On my recent journey to Italy, in spring 2019, I have seen many beautiful places, but this was one of the best! At this lovely place in a small lane up the hills in Assisi I truly felt like I could be at home here for a while. The room is situated in an old building but newly refurbished and renovated, and everything was nice and clean and cosy. There is enough space with two beds and you have a kitchen as well as a nicely decorated modern bathroom. The host and his family of four kids live in the same house, and they are very mindful to help you with anything you might want. Just one word of wanring: Don´t go up by car -- it will be a rather unpleasant adventure if you do so. However the host will show you a parking lot nearby and from there you have a short way to walk which you´ll enjoy, too because of the beautiful and rare neighborhood.…
Beautiful character to the room and the narrow quiet street it is on just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of town. It is in a great location, really good value for money and the host Stefano gave us great tips on where to visit.
My wife and I stayed at Il Vico del Poeta for 6 nights in March 2019. The owner, Stefano, has two apartments, we stayed in the larger of the two. The accommodations were very good; comfortable, spacious, and well located. The apartments are in the residential area, so you’re away from the tourist hustle and bustle, but still close enough to be convenient. They are about a 2 minute walk to Cattedrale di San Rufino and about a 5-6 minute walk to Piazza del Commune (where the Temple of Minerva is). The apartment itself is spacious enough. It has a queen sized bed, kitchenette with fridge and cooking implements provided, a large closet, and private bath with shower. It is clean, well kept, and very comfortable. And every morning, we had a basket filled with yogurt, fruit, pastries, and other goodies for breakfast hung on the front door. Stefano was an awesome host. Upon our arrival, he met us and helped with our bags, then spent about 20 minutes orienting us to the town. He gave us a map and pointed out restaurants, markets, points of interest, and traced out paths for us to get to areas we were particularly interested in. He even gave us a ride to the Hermitage and to the train station at the end of our stay. He was always available to provide assistance and advice about the town, but was unobtrusive and discreet. We will definitely stay there again, and enthusiastically recommend Il Vico del Poeta to anyone traveling to Assisi.…
This is a small apartment not a room. The kitchenette was very nice to have even though we did not use it and the room was the most spacious we had while in Italy. Close walking to most sites in town and Stefano was a fantastic host. He was around quite a bit of the time just to make sure we had everything we needed. Would recommend for anyone looking to enjoy their stay and meet one of the nicest people in Italy.
Vico del Poeta had been recommended by a friend who had stayed here before, and we were not disappointed! We were sent very clear and detailed joining instructions beforehand and received a very warm welcome by Stefano who looked after us beautifully. We stayed in lignum, one of 2 apartments in this typical old Assisi house at the top of the town and felt at home as soon as we entered. The accomodation is very tasteful and comfortable and lies in a quiet street away from the main tourist track, yet within a few minutes walk of all the main attractions Assisi has to offer- and there are plenty! Every morning a basket of breakfast goodies was delivered by Stefano to our front door including fresh pastries, yogurts and fruit juices, and there was fresh Italian coffee and a stove top Bialetti coffee maker in the kitchen. The kitchen has all the equipment to cook light meals which we did on 2 occasions (local pasta, truffle paste and dried porcini- heavenly!) We were even able to use the washing machine to catch up on some washing since we had been travelling for 2 weeks. Even though there is no 'official' outdoor space (we used the front door step) we think this is a wonderful place, and we can't wait to return! Grazie mille Stefano!…
