NIce room. Great location. Good price. A couple of quirks to be aware of. The rooms are not associated with the restaurant in the same building that shares the name "Canessa". The barman at the restaurant can be a little surly when you ask him about the rooms. Also, the woman who manages the rooms is a litte distracted. She took our passports to do the registration and then disappeared for eight hours. We had to track her down later that evening and she seemed to have forgotten she had or passports. We did get them back, however. Also, the Ristorante Canessa seems to be the only one in Italy that isn't open in the evenings and there is nothing else open in the evening in Populonia, so plan accordingly. On the other hand, at 60 Euros per night, the quirks were probably worth it.
Hello travelers, I stayed in this amazing place for 3 days in May 2015. It is literally the at the end of the road and that adds to the appeal of the place. The room was very nice and the balcony, too. The pebble beach started right beneath the window and I had an amazing view over Baratti bay. There is a restaurant in the same building and it is good and serves breakfast. Right next to the entrance is the starting point for several trails the lead to all attractions like the Etruscan town of Populonia or the ruins of a monastery. I will stay here again.
This review comes from a visit from 2.5 years ago, so it might not be accurate anymore. But we wanted to share the experience and so I am currently writing some reviews from our last holiday trips. We booked this because of the direct seaview and immediate location at the beach. This was very good, especially as there are probably no other options where you can be more at the beach than here. Cleanliness and quality were adequate. The odd thing though was the "welcome". When we arrived then (on time at the right day) you were completely left alone and we had to phone a woman who pretended not to understand English. The people at the bar nearby said that they have nothing to do with the rooms and were not very helpful then. I think it took at least an hour and several phone call as well as the threat to call the police before the female manager arrived and handed the keys to us. After that we had a very nice stay though, and no more problems.…
