I was staying at Hotel Wartmann from August, 16th to 20th 2022. The last day was an extension of my stay but was agreed and confirmed on site. Upon returning to my room on the last evening I found it cleaned and some of my personal belongings removed. This included toilet articles and a bound book I was reading at the time. The young receptionist was helpful but couldn't locate the items. She wanted to ask around and phone me later in the evening which didn't happen. The next morning the reception was closed and nobody was around who knew about the missing items. Back home I wrote an email to the hotel asking for the return or refund at least of the book, which I recently bought for the price of around CHF 50.--. No anwser till today! Basically the hotel as a place is ok, but there seem to be no real hotel manager and the young staff isn't able or experienced enough to handle problems. I can't recommend the place for said reason.…
Nice place where to stay: right in front of the railway station, ask for a room with view on the garden which are quieter (train start at around 5.30!) Nice personnel, very clean, fantastic breakfast (when trays are filled...the second morning the lady in charge of the buffet was really slow and we had to ask for nearly everything).
Neg: the idea of 'no food waste' is a bit exaggerated: the piece of butter this morning was partly covered with a dark grey layer of I do not know what. I don't mind mold in cheese. Vegetarian food due to corona restrictions is banned. Pos: Smoking lounge does not smell bad. Coffee is tasty. Close to the railway station 🚉.
Found this gem of a mid range hotel by chance after a failed attempt to get accommodation in Zurich. Winterthun very much in the Swiss ethos of less car, more bike and pedestrian. Sat Nav absolutely useless at getting you to front door, so tip is to find main railway, go up the steel ramp adjacent and park of first floor if you can. Hotel has own elevator down to ground floor, walk across to reception. Easy once you know how.... Reception staff pleasant and helpful, choice of elevators to 4 floors. Rooms compact but adequate, very comfortable and surprisingly quiet. We opened window during the night, the double decker trains are electric with surprisingly little noise. TV has UK channels, so great for those that don't want to spend all their time in the bar. Now for the best bit, compact bathroom has stand in bath with shower, non slip floor, glass screen swings in and out, good water supply, great shower. Old style is best! Adjacent Restaurant Argentine gives discount to hotel patrons, good food and worth a review on it's own. Next morning breakfast in dining room to the rear, nice choice and friendly staff. This probably the best hotel we stayed at on the whole tour, not the most expensive or grandest, just somewhere comfortable and easy to recommend!…
Very quiet hotel even though we were on 2nd floor overlooking the train station. Interesting art work on walls. Check out the old photos in breakfast room and the greenery in the courtyard. Breakfast sugary donuts, small hard flaky bisquits, croissants not all that fresh. Very nice people at front desk.
The service is excellent, starting with the chekin process, this also includes breakfast and checkout. The location is excellent, close to winterthur train station and the center, with great dining options.
Really , during more than 15 years ago and I Prefer always to stat at this nice hotel , mant thks again for all stuff. Also I have Client who visit Switzerland for the first time , he also give me okay about stay at Best Western Hotel Wartmenn.
room is very modern with good bathroom, value for money. The staff at reception very helpfull, breakfast included with good choices. Coffee available for free 24 hours. What more you want for what you pay. Excellent wifi all over the property.
It's a surprise. We booked this hotel for one night, as a transit hotel when our family of three first arrived at the airport in Zurich in the evening. It was a 20-minute drive from the airport. The check-in was smooth, receptionist very friendly, the room was big relative to other hotels we stayed subsequently during our trip, it's modern, bathroom very clean, and it's next to the train station.
Very happy with the Best Western. It is next to the train station (do not go out the main entrance but go under the tracks to the opposite side), making it a 5 minute walk to the old town. While not a plush 5-star hotel, nor trying to be, they do all the little things well. Front desk is friendly and efficient (quick check in). I asked for a late check out, they let us check out at 1:30 without an extra cost. Clean and bright rooms. Internet worked well. Air conditioning was great (though no air conditioning in the lobby). Overall, very efficient stay.
