I returned to Alla Madonna del Piatto after being there five years earlier. It was like going back to see a good friend. Letizia greeted us and the friend who was traveling with me immediately knew why I wanted to return to this wonderful B & B. As we traveled up the mountain to Alla Madonna, I am sure she...

We spent 5 nights in this beautiful agriturisimo. Leticia and Ruurd were wonderful hosts & very helpful to us. We took Leticia's cooking class and it was so much fun. The surrounding area is very peaceful and we found it a great location to see much of the Umbria countryside and hill towns. The rooms are immaculate with spectacular views...

Letizia, the B&B owner, was a great host . Even before we arrived she was helpful in questions we had about the area, etc. When we got there, we were warmly welcomed and by the end of the trip, we felt like we were leaving a friend. Her warmth permeates the place and we had a great time getting to...

Letizia and Ruurd are wonderful hosts of this bed, breakfast and possible cooking class. It is a long way up, but I still rate this location one of the best because of it's breathtaking view of Assisi (and you can't get views like that without working for it). We had a marvelous time at the cooking class, but woke every...

When visiting Umbria countryside all you need is the contact with Letizia, who teach you everything you need to know about Umbria and its food. She knows the places where you should go and restaurants to visit. The cooking class stayed focused, the phase is fast, so be active and you will get most of it. Our room was in...

We are always grateful for the many wonderful comments our guests have posted on Tripadvisor over the years. Our B&B is too small to justify a restaurant service but the closest restaurant is at 1 km (less than a mile) from us, basically walking distance. There are two restaurants is at 4/5 km (2.5-3 miles) from here, less than 10...

Letizia and Ruurd were wonderful hosts from the moment we arrived. The farmhouse was quite charming and well located outside Assisi, but within easy driving distance to town and some wonderful restaurants. They had a wealth of information and good recommendations that helped us make the most of our stay in Umbria - from restaurants and ceramics to quaint hill...

We stayed at this lovely refurbished farmhouse in the hills overlooking the town of Assisi for 5 days, using it as a base for exploring Umbria. Leticia and Ruurd have created a paradise here where guests can take a cooking class with Leticia and learn the secrets to great Umbrian cuisine. For breakfast Leticia bakes fresh bread and makes homemade...

We stayed at Alla Madonna del Piatto for three nights in October 2009. We could not have been happier with both the choice to see Umbria and the choice to stay at Letzia's charming B&B. Guests are warmly welcomed. The rooms are simple, but tastefully decorated and they boast spectacular views. Letzia is a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding...

From the aroma of fresh bread baking in the oven to the scene from our window of sheep grazing in the fields before a magnificant view of Assisi, this charming 500 year-old bed and breakfast provides a most relaxing, comfortable and truly Italian experience. Stayed here with my wife for three nights in August, 2009. There are lots of nice agriturismo places in Umbria, and that are near Assisi. What makes Madonna del Piatto stand out are two things. First, the owner, Letizia, is very kind and a virtual encyclopedia of information on good places to visit, particularly for restaurants and shopping. The other...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our home, a renovated farmhouse, is a small eco-friendly B&B near Assisi, in Umbria. The centuries-old stone house overlooks the beautiful town of Assisi. All rooms have a magnificent view of Assisi's world famous basilica, dedicated to St. Francis and housing some of Italy's most important art treasures. Our agriturismo is a quiet oasis both day and night, an ideal spot to unwind. You will awake every morning to the sights of the rolling Umbrian hills and the medieval town of Assisi perched on the Subasio mountain. You can linger for hours watching the sheep graze in the fields, sunbathe on the terracotta-paved terrace or sip a glass of wine under the grapevine arbor. If, on the other hand, you can tear yourself away from the garden and its panorama, our bed and breakfast is conveniently located to explore Umbria's beautiful medieval hill towns. Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto and Perugia, as well as Tuscany's splendid Renaissance city Siena, Cortona and the Chianti wine region are all within about an hour's drive. If you enjoy walking, the Subasio natural park and the Franciscan Path of Peace and woodllands are only minutes away. ... more   less
