Der Teufelhof, was a fantastic hotel to stay in. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious with so much to choose from you didn't really need lunch. We thought that the hotel was exceptionally clean too. It is very close to the centre of Basel with either a short walk down the hill or a 5... More

This is an interesting hotel, with a history and with a lot going on -- it's an art gallery and cultural centre, with a bar, cafe, restaurant. We had a large suite (we were upgraded for free) which included a Nespresso machine, a nice treat. Delicious breakfast included. My only complaint was the price ... but after spending a little... I had a surprise stay at the Teufelhof and I am still dreaming about it. My boyfriend had booked a junior suite for one night in this very charming hotel. We enjoyed the food very much, in both the normal and gastronomic restaurants. The staff was very kind and friendly. They were also very prepared, we only announced last minute... More

The hotel is in a beautiful old part of the city, quiet, stylish, full of art... Food is fabulous, especially breakfast (included). Pricey but well worth it. They upgraded us at no cost, and my partner & I felt truly pampered.

Stayed here four nights. The atmosphere is nice with friendly staff. Dinner is above average with great presentation and very tasty. I really like the "hof" where you can sit outside for breakfast or dinner. Location is good in the old town. Only real drawback? I was here when it was extremely hot weather and there's no AC in the... More

Del Tefelhof is well situated in a peaceful neighbourhood immediately adjacent to the city centre. We arrived on a very hot day and asked to be moved from the uppermost floor to a lower floor which would be cooler. The charming reception staff sorted this out efficiently for us, bought a fan and some ice. We ate in the courtyard... More

Went here as part of attending a corporate event. The food was excellent, amazing quality. But the stars of the show were the attentive staff (a rarity in Basel!). Excellent evening was had by all. I definitely plan to come back.

For a last minute visit we selected Teufelhof for a one-night stay. And we'll go there again next time when we visit Basel. It combines minimalist charm with old-world elegance, boasts a wonderful restaurant and a wine bar, and is your starting point to discvver historic Basel. When you have mobility problems or a heart condition the climb back up... More

My brother drove up from Lausanne to join me for dinner at the hotel’s Atelier restaurant; it was a drive well worth the effort! The restaurant offers outstanding dishes created by a young and vibrant kitchen and served by waiting staff that understand the menu and can engage you in virtually any language to discuss it! Fresh local ingredients dominate... More

A fascinating property--a medium sized hotel (30 or so rooms, I believe); a theater; 3 excellent restaurants; a wine store; and an archaelogical site! The hotel is situated in a pristine medieval district in Basel. The hotel is immaculate. The rooms are modern and sleek. The hotel staff is amazing. This is certainly one of the best hotels in Europe... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Der Teufelhof Basel, situated in the old town, with all sights and museums within walking distance or easy to reach by public transport, is a unique hotel experience with 33 stylish rooms. The hotel is classified as design and lifestyle as well as unique hotel. The rooms are either in the historic building, we call Art hotel, or in the more modern part in the Gallery Hotel. The Art Hotel has eight rooms and a suite. Each of them is made a work of art to live in. Especially business people who travel a lot enjoy staying in rooms which are not like the hotel rooms they know from their visits throughout the world. The Gallery Hotel's rooms and halls are a large exhibition area for one artist who can present his works for a particular period. We have chosen three designers for the rooms' furniture. The Gallery Hotel has twenty rooms, each different in size, three suites and a junior suite. The hotel comprises further the restaurant Atelier, the fine dining restaurant Bel Etage, the Teufelhof Bar, the wine shop «Falstaff», an own theater and the archaeological cellar. ... more   less
