Last week we stayed for 5 nights at Hotel Palazzo Castri 1874. We made the reservation directly with the hotel as we made last minute travel plans and they offered us an upgrade to the Superior Room. Upon arrival we were suprised by the size of the room, it was very clean and they even provided a dog bed for our little dog who was traveling with us. The hotel garden is very well maintained and equipped with a whirlpool and SPA which you can reserve at the front desk. The breakfast was very good, despite the fact that there is no buffet due to covid regulations. The hotel staff is extremely helpful and friendly after a few contact moments they remember your room number and name which makes the experience very personal. The rooms and hotel are extremely clean and they also offer a valet parking service which was ideal for us. I recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be at the Heart of the city but also a relaxing experience. I will definitely come back to Palazzo Castri when I visit Florence again.

We upgraded our room which gave us a fabulous view of the Duomo, the pool and a little balcony. I noticed the room was larger than the regular rooms too. The room and bathroom were faultless and had lots of white fluffy towels, dressing gowns and slippers. We weren’t however impressed with the breakfast which wasn’t as wonderful as our other previous Italian breakfasts. The pastries didn’t taste fresh, there was no toast and the sausages were pale pink and chopped up so rather unappealing. There wasn’t a good fresh fruit selection but the eggs and bacon were fortunately good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were only four cushioned sun loungers so quite limited if more than this number wished to lie around the pool. There were other forms of seating though like sofas and deck chairs. The road outside the Hotel to walk into the centre was very busy with people and traffic (the main road to the train station)but to avoid this we turned right instead of left and found a quieter walk in.

Lovely hotel. Our first floor room with a small terrace on the interior patio was just perfect. Well appointed with a very high ceiling giving a sense of spaciousness not found no most central city European hotels. The place even smells so fresh and clean that we were prompted to buy some Acqua dell'Elba (Limonaia) home diffusers as they have in the hotel, for our home

We were really looking forward to our stay in the Palazzo Castri, but ended up being very disappointed. We had a Junior Suite and it was rather small. The bathroom was right next to the sleeping area and had glass on the doors, Thus, if someone got up to use the bathroom at night and turned on the lights, it would wake up the other person. In addition, the noise coming from the heating/air system was very loud. Even with ear plugs we could hear it (my wife's parents had room next to us for 1 night and it kept them up all night). We could also hear noise from rooms all around us. They did move us our room after the first night and it got a little better. We called to order extra pillows and had to call 3x (each time). The breakfast was ok. The breads were rather stale. The evening tea was also disappointing. They would run out of desserts and it would take a while to restock the trays.

On the positive side, the hotel garden is beautiful. After our room was moved we had a beautiful view of the Duomo. The manager went out of her way to help us and she was very nice. The problems with the rooms etc are out of her control. The hotel is just not built very well. The location of the hotel is a short walk from the train station and very central to everything in Florence.

Overall, very disappointed in our experience. Probably would look for another hotel in Florence.

After our arrival we had a very warm welcome at the Palazzo Castri and all the staff was very friendly and explained where to find everything within the hotel.
We received our roomkey and were happy to have a room with our private terrace, but unfortunately after one night it turned out that our room was right next to the breakfast room and so it started to be very very noisy at 6:00 am when breakfast was prepared.
We asked for a room change and have been given the opportunity to change to the second floor, where the room was a bit smaller and we had no balcony, but in total it was much better as the noise was a lot less during the night and in the morning, than the room before.
The breakfast at the hotel is good and we enjoyed it every morning.
For the pool and the spa area, there was unfortunately a list, where you were only allowed to book 1 1/2 hours per day for the pool, which I found a bit strange, and it made it quite impossible to decide to have some pool tiime after a trip to the town to cool off.
Well cooling off was actually also not really possible, as the pool temperature was like in a bath tub, but at least it was nice and a bit re-freshing neverthelss, when you could get a possible time slot.
For the general location of the hotel we can say, that it is perfectly located to get to the center of Florence within just a couple of minutes walking and there are lot's of dining possibilities around, so that we really enjoyed a couple very nce evenings for Aperitives and dinner!

All in all we can recommend this hotel, but would for sure prefer a room that is not on the ground floor.
Staff is very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay in Florence!

We got off the bus from the airport and walked to the hotel. We missed it first time but when we finnaly ariived we were very surprised at the lookmadn feel of the interior of the hotel. Lovely engagign staff and teh junior suite was a WOW!
We couldn't have picked a better city or a better hotel to start our married life.

The hotel pool and spa area was cosy and intimate and it was a good idea not to let too many people in at one time.

The food was a good choice but teh staff were very kind.

We have taken away ideas for our new house from the hotel!

This is a very comfortable and welcoming hotel. Located only a ten minute walk to the main train station, it provides easy access to the major sites, most within a 15 minute walk through the old town. The central market (Mercato Centrale) is only 3 minutes walk away with many restaurants and bars along the way. The hotel itself is quite nice. Rooms are comfortable and spotless; the breakfast is abundant with many choices in all the food categories and overseen by attentive servers; the front desk staff is always present and helpful; and the central garden (Limonaia) and pool are added features. Congratulazioni a tutti al Palazzo Castri!

We returned to Florence and chose to stay at Palazzo Castri 1874 once again, because we had enjoyed it so much the first time. Truly an oasis in the bustling city, the tranquility begins when the glass door slides open and the light and scent of the hotel welcomes you.
The staff is just wonderful, so welcoming and kind. The hotel itself is beautiful. light and airy with a feel that is timeless-kind of like Florence itself, old and new in one. Our high-ceilinged room (simple, calm and comfortable) looked out over the garden, where complimentary tea is served in the afternoon, with a glimpse of the duomo from the window. Breakfast buffet was excellent, and when we ordered room service food after a long day travelling to the Cinque Terre it was delicious. And of course the spa and pool were perfect, great to unwind after exploring the city. Palazzo Castri is tucked away but it's easy to walk to anything from here, il duomo, the river, the train station, the city center, and we really liked that sense of "coming home." We hope to come home to Palazzo Castri again soon.

Just recently returned from Florence with a portion of our stay at the Palazzo Castri 1874. Everything about our stay was perfect, I would highly recommend it. Staff were very knowledge and fluent in English, the room was spotless (and the housekeeping came in like ninja's) we never saw them but the rooms was always made up perfectly. Short to walk to many sites in the City Centre, outdoor gardens were lovely.

The hotel was wonderful! We specifically chose the hotel for the spa, which was worth it! The breakfast is good, and the afternoon tea time offered was a nice touch. I also appreciated that the toiletries are silicon/paraben free (lotion, shampoo, etc). The staff was great and the valet service was helpful so we didn't have to find parking.

Downside: The hot tub in the spa was not warm enough, it definitely needed to be 2-3 degrees warmer.
