My wife and I spent a lovely half-day with Letizia Mattiacci, who lives in the hills near Assisi in a lovely spot overlooking hills, valleys, and forests. We learned how to make ravioli (secret: flour must be 9-11% gluten), herbed chicken, and a ricotta-chocolate torte. This was country cooking, not haute cuisine, so the tips we learned are more applicable...

We have always enjoyed our stay at this agriturismo as B&B guests for a few nights. This time we stayed a full week in the apartment rental. We had a great time touring Umbria and enjoying the food in several restaurants. It was fun having room to cook and even wash some clothes. Letizia and family made us feel so...

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautiful house in this beautiful spot. Letizia and Ruurd are great hosts; the rooms are spotless and elegantly appointed, with a spectacular view. We took a cooking class with Letizia and highly recommend all visitors do so. A memorable stay and a highlight of our trip to Umbria.

We stayed here in this renovated hotel/home and found it delightful! The views over the valley are wondrous and the serenity and privacy of the location inspiring. I highly recommend taking one of Letizia's hands on cooking classes where you cook your late lunch together with loads of cooking information given and then eat outside overlooking the valley. Never to...

Wonderful and gracious hosts with great suggestions for the surrounding area. Nice clean rooms with beautiful views. Breakfast was simple but delicious, including yummy homemade jam and yogurt! It is very off the beaten path and the drive there can be scary, up a typical narrow, winding, and steep road with massive pot holes - it's also a 20 minute...

This was our second stay with Letizia. this time we felt like we were going to visit as friend. Letizia is warm, inviting, a 1st class host and B&B owner, and an incredible cook!! Her breakfasts include warm, fresh from the oven bread, fine cheese, homemade jams(the wild cherry is incredible), cereals and other treats. All made by her with...

Spent a lovely day with a group of friends learning about Letizia's philosophy of food. Wise words about the quality of ingredients, and the value of preparing seasonal local dishes. The guidance was constructive and clear. We came away enthused and keen to try out our new pasta-making skills - we did so and it was wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting...

We met Letezia and Ruurd last year at their excellent cooking class and resolved then to return to Umbria and stay with them. We took another amazing cooking class during our stay, and loved the peace and quiet of their establishment. All details were attended to very well indeed. The location afforded easy access to the many wonders of Umbria....

This is a cooking school. We had the pleasure of learning about and participating in Italian cooking with Letizia, the Lady of the Plate (Madonna de la Piatta). First we drove way above Assisi (Google Maps got us there) and met Letizia and immediately felt welcomed. We sat on the covered terrace with a view of the mountains, valleys, and...

We didn't stay at the B&B but would love to in the future. We took a cooking class with Letizia and enjoyed every minute of it. She has such a passion for cooking, quality ingredients and making traditional recipes work in a modern world. Since I've been home, I have made several of her recipes and they've been delicious. She...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our home, a renovated farmhouse, is a small eco-friendly B&B near Assisi, in Umbria. The centuries-old stone house overlooks the beautiful town of Assisi. All rooms have a magnificent view of Assisi's world famous basilica, dedicated to St. Francis and housing some of Italy's most important art treasures. Our agriturismo is a quiet oasis both day and night, an ideal spot to unwind. You will awake every morning to the sights of the rolling Umbrian hills and the medieval town of Assisi perched on the Subasio mountain. You can linger for hours watching the sheep graze in the fields, sunbathe on the terracotta-paved terrace or sip a glass of wine under the grapevine arbor. If, on the other hand, you can tear yourself away from the garden and its panorama, our bed and breakfast is conveniently located to explore Umbria's beautiful medieval hill towns. Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto and Perugia, as well as Tuscany's splendid Renaissance city Siena, Cortona and the Chianti wine region are all within about an hour's drive. If you enjoy walking, the Subasio natural park and the Franciscan Path of Peace and woodllands are only minutes away. ... more   less
