, we made frequent use of the rooftop balcony as well, enjoying spuntino before heading into the city for dinner and drinks....

Florence is a beautiful city and this lovely budget hotel just shares the same attribute as of the city. Close to the railway station , Alla dimora altea offers you a comfortable and relaxed stay. The cleanliness is second to none and breakfast can be served in the room as well. But i would suggest having the breakfast on the balcony...

Location - It is located almost 1 KM from main train station SMN and takes 10-15mins by walk but is opposite to city center so less crowd and deserted streets. The B&B is in 6th floor of a building so don't look for the whole building else you will keep on searching. Nearby - A good Indian restaurant is nearby(5...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
