This is a beautiful property overlooking Siena. As a 14th century converted monastery, you get the feeling of history, peace, tranquility and staying somewhere that is completely authentic and lovingly restored. Service was faultless, our room spotlessly clean and so very quiet. Breakfast was perfect, and in such stunning surrounds. The only downside was that we only had one night...

We stayed in this charming converted monastery for two nights with our adult children. The hotel sits on a hillside surrounded by olive groves and vineyards and is incredibly peaceful. A medieval courtyard is in the centre of the hotel and iis surrounded by flower filed cloisters and a church that still functions. It is incredibly atmospheric. There are more...

The property itself is spectacular. As noted by others it is away from the city centre but the property is much like a peaceful oasis. The rooms (and the washrooms) are huge. The internet service is terrible. We were also told that the problem with the internet was a problem that resulted from our computer...this was untrue. We found the...

This hotel used to be a monastery and is situated about 10 minutes cab ride from Sienna. It felt very different from your normal hotel. Huge guest rooms that are decked out with attention to detail. There are many other rooms for guests to use (libraries, lounge rooms etc.) and all beautifully and interestingly fitted. It is a place with...

Fantastic place with very good staff, and great location just outside Sienna, that said no restaurant and rundown gardens. A hotel that in its day would have been one of the best or the best in town, sadly in need of work and more facilities. Not offering a restaurant service is a big miss in such a great place, forces...

We stayed here for 4 nights and, arriving with already quite high expectations, the hotel managed to exceed all of them. You can walk to the piazza deal campo...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In Tuscany, 1 Km from Siena immersed in an uncontaminated countryside you find a XIV century Carthusian monastery, La Certosa di Maggiano turned into a Relais et Chateaux Hotel in 1978. An enchanting place, a light and natural luxury masterfully interpreted by the famous architect and interior designer, Renzo Mongiardino. A clear architecture with interiors rich in history dressed with impalpable silks and ornamental paintings & skillfully integrated within the natural and cultural environment. In line with this life born for silence and prayer, la Certosa di Maggiano offers today a set of services and activities aimed to improve your overall state of physical and spiritual wellness. A state of mind so well interpreted by the restaurant "Il Canto" and its Chef Paolo Lopriore, whose cuisine is another multi-sensorial journey which perfectly match our quest for life style, beauty & nature. ... more   less
