The hotel is well located in the middle of the old town; the reception indicated us where to park and from that parking we had to go up five levels of automatic stairs! - much better than driving! Our twin standard room was large and clean, and we enjoyed having a sofa. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were too heavy. The hotel has a beautiful reading room and a nice terrace (too complicate to have breakfast on it), both of them not much used by tourists but "nice to have"! The internet was working so and so. The reception staff were kind and nice. The water in the fridge was delicious! Disliked · There were stairs from the room to the bathroom. The windows of our room faced a crowded street with people talking loudly after midnight. Not many sockets, and most of the existing ones not compatible with other EU standards. The breakfast offered many choices of bread and sweet pastries, but not much without flour; didn't like the young lady from the breakfast room...

Hotel Fortuna is a really nice hotel in an ancient building in the heart of Perugia. The room could have been a bit cleaner and up to date in terms of comforts and facilities. Though, we enjoyed the breakfast and the location overall. Suggested for short staying.

Hotel has perfect location, bit it is very pity that hotel it self is not took care well. It's super outdated! It's cryingly asking for RENOVATION! We came with my husband for our wedding anniversary and we were very disappointed that pictures online looks much much better then reality, we even asked to changed rooms, because their "lux" level room is not even close to the lux class room. Changed room was better but for sure not worth the amount that you are paying for. Corners of bathroom are full of mold!!! Beds are old and hard and most important it's MAKING SOUNDS when you are turning from one side to the other!!!! Beds doesn't have any duvet ,it's just old plaid put on top of it. It's nice that in the room walls are with some ancient paintings but other parts of walls are broken and needs to be repainted. In every room there is gym bicycle.why? It's not making any any beauty to the room?! Breakfast were ok, nothing impressive, salt part of the breakfast is super minimum, and sweet part of breakfast is not the wildest choice also. And about the parking, they don't have any close parking to the hotel, it's enough distanced parking, not too comfortable if you traveling with the car.

The more we read the mixed reviews of this hotel, the more we wanted to stay in it. So glad we did, its location alone is worth the hassle of driving through the twisty and narrow streets of Perugia! We parked in Piazza Partigiani and took the escalators up to Piazza Italia (the journey through the subterranean chambers of Rocca Paolina is surreal). It isn’t much of a hassle if you only carry a tote bag or backpack with your clothes, totally impractical if you have roller cases (also note: the escalators from the carpark go up, but coming down uses mostly stairs). The hotel is perfectly located on via Bonazzi, a quiet street off the main drag of Corso Vannucci. You can’t miss this lovely building covered in ivy vines, it’s so characteristic. We stayed here for 3 nights and loved every minute of it. Our room was on the 4th floor (403/404 – basically half of a set of two rooms sharing a bathroom, no one was in the other room so we basically had the whole place to ourselves, yes it was a quirky arrangement but it worked very well). Our room looked out on to the streets but we were high enough not to hear any street noise, only the bells of the city and the cooing of the pigeons in the rooftops – magical! Speaking of rooftop, we loved going up to the roof terrace to enjoy the surrounding views at different times of day (it’s just up the stairs from our room). My favourite time is early morning watching the light change as the sun rises while I do a spot of yoga and meditation. Our room was very comfortable, pleasant temperature and quiet, we certainly slept well here. Whilst my husband could not work the safe, I did (the female brain wins!). No problems with the lift either, it worked every time – yes, it’s cozy especially for guests of ample proportions plus luggage, one just has to take these niggles as part of the charm of old buildings. Worthy of comment is the reception staff in this hotel, they’re lovely! We were a bit stressed when we arrived after all the driving and they immediately put us at ease with their welcoming smiles and understanding nature. They really are an asset to this hotel. Can’t say the same for the breakfast buffet though – it’s such a disappointment. Weak cappuccinos, mediocre range of fruit, yoghurts, breads and pastries (true, not replenished often enough, filled croissants had artificial fillings, yoghurts only one flavour), cold eggs, chewy muesli and meager amounts of nuts! Serving staff frenetically tidying up, we had breakfasts over 3 days and they never even acknowledged that we were there. Oh well, I guess you can’t expect excellence in everything for the rate we paid. On the whole, it is good value and as stated earlier, in an excellent location, everything that Perugia has to offer is within walking distance. We’d definitely stay here again if we ever return to the city, and we’d ask for our room again!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the 4th floor, the lift goes all the way there.

Just entering the hotel you find a great genuine smile! Everyone was so friendly and that makes a huge difference in choosing a lodging. What a great front office team they have! Hotel Fortuna is greatly located in the heart of the historical area of Perugia on quiet and narrow street. We arrived by car, has to be a small car! And could unload our luggage without a problem. The hotel has special rates at a close underground parking that goes from Piazza Italia, a block away from the hotel. The actual parking is about 15 minutes walking underground from the hotel, mechanical stairs will help you! The Fortune is on a historical building and they have done a good job renovating it to converted into a hotel. Our room was spacious and the bathroom extra large compared to European standards. The view was great, both from the room and from the 5th floor terrace where we had the opportunity of watching a beautiful sunset! Breakfast was varied and delicious, and staff was courteous and friendly. You will find lots of good places to eat or drink around, as Osteria A Priori. On the same street, don’t miss the gelateria, their gelato is awesome! The Fortune, a hotel to recommend and to go back!
