We were disappointed. Certainly not a "boutique" hotel. Maybe we needed to change our budget post covid, but this felt more like a hostel. There are a variety of rooms spread over a couple of floors no central reception, a bit of an odd set up really. The room was very basic and in need of decoration. But the bed was reasonably comfortable and the linen was spotless. The bathroom was large and I enjoyed the overhead shower, but the body jets were pathetic and water dribbled out. There was also quite a lot of black mould in the shower enclosure. Inevitable as one of the 'walls' was a wooden shutter, but still not nice. The room was also very noisy, both from the noise of the street, all night long and I'm not exaggerating, people outside were shouting at 2am, 3am, 4am....... also the air conditioning started making this dreadful banging noise, we had to turn it off. "Free breakfast" despite it being advertised as such on trip advisor, reviews mentioning lovely breakfast and on our booking.com booking form stating breakfast, there is NO breakfast available. Our room was serviced every day, which was nice and not so much the norm these days. Location was fabulous, really couldn't have been better. Previous reviews mentioned good staff, we only saw one, Barbara the receptionist and she was lovely, friendly and helpful.…
Highly recommend this quaint and friendly hotel. Situated in the heart of the city but discreetly situated within a classical building which offers respite and detachment from the hustle and bustle below. Room clean and comfortable and air conditioning welcome on a warm summer’s day. Had a delightful breakfast on the roof terrace amongst the neighbouring roof tops with scenic views of the city. Our stay was brief ( one night), but we were made to feel welcome by the staff- special mention to Maria Novello who welcomed us and was friendly and informative. Will definitely return if ever back in Florence. Gerry and Kirsten Keegan Kinross-shire Scotland
From the street you wouldn't even know you were at a hotel. Even upon entering you wonder. But once you get into the hotel you are greeted with extremely wonderful staff and nice rooms. When you enter the building you have to climb (and carry your suitcase - though they sent someone down to help us) up a long flight of steps. Then there is an elevator. The elevator does not go down to the ground floor. There is air conditioning and modern bathrooms. Breakfast is very nice. And you cannot beat the location! Walking distance to all the major places - Duomo, Academia, Palazzo Vecchio + Piazza de la Signoria, Santa Croce and leather school, Mercata Centrale, Ponte Vecchio etc. The only time we needed a taxi was to go to Piazza Michelangelo to see the sunset. Marianovella and Antonella were super helpful with directions and making reservations at restaurants for us.…
We just stayed a week in the triple maisonnette room in this hotel - very pleasant ! Very helpful staff, super location - right central to every historical highlight - good beds and somewhat modest but clean facilities. Situated in a classic building right in the city Centre, but very quiet at night ! To be recommended for a visit to historical Florence.
This hotel is absolutely overrated and overpriced. It is a very basic wanna be boutique hotel where the furniture is worn out. Wanting to be vintage is good but the toilet paper holder or the shower products holder do not need to be rusty and disgusting! The hotel is perfectly placed in a very busy part of the city center (next to Dante’s church) and is obviously very noisy as soon as you open the windows. The only way of having some air at night is to be lucky enough to have one of the rooms that do not give on the main street. Also being an old building you have thin walls and even thinner doors. So if your room is near the reception (most of which are as it is a very small 1 floor hotel) you can say goodbye to sleeping in late in the morning and resting in the afternoon. All receptionists were very nice and accommodating. We first had a disaster room (204) giving on the main street, no soundproofed bathroom window and a noisy airco next to the reception. And they kindly changed our room for the two following nights as soon as we asked. Just a bit of dishonest admin issues which I am still dealing with (they declared me as a no show on the booking platform as they say to be able to change the room; which is very shady - they will just pay no commission to the booking platform but I am still charged a higher price and they prevent me from writing a review on that platfrom). The second room was much much better and calmer than the first one but even there the toilet flush was not fully working and the lights of the whole room would just automatically go off after a while (probably an issue with the card holder or timer). Also the cleanness is ok but not perfect (less than this and it would be dirty), there is no breakfast service and no safe place to leave luggages they are just left at the reception/sitting area. In short a great location, good bedding and nice people but the rest does not live up to a 3 star “boutique” standard and certainly not to ratings it has received.…
A quite beautiful hotel, little hard to find, it’s just beside the Dante museum and above his church. Paid €149 for 2 nights in February, staff were most helpful and very efficient, rooms are of a good size and the shower always had hot water. We left early one morning so they did a takeaway breakfast for us. As for location it could not be any better, your never more than a kilometre from most attractions and less than 200 meters from the cathedral (Florence’s huge land mark). Breakfast was very good and lots of it, WiFi strength superb. I would recommend This hotel to anyone. Fantastic staff, fantastic value and fantastic location.
Perfect location near the Duomo and walking distance to so many great shops and restaurants. Staff is very friendly and helpful with organizing reservations. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed the rooftop deck for great views of the city. Be advised that there are many steps to enter but there is a ramp and a lift for easier access
This hotel was very well located. Around 10 min walking from train station and you can reach by foot so many tourist spots, stores, museums, restaurants. Excellent service. Perfect for families. Our group was 4 people and we got the 2 floors room: living room/ sleeping area, big kitchen, laundry in the first floor. Second floor 1 small den / sleeping area and a big bedroom with plenty storage/ closets and linens. Cons: only one old bathroom in the second floor to share, they need to upgraded. Summer was very hot and the AC worked perfect. Hard to bring luggages up, there is a ramp, many stairs and a very small elevator. We didn’t get any food service at the hotel, but they have breakfast and a terrace where to eat. This hotel is very convenient, don’t expect luxury.
Spent three nights with my family to celebrate my wife 30th Birthday. The staff have been from the beginning extremely helpful to help me with some details of the surprise and to make our staying the most comfortable possible. The hotel itself is literally in the heart of Florence on the second and third floor of a historic building which makes the access to the hotel not the easiest if travelling with a buggy/stroller despite the lift. The breakfast choice was very limited and yet a very enjoyable breakfast. Everything comes fresh every morning and the quality is really good. We stayed in a family room which offers plenty of space and lots of period features in the room. All rooms have a complimentary Nespresso coffee machine, by far the best coffee I have ever had in a hotel room. Being in the centre of the city it can't be quite noisy at night, other than that we really enjoyed our staying and again we were impressed by the service provided by the staff.…
We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights during our visit in Florence. The location was ideal, next to Duomo. The room was really good, clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfast was delicious, of good quality and there was a decent variety of choices.Of course all of the members of the staff are really friendly and helpful. Totally worth it.
