Booked just for one night and paid extra for river view. We used Expedia and got 10% the hotel price!!. Had a 36 square metre room which was nice but very boring in its furniture and layout. The bathroom was very small old fashioned with a very narrow bath and shower above it. The website was very unclear about parking...

Great view from our nice room over the Rhein to Basel centre, perfect for exploring this lovely city. Very helpful staff. Room warm, which was vital in January, but unable to turn down heat on radiator, so ironically was a little too hot at night! Overall a very enjoyable visit and we hope to return.

Apart from the stunning views over the river and its central location, this hotel is pricey for what is offered. Rooms are small and are in need of modernisation - just got a feel of a 1980's hotel. Buffet breakfast on offer was OK.

The hotel is situated near the centre, just a few metres across the Rhine. The rooms are nice, quiet and comfortable with fridge, tv, free wifi, free coffee nespresso machine, and a beautiful view on the other side of the river, overlooking the bridge and the cathedral. Breakfast is good and abundant and the staff kind and helpful. All hotels...

This hotel is right by the Rhein River. Beautiful setting during the fall! It is a nice antique building, the rooms are comfortable and spacious. My room had a spectacular view of the river and bridge. Just steps away from all the main plaza. If you are looking for a nice, convenient location. This is the place.

The location here is fantastic and if you can afford the higher priced river view, then do it. Fantastic, especially in the summer. The rooms are 3 star quality and in need of a refurb. Annoyingly there are no electric sockets near the bedside counter. The breakfast is really overpriced, so I went to the dunkin donuts up the road...

The hotel is generally nice enough. It is in a great location, it's clean, rooms are big, view is nice, breakfast is decent, wifi strong and fast. Shame about the bed bugs. My partner found a bed bug biting her during the night and killed it. It was absolutely clear that it was a bed bug as it perfectly matched...

My Mother and I recently stayed at Hotel Merian for 2 nights after a 7 day Viking River cruise which disembarked in Basel. The hotel is situated in a wonderful location with a beautiful view of the Rhine River, it is such a shame for such a beautiful location and appearance on the outside. Upon our arrival, the staff was...

Hotel is situated right on the Rhein. We had a room overlooking the river and watching all the people float by while sitting on our small deck was very entertaining. Lots of bars and restaurants along the river outside. Do not eat at the Spitz restaurant at the hotel though - truly awful. The room was well priced but note...
