On the positive side, the hotel garden is beautiful. After our room was moved we had a beautiful view of the Duomo. The manager went out of her way to help us and she was very nice. The problems with the rooms etc are out of her control. The hotel is just not built very well. The location of the hotel is a short walk from the train station and very central to everything in Florence.
Overall, very disappointed in our experience. Probably would look for another hotel in Florence.
We received our roomkey and were happy to have a room with our private terrace, but unfortunately after one night it turned out that our room was right next to the breakfast room and so it started to be very very noisy at 6:00 am when breakfast was prepared.
We asked for a room change and have been given the opportunity to change to the second floor, where the room was a bit smaller and we had no balcony, but in total it was much better as the noise was a lot less during the night and in the morning, than the room before.
The breakfast at the hotel is good and we enjoyed it every morning.
For the pool and the spa area, there was unfortunately a list, where you were only allowed to book 1 1/2 hours per day for the pool, which I found a bit strange, and it made it quite impossible to decide to have some pool tiime after a trip to the town to cool off.
Well cooling off was actually also not really possible, as the pool temperature was like in a bath tub, but at least it was nice and a bit re-freshing neverthelss, when you could get a possible time slot.
For the general location of the hotel we can say, that it is perfectly located to get to the center of Florence within just a couple of minutes walking and there are lot's of dining possibilities around, so that we really enjoyed a couple very nce evenings for Aperitives and dinner!
All in all we can recommend this hotel, but would for sure prefer a room that is not on the ground floor.
Staff is very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay in Florence!
We couldn't have picked a better city or a better hotel to start our married life.
The hotel pool and spa area was cosy and intimate and it was a good idea not to let too many people in at one time.
The food was a good choice but teh staff were very kind.
We have taken away ideas for our new house from the hotel!
The staff is just wonderful, so welcoming and kind. The hotel itself is beautiful. light and airy with a feel that is timeless-kind of like Florence itself, old and new in one. Our high-ceilinged room (simple, calm and comfortable) looked out over the garden, where complimentary tea is served in the afternoon, with a glimpse of the duomo from the window. Breakfast buffet was excellent, and when we ordered room service food after a long day travelling to the Cinque Terre it was delicious. And of course the spa and pool were perfect, great to unwind after exploring the city. Palazzo Castri is tucked away but it's easy to walk to anything from here, il duomo, the river, the train station, the city center, and we really liked that sense of "coming home." We hope to come home to Palazzo Castri again soon.
Downside: The hot tub in the spa was not warm enough, it definitely needed to be 2-3 degrees warmer.
"Take the T2 tram from the airport and short walk. Check out the market, only a few minutes walk away. Pre book tickets to the Uffizi."Read full review
"The tram from the airport is exceptional. Had a great meal at La Menagere. The hotel front desk got us the last table… :-)"Read full review
