It was a nice and cozy old building. The shower was brand new and the bedroom was antique yet pretty nice. It offers a nice view of the forest below and is located a five minute walk from the town center

It is not an hotel neither a pension. No reception, no room service, no breakfast served and an old woman doing the checking in at certain moments. No check out. You leave the key wherever you can. All the charm of Italy. Except the very thin walls and consequently that you can hear anything in the other bed rooms all... More

We had a lovely couple of nights stay at Le Romite - it is situated just a minutes walk from the old walls of San Gimignano. The rooms are basic but very clean and so full of character, I loved the high ceilings and rustic furniture. Our room had stunning views towards the old town walls as well as panoramic... More

Stayed here three nights, and found the place suited us very well. Slightly off the town centre, but easy walking distance to all restaurants and attractions. Views from the bedroom were spectacular, especially at sunrise. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. No other hotel facilities at all though. It is just rooms, and as such it would be better with a small... More

Unimpressive from the outside where there is a plain door with little signage but it gets better! We knocked, unsure we had the right place and an old man with a white beard smoking a cigarello opened the door and didn't seem to realise we'd booked. He got a young lad to go fetch the female manager who turned up... More

Dismal property, gloomy & badly kept, not cleaned properly. Very difficult to contact the man allocated to open the property up & then we had to sit & wait for half an hour. We were the only guests & the property was outside the city walls with nothing else nearby. The description and pictures were completely misleading. The contact then... More

We got off the bus to San Gimignano and the owner met us to take us to the hotel. Not my usual type of hotel - no reception, no tea making facilities and only a noisy a/c unit but it's quite lovely. Having front door keys and putting on lights a bit strange! No lift, but owner carried our bags... More

Very friendly laid back owner. Yes, he does speak only a bit english but he tries his best to get the message across. The room was very spacious and as someone noted here, the AC was not really working (well more as a fan then a AC). You can't beat the private secure parking space that comes along with the... More

We loved our stay at the Le Romite. I had read previous post about the host only being around when guests book in so I emailed ahead our expected arrival time and were greeted by the friendliest most helpful host. He does speak some English, certainly more than I speak Italian. Having a parking place is a real bonus. The... More
