Old building with stylishly decorated, large rooms, very clean. Mine looked out onto the fabulous garden and was super quiet. The garden has a great view of the Tuscan hills. Classy service, loved the breakfast room. Personally, I enjoyed the 10 min. walk to the old city, especially passing through the stately Roman gate. Great value overall.

We stayed two nights at this attractive hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Particular thanks are due to a young man at the desk who went out of his way to help us with luggage, directions and returning a rented car. Beautiful view from the terrace and convenient location just outside the city walls. Easy walk into the beautiful city of...

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Caterina for a second time. The first time was outstanding and we knew our mothers, aged 81 and 85, would love the garden, sipping wine looking out over the Tuscan countryside, as well as the ample breakfast with everything one could desire. The Caterina was as remembered...perfect!

This was our fourth trip to Italy, and the first time we were going to stay in Siena. On an earlier trip to Italy we did a day visit, and thought that Siena would be a good central location for daily tours of the Tuscan countryside and hill towns. Our travel agent recommended the Santa Caterina. The good news is...

We stayed here one night. We found the room clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel is outside the old Roman gate and about a 20 minute walk to the main sites and most restaurants. We did, however, find a nice restaurant within 5 minute walk (Fori Porta). The bathroom is nice and clean; however, there are no shelves for...

As in prior review(s) we find this place to be perfect for access to Tuscany and Siena, place to park the car, good cab access to the train station and car return, good walking access to Siena, super back garden with the view out over Tuscany for afternoon travel slowdown before dinner, attentive/competent service. This is our third stay here....we'll...

Beautiful stay. The courtyard overlooks Siena and it breathtaking. Morning breakfast in very extensive offering a variety of choices good for vegetarians, and non. Family owned. Service is always attentive. Rooms have A/C; somewhat small for two people but definitely worth the stay. A plus: hotel is right in front of the bus stop (super cute and tiny) that takes...

What a lovely hotel. I got the recommendation from Rick Steve's Italy 2016 book and it does not disappoint. The room was very nice with a sitting area overlooking the pretty yard. The sleeping quarters were on an upper level which you ascend by a quaint spiral stairway. The breakfast area was in a lovely room off the yard and...

This was our second time visiting. This time we brought friends. All that is said about the view and courtyard is true. Picturesque and peaceful, with some of the best views of Tuscany. After spending a two nights in this hotel that we all loved, we were planning to leave when our next destination, Nice, was struck by tragedy. All...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Santa Caterina Hotel in Siena offers more than a bed and a breakfast service. Housed in a renovated 18th-century patrician villa, it is a small and cosy hotel lying just a few metres from Porta Romana (Roman Gate), one of the medieval accesses to the town centre of Siena. If you are looking among all the hotels in Tuscany - and specifically among the hotels in Siena - for the one that can serve you both as a base for daily excursions and as a comfortable pied-à-terre within the city limits, our 22-room facility will meet your needs. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, direct telephone, TV Sat, minibar, air conditioning, wireless Internet access, and are furnished, as the lounge is, in the typical old Tuscan style.Providing guests with the cheerfulness and cosiness of a typical Siena’s bed and breakfast, Santa Caterina guarantees much more. The wide and luxuriant garden with its veranda where breakfast is served can offer you what other Siena hotels cannot, that is, a view over the splendid Siena landscapes that will paint before your eyes every morning unexpected, changing colour shades among hilly lines. The refined but homely atmosphere and its privileged location, make this hotel the ideal place for a romantic and pleasant stay in the land locals love to call the old-fashioned way, "Terra di Siena", the land of Siena in Italy's heart. At Santa Caterina, “hotels in Siena” means home. Come and enjoy our home! ... more   less
